    Unsure what laptop to buy, unsure on what you will use your laptop for then you’re in the right place.
    Who am I?
    My name is Sagar and I am a first-class MEng aerospace engineering graduate in the UK at the University of Sheffield. In my channel, I post videos about engineering, technology, university life and careers. If you're a university student or planning to study at a university in the UK or anywhere else, consider subscribing as I will make helpful videos to help you make the most of university. I have studied in the UK and Australia so I have global university experience. I am aiming to transition from aerospace to software engineering in the near future so be prepared for software content coming out too.
    Currently, my schedule is to post a new video every Saturday at 16:00 so subscribe and expect great content!

    My daughter is set on taking up Aerospace Engineering as early Grade9(she's now in Grade11) that's why she uses a high spec laptop. But last year, we bought her another one which is a gaming laptop because the specs are best for programming. She really loves it

      @@mdisrafilali well, you're absolutely wrong😊. It's been very helpful with all her programming classes. Gaming laptop may be costly but it wasn't an issue for us, her parents, as long as it'll make her studies less stressful..and it really did make a lot of difference.

      @@mdisrafilali I could barely understand what you're trying to imply. What's your point exactly? So I'm assuming that you're trying to prove you've better knowledge than me just because you're a rocket science student? No pun intended but, what's your point exactly because it seems you're trying to imply being intellectually superior. My ability to provide for my daughter's needs which I think helped her studies is none of your business. It's not your money used in buying her gaming laptop even if she's not into gaming. It was her choice which we as parents supported. Clear?

      @@mariayu1012What makes the gaming laptop good for programming? The one she had for aero eng presumably focuses on CPU and RAM and maybe uses a quadro/T GPU. Unless it's screen size I think you might have got finessed out of a gaming laptop

      Yeh gaming PCs are the most safest to go for if you want high amounts of computing power. Unfortunately I don't have any specific recommendations for laptops as the laptop I used (Dell Inspiron 15700) was bought around 4 years ago and I wouldn't recommend that

    Can you give information about storage? Do CFD, CAT, software programs and the files we produce take up a lot of space? Is 256gb enough or should it be 512gb at least? I have no problem with this. I have 1tb of space, but I was wondering how much space is left for my games and other works.

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd say 256 GB should be enough space for a student, however if you run out of space on your machine you can always upload your older files to the uni cloud storage drive such as google drive

      So it isn't a massive problem if you have access to university computers, however, if you do want to run software like SOLIDWORKS you will have to do some hacky stuff to make it work. I'm not sure how but my friend had to do it to ensure certain programmes worked on his Mac. I suggest you do buy a windows machine as it will make your life easier in the long term, as many companies use Windows PCs at work.

    Hi, do you think a acer swift x with a rtx 3050 and ryzen 7 5700u with 16gb ram is a good choice? The only issue is that the ram is soldered and the thermals aren’t great. Should that be a concern for demanding tasks?

    • @SA64R
      @SA64R  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say get a laptop with good thermals as it would degrade quickly if you use it a lot, but if your university has remote desktop and you can use the universities more powerful PCs make the most of that as your laptop will wear out less.
