The same goes for those working in regular offices or even schools. They call their seniors - Sunbaenim and you will hear BTS say that especially in their early years in KPOP when they introduce EXO.
First off, you should know that every single one of these examples are 100 percent live vocals. So this just goes to show you what amazing vocalists EXO are. The funny thing about the beginning of this video when you saw EXO harmonizing was the fact that it wasn't planned. Chanyeol was trying to figure out what he wanted to say and so he started out by saying "ummm ..." and the rest of the members just piggybacked off of that and turned it into a vocal harmony. That just goes to show you how even off the cuff they have amazing vocals. If you want to hear them a Capella you should check out one of their acoustic medleys in concert. LOL) And this was only one song out of probably between 25 and 30 songs they performed during that concert. The part where you saw Chen singing that super high song solo on the TV program "Knowing Brothers " or "Knowing Bros." was actually originally a song from a female artist. So Chen was showing that he could actually sing the song in the female key range, which is extremely difficult for most male singers to even come close to reaching. That's why everyone was so impressed. The super impressive duo performance with Chen and Baekhyun was a cover of a famous old Korean song called "Really I Didn't Know" and it was on a singing competition TV program called "Immortal Songs 2." This was from more than 5 years ago so it was when they were first starting out, which just goes to show you what amazing vocalists they have always been. Immortal Songs 2 is a weekly singing competition show where Idols and famous singers go on the show and compete against each other to be voted the best performance of the show by the audience. Each week there is a theme and most of the time the theme has something to do with a famous older well known singer, group, composer or artist or a specific genre or era of music, and all the songs are remixed covers of songs from the artist that is featured as the theme of that week's show. For instance, they have even done English weeks where the theme of the week is Micheal Jackson songs or Micheal Bolton songs and all the singers who competed on that episode sang Micheal Jackson songs or Micheal Bolton songs. (Micheal Bolton was even on the show to critique the performances.) So the point of the show is to take a famous old song and to remake it into something new and amazing or to blow the audience away with your vocal talent. Each singer or duo or group goes on the show and competes against all the other guests on the show and the audience votes for whomever they thing had the better performance. Each performance is given a numerical score depending on how many times the audience pushed the "thumbs up" button. The person with the highest score becomes the winner of the show that week and takes home a trophy. Its a show a lot of Idols go on when they are first starting out to help gain popularity and recognition for themselves and their group. What makes this show unique is its a show with singers and artists across the spectrum of ages and musical genres -- artists such as Chen and Bakehyun who are famous Idol singers in their 20s could be competing against a famous rock 'n' roll singer or band who could have been in the industry for 20 years, etc. And not only are the artists who compete diverse, but so too is the audience -- Immortal Songs 2 is very popular across all age demographics from teenagers who love Idol Kpop music to grandparents that listen to traditional Korean music. It spans all generations -- teens like the show because they get to see their favorite Idols and grandparents like the show because most of the time the guests cover older classic songs that they love and grew up on, etc. The show is all about impressing the audience with your performance and its a really big honor to win. Something to note about the performances where you saw Chanyeol singing, such as his performance of "Creep" and "Billionaire," etc., (the guitar player) is the fact that he is the main rapper of the group.(He has a mad rap flow that you should check out as well.) So this just demonstrates how impressive they all are as vocalists because even their rappers are great singers. And not only that but Chanyeol is super multi-talented. As you saw in this video he can also play acoustic guitar and piano, but what you didn't see is that he also plays electric guitar, drums and is a DJ, etc. You should check out a video called "EXO's Most Talented Member," th-cam.com/video/EqJISmSphTc/w-d-xo.html, to see just how talented he really is. Chanyeoul's performance of "creep" was on a variety show called JYP's Party People, so the older man you didn't recognize was JYP (Park JinYoung) the founder of JYP Entertainment which represents groups such as GOT7, 2PM, Twice, Stray Kids, Day6, etc. Its a TV program where JYP invites famous singers and groups on the show (not necessarily from his company) to kind of do an intimate small club performance and essentially "party with him." The part where you said they sounded "not human-- like it was a machine" was Xiumin's high note. Xiumin isn't even one of the 3 main vocalists, so that just goes to show you even more that EXO are all amazing vocalists. The part where EXO were wedding singers was a clip of them performing as a gift to one of their managers who's wedding that was. You can't just hire them to sing at your wedding, but if you are lucky enough to be a family member, friend or someone that works with them, you might be able to convince them to singing at your wedding. :D This is a kind of long comment, but I hope it helps explain a little what makes EXO such an epic group and what makes Kpop in general so amazing. :D As you now see EXO are known for their vocals and for their dancing. As an SM Entertainment group its really no surprise that they are amazing vocalists and dancers because that's just a fact about the type of people that SM selects to be a part of its company. SM has become known for its amazing vocalists and dancers and that is why its one of the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. You should really check out the updated version of this video, which features all 9 of the members. @@darknano6195 Seniority is a Korean culture regardless of which agency you debut. As long as you debut a year earlier than another group, you are considered their seniors. The same goes for those working in regular offices or even schools. They call their seniors - Sunbaenim and you will hear BTS say that especially in their early years in KPOP when they introduce EXO.
First off, you should know that every single one of these examples are 100 percent live vocals. So this just goes to show you what amazing vocalists EXO are.
The funny thing about the beginning of this video when you saw EXO harmonizing was the fact that it wasn't planned. Chanyeol was trying to figure out what he wanted to say and so he started out by saying "ummm ..." and the rest of the members just piggybacked off of that and turned it into a vocal harmony. That just goes to show you how even off the cuff they have amazing vocals.
If you want to hear them a Capella you should check out one of their acoustic medleys in concert. The next clip where you saw them in the red jackets in concert was a remix of their song 'Wolf" in concert in Japan. I highly recommend you check out this performance. It is one of EXO's most epic performances. LOL) And this was only one song out of probably between 25 and 30 songs they performed during that concert. Kpop concerts usually last 3 to 4 hours long and EXO are nonstop dancing and singing machines during the whole thing.
The part where you saw Chen singing that super high song solo on the TV program "Knowing Brothers " or "Knowing Bros." was actually originally a song from a female artist. So Chen was showing that he could actually sing the song in the female key range, which is extremely difficult for most male singers to even come close to reaching. That's why everyone was so impressed.
The super impressive duo performance with Chen and Baekhyun was a cover of a famous old Korean song called "Really I Didn't Know" and it was on a singing competition TV program called "Immortal Songs 2." This was from more than 5 years ago so it was when they were first starting out, which just goes to show you what amazing vocalists they have always been. Immortal Songs 2 is a weekly singing competition show where Idols and famous singers go on the show and compete against each other to be voted the best performance of the show by the audience. Each week there is a theme and most of the time the theme has something to do with a famous older well known singer, group, composer or artist or a specific genre or era of music, and all the songs are remixed covers of songs from the artist that is featured as the theme of that week's show. For instance, they have even done English weeks where the theme of the week is Micheal Jackson songs or Micheal Bolton songs and all the singers who competed on that episode sang Micheal Jackson songs or Micheal Bolton songs. (Micheal Bolton was even on the show to critique the performances.)
So the point of the show is to take a famous old song and to remake it into something new and amazing or to blow the audience away with your vocal talent. Each singer or duo or group goes on the show and competes against all the other guests on the show and the audience votes for whomever they thing had the better performance. Each performance is given a numerical score depending on how many times the audience pushed the "thumbs up" button. The person with the highest score becomes the winner of the show that week and takes home a trophy. Its a show a lot of Idols go on when they are first starting out to help gain popularity and recognition for themselves and their group. What makes this show unique is its a show with singers and artists across the spectrum of ages and musical genres -- artists such as Chen and Bakehyun who are famous Idol singers in their 20s could be competing against a famous rock 'n' roll singer or band who could have been in the industry for 20 years, etc. And not only are the artists who compete diverse, but so too is the audience -- Immortal Songs 2 is very popular across all age demographics from teenagers who love Idol Kpop music to grandparents that listen to traditional Korean music. It spans all generations -- teens like the show because they get to see their favorite Idols and grandparents like the show because most of the time the guests cover older classic songs that they love and grew up on, etc. The show is all about impressing the audience with your performance and its a really big honor to win.
Something to note about the performances where you saw Chanyeol singing, such as his performance of "Creep" and "Billionaire," etc., (the guitar player) is the fact that he is the main rapper of the group.(He has a mad rap flow that you should check out as well.) So this just demonstrates how impressive they all are as vocalists because even their rappers are great singers. And not only that but Chanyeol is super multi-talented. As you saw in this video he can also play acoustic guitar and piano, but what you didn't see is that he also plays electric guitar, drums and is a DJ, etc. You should check out a video called "EXO's Most Talented Member," th-cam.com/video/EqJISmSphTc/w-d-xo.html, to see just how talented he really is. Chanyeoul's performance of "creep" was on a variety show called JYP's Party People, so the older man you didn't recognize was JYP (Park JinYoung) the founder of JYP Entertainment which represents groups such as GOT7, 2PM, Twice, Stray Kids, Day6, etc. Its a TV program where JYP invites famous singers and groups on the show (not necessarily from his company) to kind of do an intimate small club performance and essentially "party with him."
The part where you said they sounded "not human-- like it was a machine" was Xiumin's high note. Xiumin isn't even one of the 3 main vocalists, so that just goes to show you even more that EXO are all amazing vocalists.
The part where EXO were wedding singers was a clip of them performing as a gift to one of their managers who's wedding that was. You can't just hire them to sing at your wedding, but if you are lucky enough to be a family member, friend or someone that works with them, you might be able to convince them to singing at your wedding. :D
This is a kind of long comment, but I hope it helps explain a little what makes EXO such an epic group and what makes Kpop in general so amazing. :D As you now see EXO are known for their vocals and for their dancing. As an SM Entertainment group its really no surprise that they are amazing vocalists and dancers because that's just a fact about the type of people that SM selects to be a part of its company. SM has become known for its amazing vocalists and dancers and that is why its one of the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and around the world.
You should really check out the updated version of this video, which features all 9 of the members.
