One of the most beautiful melodies, full of passion and art, thank you for share this absolutely amazing theme, i hope you play something like this again, thank you so much.
I have watch this video on a daily basis for the last 5 years and I always thought it was Mr. Loomis playing... Just now I came across the comment section to realize it was not him... Amazing!
I will pay anyone £100 to tab this out for me and I have never been more serious in my life . Just cannot stop listening to this , totally fecking awesome
Hey Justin, first of all thanks very much for your kind words! I was very inspired by Jeff's song, that's why I was able to come up with all these melodies and solos. Regarding the tabs - originally I never planned to tab out the solo, because I was always writing some new music, but if you are really serious then contact me at facebook.com/jonastamas and we can make a deal :)
A truly outstanding rendition. I don't want to say it's "better" than the original as their different approaches evoke unique blends of ambience and emotion. Also I am a long time Loomis fan who would hate to admit someone bettered him with his own composition. I will however say that yours is more soothing to the soul. One cannot help but be enthralled by the nuances and inflections you've fleshed out. The subtle ebb and flow of power and peace are on point. To be frank, if this song made the hair on my arms stand up any damn harder, they'd rip themselves from my flesh. Well done sir, well done.
Todd, thank you so much for your message, I appreciate it a lot. You've just made my day. It gives me a ton of motivation to know that this music has such a deep emotional effect. I must also say that while I thoroughly enjoyed composing (and partly improvising) the melodies, it was Jeff's song that has made it possible - he is a true master.
Thanks very much Jerry! This video shows the more "shred-y" side of me:) In the last 2 years I've focused on composing new original music, which is less guitar-solo-oriented (although there are quite a few "virtuoso" parts in those EPs too).
Jeff Loomis is the best guitar player in the world. Past,Present &Future. This is metal, blues southern rock, classic rock all wrapped in a instrumental. He can play any style of music. I'm glad he decided on METAL! Just lost Warrell Dane. End of an ERA. Arch Enemy & solo career. JEFF U R THE SHIT!
*NEW* Jeff Loomis: Chosen Time ►full guitar playthrough (HD) I dedicate my new video to Somi Péter who has re-fretted this guitar - he did an amazing job. Don't forget to share if you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for your support;)
Have you tried your hand at his acoustic piece, Rapture? I'm trying to figure out how he's picking that. So far I think he's just using economy picking, ie: vvv ^^^. The opening chord would be c d# f#. Thoughts?
I listened to the whole album when it came out (and it's amazing). But I haven't played any other tracks, only Chosen Time, because I was busy at the time with my upcoming album. But I may go ahead and take a look at Rapture when I'll have more time.
awesome! i even like the mostly 3 finger jimmy paige-like approach with a slight thumb wrap :) your tapping arpeggios are incredibly clean though and i can see you use that pinky like a champ when you have to. great tone too
Thank you so much! Yes, I tend to use the blues-type method with my fretting hand when I play bluesier lines, and switch to the "modern" hand position when I play faster things, arpeggios, scales, etc. I'm glad you liked the solo, cheers!
You know... Jeff is actually a very traditional shredder. Meaning the techniques he chooses to employ aren't particularly radical. Not Vai like, so to speak. But what he does do is do everything He Does do soooo cleanly that it's just tone perfection. His vibrato is top tier, near the greatest of all time. His whammy bar usage is conservative on one hand techniques wise, but he uses it quite a bit, but you'd only know that by watching him. His speed is just freaking sic. He does all of the things, and his transitions from thing to thing is just.... Right. Correct. Accurate. And Complete. And last but not least, Jeff has his own style, his own tone, and know one who knows guitarists in general will ever mistake him for someone else except for sometimes Marty Friedman, but usually that's because Marty is actually playing with him. He rights just absolutely devastating riffs when he's in a band and when he he's on his own he's just as good just even more technical. Of all the truly great guitarists of modern times, not just Metal, I'd say he is the very best of the last 25 years.
What a great pleasure to listen loomis playing long and slow over or rock ballad beat , i love Miles Of machine but i love to watch him like a true human lolll Very good job

All 4 albums/EPs are on my channel, just look for The Four Seasons: Part 1 - Spring, and The Four Seasons: Part 2, Summer (these are the new ones), and also "Timeless Hour" and "Sharp Guitars From A Flat Planet". Besides, I have 2 more public shortsongs, Yak Dance and Luminescence on my profile.
So, wait a minute... Is this a re-recording by Jeff or a new one by this guy, Jonas Tamas? I can hear many subtle nuances that don't really sound like Jeff and it's being played a great deal differently. So, I'm thinking this is a tribute/cover by Tamas. Either way, WOW! Though I've been a Huge Loomis fan for many, many years, it sounds SOOO good from that guitar! Absolutely, beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Samick was never on my radar. In fact, I altogether thought they were out of business to be honest. Now, I have to play one! That thing is SOOO resonant & fat, its refreshing! If the player (whoever) is reading, can you tell me about your setup? What pickups are in it? Thanks...wow!
Thanks for your kind words! The solos are composed by me over the great track of Jeff Loomis. I love the original song too, so I decided to come up with my own melodies over these chord progression. About the Samick: this guitar is a completely stock one, with the original Samick pickups. The neck has been re-fretted, that's the only difference. I have used Guitar Rig 5 for the tones.

Jeff’s compositional skills are improving greatly, establish a good melody & build/add-on to it, save the fire for when it’s needed, nice to hear the direction he’s open to explore.
Thank you Steven for your kind words! The track is by Jeff and the solos (mostly improvised, party pre-written) are by me, and I appreciate your words a lot.
First I thought it was Jeff but once I heard the pick attack and the vibrato I knew it wasn't him. Insane how that can be a guitarists signature.
That's right, Jeff has his very own distinctive style - he is amazing.
