Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.

Bu sırada, Karadeniz üzerinden içi köle yüklü bir kadırga, İstanbul’a doğru gelmektedir. Kölelerden en ateşli olanı ise, kaderini değiştirecek olan yolculuğa çıktığının henüz farkında değildir. Geri dönmek için çaresiz bir şekilde isyan etmektedir.
Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

Yes it does
I understand Mahidevran's pain and I really felt sorry for her in the first episode. But she completely lost my sympathy in this one. It's understandable that she sees Hurrem as a rival, but that doesn't give her the right to treat her inhumanly. She isn't entitled to Suleiman's love.
In later episodes, Hurrem also becomes guilty of this, as she kills concubines even when she only suspects they slept with the sultan and didn't even confirm it yet (I'm talking about Nadia)
So both of these women were evil. Mahidevran was much worse, but Hurrem is no angel

Hurrem also had something mideveran never had. Which is loyalty undying loyalty. You can see it when she first comes to the privy chamber. She looks around the room, then to suliman. Where as hurrem only has eyes for him. It's true hurrem isn't angel. Just she is unquestionable when it comes to loyalty even over her own children

When Mahadevren and son got to the palace...when she went to Sueliman...first thing she did was look around the room, at the riches, and finery, and his jewelry table.....then...she looked at him, and he noticed it. And, when they came to the palace, even the queen mother gave Mahadevren a little talk about Mustafha and his mouth, saying it was his palace, and ordering people around. Sueliman picked Hurrem...and to be honest...as a concubine...not much she could do about it...however she already adored him, so things progressed. Love Sumbul, always a delight.

Yes, Mahidevran is beautiful but she doesn't understand Sultan as well as Hurrem
It was because she was so selfish and self-centered and delusional about her own self-importance because she's Mustafa's mother. How could she understand Suleyman? She didn't even understand where she stood in life in the harem. She's just delusional and evil.
Hurrem was manipulative, cunning and arrogant but she and Sultan had a deeper connection which he did not have with any other concubines.They both loved each other so much that he broke the tradition and married her.Mahidevran was cunning and whiny but not smart like hurrem.
