Honestly, first time seeing one of your videos & I wanted to let you know I'm subscribing specifically because you're one of few youtube woodworkers that actually talks about the need to finish every part of the board, even parts no one will ever see, to even out wood explansion/contraction.
Thanks very much, Karl! I greatly appreciate the kind words and the comment about finishing both sides. It's definitely something you learn the hard way if you don't do it!
Damn. You are one of the BEST people on the internet when it comes to talking to an audience. Very relaxed, with just the right amount of sensible humor to make for a really enjoyable experience. Some people are just plain ridiculous clowns when they talk. I wish more people had your kind of ease when talking to an audience and still being informative. I'll watch any video you post. Kudos!
Is this going to become a habit? I watch your videos and see you easily turn out beautiful pieces AND teach everybody something every time! If it is, I'm all in!
Nice! I really like how you ended up building the legs: nice way to minimize wood waste while beefing up the appearance. I also enjoy how you describe the thinking that lead you to do a certain process this or that way, very inspiring every time I watch one of your videos. And I'm always amazed at how Lola and Jerry behave in your workshop: mine would go crazy after a few minutes while yours appear so calm...
Thanks Jacques! I greatly appreciate the kind words. And it's a total mystery how Jerry and Lola tolerate all the noise and commotion out in the shop on a daily basis 😹
Keith, I gotta say - having done woodworking for a half century (and being a luthier for more than half of those years) I watched this video and came away with one big point: you basically gave this customer a the bargain of the century! I would have charged at least $30K, even if I DID have the well-equipped shop that you have! Kudos to you!
First time TH-cam fed me your channel. Super impressed with your work. High skill, loads of experience and style. Subscribed because of your detailed narration. You explained everything so well without long winded explanations.
This build was well worth the wait. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this project and as always, turned out to be a work of art. Good luck on the next builds Keith!
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking me and my 5 month old son watched it this morning . Everything in his bedroom I made with walnut so I love the inspiration.
Love, love, love the level of process detail, just chock full of great info and insight. Understanding how to do something is great, but with so many interesting custom features, explaining the why behind it the way you do is really priceless. Great video!
Those brass bowties match the aesthetic so damn well. I'm loving the use of new tech to get what you need. I understand the appeal of pure handcrafting with chisels, but in the end it's still about the end result.
Didn’t have time to watch until this evening. Once again, I’m in awe. It’s a joy to watch you do this work so well. I also love how much you love to do it. Legendary.
Beautiful job as usual Keith! Again, your attention to detail is amazing. Even though this was a 40 minute video, it didn't seem like it when watching it. No unnecessary fluff (other than the shop clawfloofs!), just straight, refined woodworking. Looking forward to your next one!

I just want to say that I think most people underestimate the random orbital sander for doing a roundover. You won't get a really dramatic roundover without putting in a lot of work but you can get a very nice small one so easily. I personally use that technique quite a bit.
