Randy Bachman from the Guess Who teamed with Fred Turner, a Canadian rocker. BTO was a banger band in the 70's with big hits like this, Taking Care of Business and Let It Ride, the latter featuring Turner's powerful vocals. You should definitely check out more of their stuff.
The Bachman brothers, and Mr. Turner, going into overdrive. Bachman Turner Overdrive, more commonly called BTO. Huge anthems from the 70's. This one's my fav for certain.
Randy Bachman's bother had a stutter and Randy sang one of the studio takes of this song with a stutter just as a joke and to tease his brother. However, the producer liked it so much he convinced the band to actually use that take on the record.
The piano player was the pizza delivery guy delivering pies to the band 'WAR' that were recording at the same studio as BTO - a very funny story is behind that.
@@T-ShirtMagic - Nope - that's a story made up by Randy. Norman Durkee was/is a well known studio session player and he was in the studio building. The engineer suggested they get him in to do a piano part. Durkee is none too pleased that Bachman continually lies about this.
@@BobSoltis1 Pizza story I heard directly from Randy. Had you direct knowledge of the other story? That story I found on *The fact-checking site* that has banned it's author David Mikkelson from writing articles; after a BuzzFeed News investigation prompted an internal review.
Speech Impediment Rock! This song was meant to be a Throw-Away song as a joke on his brother, who stuttered badly. He's Still Rocking on a Live Radio Show called *VINYL TAP! Keep The Rock Rollin''* where untold stories of Rock Moments of the Last Six Decades. Very Entertaining! I'm so fortunate to live a stones throw from Randy and *Valdy* too.
They played this at my first high school dance. None of us could really dance, and it's really not a dance song, but man did we have fun. Great song great memories.
Randy Bachman's brother Gary stutters so the band recorded an extra take of this song with Randy stuttering the words to give to his brother as a joke. This version was so good it ended up on the album
Wow it’s been years since I’ve heard this. I think this came out mid 70’s. I had just graduated high school. Great band I don’t really think much about anymore. Thanks!!
We just lost Ronnie Bachman drummer. Jan 12 but his passing was shadowed by Lisa Marie presley death the same day. R.I.P. all. Also the 13th. Jeff.Beck.
Randy Bachman was part of The Guess Who & then went on to have a solo career with BTO. Both were great Canadian rock bands. BTO had a lot of great songs in the 70's such as "Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care Of Business", "Hey You", "Roll On Down The Highway", "Lookin' Out For #1" etc.
They were called BTO, they were huge in the 70s. They had a huge fan base. Their emblem on their logo was a machine gear, all their followers were called gear heads. They have so many hits but the first one you hit should be LET IT RIDE. That song the lead singer Fred Turner. His voice is much different than Randy Bachman. You will absolutely love it. KEEP ROCKIN
Another tune that's part of the soundtrack of our lives, even today. So much of the rock from the 70's and 80's is still so recognizable to young people. Great music never goes out of style.
One of the most famous 'power ballad' of the '70's. They played what is known as the Big Sound. Ahhh... drivin' down Beach Blvd (Hwy 39) to Huntington. Great memories.
This is such a "JAM," it's a "VIBE" and it's so "LIT" that it made the Lead Singer "Stutter!!!" BTO has other jams like "Taking Care Of Business" and "Let It Ride," please react to these also!!!
Brothers Randy & Robbie Bachman & Fred Turner went into overdrive! Randy wrote this song & performed this as a joke to his brother who stuttered. Great band!!
Bachman-Turner Overdrive was made up of Randy Bachman on lead and rhythm guitar and vocals, his younger brother Rob Bachman on drums, Fred Turner on bass and vocals, and Blair Thornton on lead and rhythm guitar and vocals. To say they were huge in the 1970s is, well, a colossal understatement! I learned from an interview with Randy Bachman years and years ago that he wanted BTO to be a rhythm based rock band. But I didn't know until very recently that they were sharing a dressing room with the Doobie Brothers in New Orleans during Mardi Gras when he worked out some of "Let It Ride" and the Doobies based "Long Train Running" on his guitar noodlings as he ironed it out. That is astonishing and good to know. Randy said in that interview eons ago, back in the 1970s IIRC, that he wanted a band that was rhythmically similar to CCR and the Doobies. Killer rhythm was _the_ thing back in the 1970s and is much too absent from today's music. And BTO has so many excellent lead guitar solos! It is funny how I can remember those things from an interview almost 50 years ago, and I can't remember what time I got up this morning! Ah, the pleasures of life in your 60s! Ha, ha! 😂🤷♂️😉🎸
This group was briefly known as Bachman Turner Bachman before renaming themselves Bachman-Turner Overdrive. They were coming on at full throttle with hits like LET IT RIDE, GIMME YOUR MONEY PLEASE, TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS, and my personal favorite, ROLL ON DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I love the two guitar solos that burn with real heat. They rumble down the highway already scorched by the Doors ROADHOUSE BLUES.
Thanks for playing this. I was about 13,when this was every 3rd song on the radio. I have 2 pair of bellbottoms tailored last year, thats how bad I want these times back.
The singer Randy Bachman, his brother the bass player is a stutter and he wrote this song and stuttered in it for his brother.. what a great song.. they have plenty more also.
Randy Bachman said the last name is pronounced Back-man. Randy Bachman had been the lead guitarist for The Guess Who in the late 60's and early 70's. Take and listen to "Takin' Care of Business", "Let it Ride", "Hey You" and "Roll on Down the Highway" are some of their best songs.
Started out as a great 70’s group from Canada called The Guess Who with great singer Burton Cummings. A real banger by this group is guitar-riff crazy” Roll On Down The Highway”…… In this song it is rumored that the singer stuttered on purpose to show his brother that it wasn’t that bad. Glad you have heard and recognize the song.
Great one guys. I was in highschool when this was released I think in 1974 or 75. This was a great cruising the back roads smoking some reefer with your buddies FM radio songs. That's a classic. Use to be on every jukebox when it came out, and was still on them for a while afterwards. Really great band with several other songs y'all will love.
The guitar Randy is playing in the video was stolen shortly after. It was just located recently by a guy who heard about it and went online looking for the wood pattern which is its fingerprint. He found it on a youtube video of a musician in Japan. Randy agreed to buy the musician another similar guitar in exchange for his. He has yet to make it to Japan to recover it. He will perform with the other guy to celebrate getting it back.

It's been done before but I do love the stuttering in this, it's a great device and he seems like he's having such a fun time doing it. The song was heavily played on the radio for a while probably not as much as taking care of business but they have another song Tramp that I really like kind of a homeless people but really more about the music industry. Take It Like a Man featuring Little Richard on piano.
Randy Bachman guitars/vocals and Fred Turner bass/vocals. The Overdrive came from a trucker magazine that one of them had.

Asia & BJ, their "Taking Care Of Business" is even more of a banger, with some tasty piano!!!
