Sehun is somewhat like Yoona in their own groups, often called for not singing well but they have unique voice that does not just always fit in the group' songs
When they debuted I legit thought sehun's voice is not as good as the others tho (don't attack me, I was 13) but I recognize his voice has gotten better as years come and now he's great. I do love them all lol
He doesn't really have a singing voice but it does sound VERY pleasing when he raps. I also enjoy his rap flow since it's different from the typical "kpop rapper voice" ( deep, husky, loud ).

They appreciate Sehun's voice so happy, actually I'm really amazed by his voice because of its low register
APADO GWAENCHANA yeah people don't really notice that Sehun's lower register is so dark, connected & heavy despite him being an untrained singer. It'd be really useful if SM trains his voice more & use him more on songs since all members except Chanyeol have voices that shine more in higher area.

One thing that I've always thought about is that SM should train EXO to sing acappela in live shows, like, using Sehun's and Chanyeol's voices as the base and the other boys doing other stuff. IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME TO LISTEN TO THEM HARMONIZING. EXO Ls would go craaaazy 😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤
Exo seems to focus more on the grounded qualities of the music a human can produce. Their rapping and vocals are very well trained and the melodies are always well written. They also focus on their dances. Their choreography tends to be the most challenging out of kpop dances

The song is not about "dont steal my girl." Maybe its misinterpreted in Englsh or something idk (dont wanna blaim the reactor). I guess "to keep her by my side" part might sound like a kidnapper in English?? In Korean its more like "to make her stay by my side."
The couple in this song has just started dating (the girlfriend still feels shy and awkward) and the boyfriend hopes that his girlfriend falls for him as fast as he is falling for her. For that, the guy wants to make efforts so that the girl doesnt leave him. Its most obviois with the lines like "however you want it, teach me (meaning he will follow)," and "if you dont want to be by urside, msg me (meaning he will come out to accompany), and "there is no such thing like "LIE" to me (meaning he will be sincere)"
No, that is not it. The couple in this song have separated/broken up for some time. Now the guy is trying to get back to the girl. Some other man has already stolen the girl from the guy. That is why the guy warns the other man not to steal the girl, and at the same time the guy is trying to get the girl back, and keep her by his side from now on. That is the true meaning of tempo.

kellimm Please read the English translation of Tempo Chinese lyrics. The translation is bad, but at least it explicitly mention “opponent” and “memory”. Btw I can read Chinese. I know international fans don’t care about TEMPO Chinese lyrics at all, and it really shows.

You do know that EXO's Korean and Chinese lyrics are usually not literal translations of each other, e.g. Korean and Chinese meanings (or English translations) of the lyrics may differ in order to fit the beat amongst other things? Hence, I suggest you learn one of the language, either Korean or Chinese, to begin with.

I think Tempo is the most musically interesting title track from EXO.
Umu said the lyrics is about them telling other boys to keep away from their girl but I always thought that the lyrics were telling the GIRL to not mess up their tempo, kind of like don’t play hard to get, follow the rhythm, etc. I got that from the subs in the MV. 🤔

No, you misunderstood the lyrics. "Don't mess up my tempo" is a warning to other men. The singer warn other mens "not to steal their girl", and at the same time the singer also woo the girl. Both meanings are common theme for exo's title songs, ever since the growl and wolf era.

Hmmm… I don’t really interpret the song as “don’t steal my girl”. I believe the song is about finally falling in love with someone and wanting them to reciprocate your feelings. The song creates the scenario that they see each other everyday because they're both interested, except he's fallen in love and wants to make it official. He also wants to know that she loves him too.
The first and second verses are two separate dates. In both of them, he’s trying to impress her. Tempo is referring to the momentum he’s gaining to win her affection. If she rejects him, the momentum would be lost. The delivery is passionate because he’s never fallen in love before, “I can’t believe / I’ve been waiting for this feeling” and “you’re my one and only savior”.

Really glad they've been giving him more substantial lines now. He's been doing pretty well, had a proper solo track in the last concert tour, had a duet released with Chanyeol, given more lines as a rapper and, surprisingly, as a singer, and several dancing solos on special stages. He's improved so much across all departments (e.g. his rapping flow).
I'm pretty sure all this time SM trained him and Sehun worked so hard on it. SM known for their training sytems...as long as the idol willing to work hard on it.

@@strawberrycoon5382 Umu's been focusing more on songs that they can give comments on the composition or other music theory related things since the start of Season 2. Because that's what this channel brings as it's unique feature. If it's not musically complex then their reactions are the same as any other channel's. Given the number of reactors and their reactions are paired, I can also see why Umu does restrict to songs that are musically complex. There's only so much time in the day and it's not like she's running out of musically complex songs for them to react to. Since Love Shot's in the list of songs they will not be reacting to, it sounds like it's just not complex enough to make the cut.

Came back to this to say that EXO really just made Tempo for the musicians.
