Eating buffalo is maybe not a thing in Ireland but you can buy buffalo meat in the US in a lot of places, as well as beefalo meat (buffalo/cattle hybrid breed). Ranch dressing wasn't invented on a ranch in the American West, it was invented in Alaska by a plumber. "In 1949, Thayer, Nebraska native Steve Henson (1918-2007) moved with his wife to the Anchorage, Alaska, area, where he worked as a plumbing contractor for three years in the remote Alaskan bush. Endeavoring to keep his work crews happy, he invented a new salad dressing. Henson's success in the plumbing business enabled him to retire at age 35, and he moved with his wife to Santa Barbara County, California. After a year and half, the restless Henson, searching for some livelihood to occupy his time, purchased the Sweetwater Ranch in San Marcos Pass in 1956 and renamed it Hidden Valley Ranch. In creating the menu for the ranch kitchen, Henson served the salad dressing he had created in Alaska, which the guests enjoyed. Its popularity led Henson to mix a batch for his friend, Audrey Ovington, owner of Cold Spring Tavern, which became the first commercial customer for the dressing. By 1957, a packaged mix to make the dressing at home was being offered in stores." The rest is history.
At first I was mildly annoyed that they mocked Americans for having ranch flavoured everything, but then I saw this quick history lesson and I’m happy again. Didn’t know the backstory but appreciated it nonetheless

OK. One more time: There was a dude ranch in California named "Hidden Valley Ranch". Using buttermilk, mayonnaise, and spices, he came up with a dressing that the men loved. He and his wife later moved to California and opened a dude ranch called "Hidden Valley Ranch". A dude ranch is where stock brokers and executives can go for a week to ride horses and pretend they're living like cowboys. The most popular thing at the ranch was not the horses, though -- it was the dressing. Guests were buying bottles to take home, and soon there was a very nice mail-order business selling packets of the Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing spices that you'd mix with your own buttermilk to make the dressing. After it became really popular in the '70's, imitators came out, but they couldn't call it "Hidden Valley Ranch flavored". But they COULD just call it "ranch" dressing. So that's how we now have "ranch" flavored everything. (Oooo - try marinating chicken overnight in ranch dressing. Wipe it off the next day, stick it in the oven, and you'll have the most tender chicken you can imagine.)

I don't know where the onion assholes come from...i dont think the keebler elves ever made onion flavored assholes.
Oh Bláithin, I hope your comment about bison was satire. Humans have been consuming buffalo for thousands of years in America and continue to do so to this day.
Bison (a type of buffalo) burgers and bison steak are good. They are more lean than regular beef burgers/steak. The term 'buffalo sauce' comes from the sauce put on wings. It is often associated with Buffalo, NY.
7:36 I just had some bison last week. Most grocery stores carry it, and some restaurants serve it. It's really good. Moose is better though. The cheddar and bacon ones? Dip them right in plain sour cream. You'll thank me later. Works with ranch Doritos also.
Yup, I’m a fan on moose as well as bison. Moose isn’t readily available in stores like bison is. Neighbor brought us some from their last trip to Alaska
@@sailorarwen6101 Tougher to get moose here also, stores don't carry it, you have to know someone who hunts them. I live fairly near to Canada and have a couple friends that go up there to hunt moose from time to time.
Dip those bacon Ranch potato skins in bacon and horseradish chip dip, omg!! And, buffalo (bison) is eaten, widely in the states. It's much leaner, healthier than beef, tastes better, while being low in both fat and cholesterol, healthier than turkey or chicken, as well!!
I tried a couple of these TGI Friday snacks at a party and the reaction of my friends was they either liked them or really did not like them!! Personally I wasn't that impressed and they are more expensive.
The "potato skins" were originally owned by Keebler and sold as Tato Skins. T.G.I.Friday's acquired the brand at some point and incorporated Tato Skins into their already existing line. That's why they are so different than their other snacks.
I’m in the US and I’ve not seen the TGIFriday snacks that weren’t in the frozen food aisle. Ooooh, that’s a good one. They can give the potato skins with bacon and cheddar a TRY.
Bláithín: No humans are eating buffalo me: (looks at the burger in my hand) It's actually great tasting. Also a leaner meat than beef, if you're worried about that kind of thing.

I absolutely love the TGI Friday's Bacon and Cheddar potatoe-skin chips. Nom nom nom nom. I don't buy them much because they aren't good for us diabetics.
So I read through a lot of comments, and I don't think it was mentioned in the video; TGI Fridays is actually a chain restaurant here in the US. They just also happen to sell some of these chips/crisps and also frozen items in grocery stores because they're popular. Same thing with Red Robin fries, Taco Bell taco seasoning packets and sauce, Chick-Fil-A sauce, etc. So to the last statement - the Corporation will do fine as they have thousands of sit-down restaurants around the US - this is just a side business for them.
"No humans are eating buffalo." Please come to Montana and try a genuine bison burger. Might turn out to be the most delicious burger you've ever tasted. I know a few places with really good bison burgers, especially around Yellowstone.
Eating Buffalo is super common where I live, I just made a huge pot of bison stew 3 days ago. We need a Try exotic meats video. I highly recommend camel and elk.
The TGIFridays potato skin snacks are pretty darn amazing. As they said, they are perfect for dipping. Some may know of "Irish Nachos" also known as "Potachos" which are nachos but instead of tortilla chips you use potato chips or french fries or tater tots...well these work as well and they hold up better than most any other chip/crisp/tortilla. Really, these are great for dipping into any heavy or thick dip like any flavor cheese dip, bean dip, or even guacamole. The other snacks are "meh" but the potato skins are fabulous.
7:37 We do eat buffalo here in the midwest! Not as common as beef, but a neighbor of mine used to raise bison!
Monday, 1/24/22. You are off a smidge. 😁🙋
Yes we do eat buffalo in Canada and the US
Oh hey. I wasn't expecting another video with Dr Sarina. I guess you all filmed more with her than I thought while she was in Ireland.
Cheddar and bacon are my favorite!! The actual restaurant has cheddar bacon potato skins as an appetizer. They're amazing
Love the Try Time. Sarina please come back to America. Without you we are 70% less beautiful as a nation. Greatest Irish export ever, thank you 🇮🇪
More Sarina + booze. The cleaver she gets, the more drunkage she shows.
Colin: "TRY Fieri over here." 😂 I hate the fact that that made me laugh
We actually eat Bison burgers and steaks out here in Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Very tasty!
Colin woke up and chose violence! Best part was the absolute incineration of Donal @5:51 xD
Dermot's commentary is why I keep coming back to this channel
Dip those bacon Ranch potato skins in bacon and horseradish chip dip, omg!! And, buffalo (bison) is eaten, widely in the states. It's much leaner, healthier than beef, tastes better, while being low in both fat and cholesterol, healthier than turkey or chicken, as well!!
6:31 - That look Dermot gives the camera, killed me. Amazing. hahahahaha
F it, Dermot was on fire this entire episode. Amazing.
I tried a couple of these TGI Friday snacks at a party and the reaction of my friends was they either liked them or really did not like them!!
Personally I wasn't that impressed and they are more expensive.
Brilliant editing, as always!
Dermot took away my onionnocence here. 😭
The "potato skins" were originally owned by Keebler and sold as Tato Skins. T.G.I.Friday's acquired the brand at some point and incorporated Tato Skins into their already existing line. That's why they are so different than their other snacks.
I was just at a grocery that sold bison as a normal meat lol, they also had weird stuff like ostrich
I love these chips and sorts. There are hard to find in stores but I found them in a dollar store. Yummy.
I’m in the US and I’ve not seen the TGIFriday snacks that weren’t in the frozen food aisle. Ooooh, that’s a good one. They can give the potato skins with bacon and cheddar a TRY.
They are in dollar stores
Dermot and his buddy there are like the best. HILARIOUS.
Well, Collin, you did say it, not us! And it is MONDAY!!!
Thank you for what you do, you always put a smile on my face
Bláithín: No humans are eating buffalo
me: (looks at the burger in my hand)
It's actually great tasting. Also a leaner meat than beef, if you're worried about that kind of thing.
Bla, you're dead wrong. We absolutely East Buffalo in America. Buffalo burgers, Buffalo chili, Buffalo jerky, the stuff's amazing lol
They are eating buffalo 🦬 and have been since I can remember ,outside of Lodi Ohio ,is a buffalo farm ,they sell to the public ,always waved at the buffaloes as we would drive by ,out in all weather ,up close quite impressive 💥😎💥
I should TRY buying these TGIF snacks. Thanks for the video!
I absolutely love the TGI Friday's Bacon and Cheddar potatoe-skin chips. Nom nom nom nom. I don't buy them much because they aren't good for us diabetics.
Anyone. They aren't good food for anyone.
@@M00s3r Well, yeah. But worse for some of us.
7:39 Humans do eat buffalo, or Bison. Its tastier than a regular burger and super super juicy.
We do eat bison it is better than regular beef!
OMG
So I read through a lot of comments, and I don't think it was mentioned in the video; TGI Fridays is actually a chain restaurant here in the US. They just also happen to sell some of these chips/crisps and also frozen items in grocery stores because they're popular. Same thing with Red Robin fries, Taco Bell taco seasoning packets and sauce, Chick-Fil-A sauce, etc. So to the last statement - the Corporation will do fine as they have thousands of sit-down restaurants around the US - this is just a side business for them.
Try Fieri FTW!
Yes many people eat buffalo. We'll, at least it is in the meat counters at most supermarkets and in some restaurants, especially in the western areas.
Try Fieri... Holy crap.
Dermot making Colin apologize for saying that the potato skins are better than bacon made my day. 😂
1) Bison is delicious, thank you very much!
2) Dermot and the onion ring... Um... Excuse me while I, uh... See a man about a... Onion ring...
One of our Summer Drive-In burger joints has Bison burgers. People ARE eating buffalo, it's pretty good.
We have a restaurant chain that features bison - Ted's Bulletin, owned by Ted Turner. My favorite is the slow-cooked bison roast.
Love this channel n all the TRYers
Keep up the great content
Love n respect from Saginaw Michigan
"No humans are eating buffalo."
Please come to Montana and try a genuine bison burger. Might turn out to be the most delicious burger you've ever tasted. I know a few places with really good bison burgers, especially around Yellowstone.
It’s popular in Wyoming, too.
Big in Manitoba.
@@auntlynnie I've had a Bison burger from Jackson, WY and it was indeed very good!
@@bp341 I can see it being big up there.
Eating Buffalo is super common where I live, I just made a huge pot of bison stew 3 days ago. We need a Try exotic meats video. I highly recommend camel and elk.
Pheasant, beaver, venison, moose, calamari, shark, etc
BTW ... I BUY & EAT BISON/BUFFALO ... & THE BEEF/BUFFALO HYBRID ... 'BEEFALO' ..MMMMM!
OMG
The TGIFridays potato skin snacks are pretty darn amazing. As they said, they are perfect for dipping. Some may know of "Irish Nachos" also known as "Potachos" which are nachos but instead of tortilla chips you use potato chips or french fries or tater tots...well these work as well and they hold up better than most any other chip/crisp/tortilla. Really, these are great for dipping into any heavy or thick dip like any flavor cheese dip, bean dip, or even guacamole. The other snacks are "meh" but the potato skins are fabulous. Sláinte! ~Be Blessed
Who here loves the cheddar bacon chips?
ummmm......
I just love seeing you all without a divider!
