I think brandon splitting hairs on the canyon is just trying to keep the vulp relevant. I have had both a trainer vulp v2 and a reblade (hydra bowie) false edge - the canyon easily outperforms it and costs less. Nabalis has upped their game a lot since the vulp release and the canyon is just better imo. I'm glad the vulp existed when i started but i barely pick it up anymore, even after the reblade...

personally i would chuck that reblade on a set of kraken handles or the AS tsunami to make more use of it lol

@@taktyc haha yea, that's the plan eventually. I tested it on a set of AS kraken handles but didn't sand the zen nipple yet. A nami would be sweet as well

I find that the value proposition of the Canyon, and performance, far outperform the Vulp in terms of its ergonomics, momentum, and longevity. Despite the pinless design and heavier weight, I much prefer the overall momentum the Canyon carries over the Vulp any day. The Vulp is still a fine balisong that kicked manufacturers to have their own entry level flippers for us to enjoy. But I'd argue that the days of the Vulp being the default standard beginner balisong starter pack has now passed. Unless Will makes a (non-pro) revised vulp that can actually chaplin, and be a starter balisong that can carry you into the endgame, I'll recommend the Canyon every time ... if it ever comes back in stock again.

That's why the Vulp pro was made to improve on the Vulp if you didn't know lol

They also have the false live blade Vulp pro as well

140usd doesn’t really class as a beginner bali tho. i think what comment is trying to say is that unless regular vulp chaplains and grows with you, they will reccomend canyon over it

@@taktyc I know, but the pro greatly improves on the Vulp.......just not in pricing. But the pro is good at the price it's at for a beginner/intermediate balisong with the g10. I am new to balisong flipping and have the Vulp pro trainer and FL blade. I have ordered the Canyon FL Blade and it should be coming in soon.

@gamalhines9598 I have the Vulp Pro, regular Vulp, and the Canyon. The Vulp pro is an objectively great balisong and is definitely a great improvement over the original that fixes the problems of the original and brings out the full potential of Will's design. But I find the notion of telling someone, especially a newcomer, that paying more than double the price of the original for a balisong that fixes the problems that were "intentionally designed" to be there to be absurd. I love Will and his content, but it has always bugged me on how he reinforces the fact that the OG Vulp came packaged with flaws (chaplins) that sounded like it was designed to be disposable. Sure, if you like the initial Vulp experience, then upgrading is the natural next step for a flipper. Plus, compromises needed to be made in order to keep the cost down. However, the Canyon proves that slight design alterations and shape structure could easily make a balisong that can perform well and be cheap. A Vulp V2 with the Vulp pro blade shape, some extra grip milling, with the same 6061 aluminum without the G10; I think that we can feasibly have an even better start point for flippers without breaking a Benjamin. I still like my original Vulp for sure. But if the whole point of it was to be a tool to help folks get into the hobby, then it should feasibly be a tool to teach a person how to be better at flipping.

I started flipping with cheap Balisongs and the Vulp was my first decent one and it was really good compared to cheap stuffs, but now after I have tried a lot of other balisongs and clones I definitely can say that the Vulp isn't worth the money nowadays.
You can get something better at even lower prices with clones that are fantastic such as the Armed Shark Krake Raken or squidtrainer etc... and also as for original designs
the canyon probably is one of the cheapest worthing the price original balisongs.

I really love the Canyon- I have learned a lot of tricks easily that I was struggling with on different balisongs with the Canyon. That being said- the same is true with the exception of doing a Chaplin for the Vulp. I don’t blame Will and Brandon for their advertising the Vulp they did put a lot of work into building the Vulp. Is it my favorite no… do I reach for the Canyon more? Yes- but that is true for my squid Krake Raken as well. I just find the Canyon as a beginner helps you feel a trick more than some other beginner balisongs. Thanks for your thoughts! I really love your content.

Just got a vulp and my friend just ordered a canyon so I’m excited to try the canyon but I’m extremely happy with my vulp. Ordered some zippy inserts to help with chaplains and fans but it does Chaplin there’s just essentially a limit to how small you can make the Chaplin
