I have been learning OBS since 2020, watched over hundreds videos, and this one is definitely THE BEST OBS streaming toturial video!!! Just realized my GPU setting is targeted at intel onbaord UHD Graphics 770 (GPU 0) not my Nvidia 3070 Ti (GPU 1)!!!
Thank you! Just a tiny correction. Not 'MegaBytes', but megaBITS (that's 8 times lower than Bytes). MB measure how much space is on the disk and Mbs measure the transfer speed of bits per second.
You are actually the only person I've seen say use single pass and medium preset. I have 22mbps upload, stream in 1440p with Yt's streamkey and I use 12,500 kbps and my streams are fine.
I'm assuming this will work with my webcam on my Mac ? If so, I'm sure it's not the best quality but I'm taking baby steps. I'm a content creator and want to start live streaming more. I have a camera, I use for my content, but I think I'd have to buy more equipment in order to use it . I prefer not to buy anything extra until I experience live steaming enough to know if I want to get more elaborate while streaming . Your tutorial is one of the best I've seen . Thanks for taking the time to share.
Thank you and yes. Everything I did setting up OBS will work for the mac version of OBS. I have other videos describing live streaming settings and how to setup livestream sources in detail so those may be helpful to you. Take baby steps. Streaming is not for everyone and takes a lot of time and energy. You need to be comfortable talking to yourself for dozens of hours in the beginning because growth is very slow unless you already have a large audience. No point in spending a lot of money for you to decide it isnt fun. Take your time and enjoy it. Its a marathon, not a sprint. I have had some amazing memories while streaming but also some very difficult times too.
@@creatorcology I totally agree that its not easy. I was speaking of not having to use a camera vs my built in cam on the Mac to get started. I did a Google search and I think ( if I comprehended correctly) I don't need anything except the built in cam on my Mac. It don't think I was clear the first time . I am ok with talking in front of people but my big problem is I'm a perfectionist. I've live streamed only about 3-4 times . I didn't like it because no one showed up or maybe 5 people total on another one. As a perfectionist, I want the same quality to match when I create a video for my channel . Its usually poor lighting , choppy audio and no one shows up. This year I I want to fix that, but I don't want to go crazy on equipment , but have the minimum to be better than the past. OBS works on mac for tons of people. Streaming from mac is suboptimal to begin with but people do it. You will never have higher or as high of quality streams as recordings. Thats not how it works. Streams rely on internet speeds + hardware. Recordings rely on just hardware. Internet will always fluctuate as internet providers regularly throttle speeds at different times. And encoding both streams and recordings at the same time is incredibly taxing on a single computers system. Mac OS is generally unfriendly to streaming applications. But OBS in particular has released tons of mac updates in the last 6 months and from I understand its pretty stable for beginners now. I think you might be blaming the software when most likely there is another issue somewhere else in the workflow. Either way. Good luck to your streaming adventure. I hope you figure out a solution that works for you! Maybe try streamyard? Or an alternative?
@@creatorcology No the software has blocked things I used to be able to do that didn't have anything with streaming. Its weird, but just wanted to share. Its too much to type out and it has exhausted me to no end. It is just one of my regrets, but I found a work around until I can afford the time to do without my Mac to send it to Apple, which is hard because its like my car keys, I can't leave without it. Just sharing ...

Hi there. At the moment (until I can get around to doing my own course), I would recommend EposVox's course. He covers loads of professional use cases and every detail imaginable. Bit overwhelming of a course (which is why I want to do a pared down version tbh) but its great at the same time. Btw thats awesome you have been so consistent. Good work!
Hey brother great video, I plan on going live for the first time later today, but I got a bit confused when it came to the multiple GPU's, and determining which is best. My "GPU 0" is an Intel(R) UHD Graphics 360, while my "GPU 1" is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti with Max-Q Design, which is what allows me to run games on my laptop in the first place. I'm already assuming the NVIDIA is the better of the two, but could use the pointers either way. Thanks man
10000% the nvidia one is better. Make sure in the obssettings for the gpu field you put "1". Basically, all laptops come with a "integrated gpu/cpu" combo. This means that it has a smaller barebones gpu attached to the cpu in order to do basic visual tasks. But the Nvidia 1660ti, although not a strong gpu by todays standards, will be way more powerful than the intel gpu. The nvidia cards only job is to be a gpu and it lives by itself. Much like how an actual desktop gpu works. It is usually bigger than the integrated gpu so it can do more work. Good luck on your live session! Dont be discouraged if no one shows up or if it takes a few tries to dial in your settings to your specific internet speed and hardware limitations. Just enjoy talking to yourself and if someone shows up then great! Took me 6 weeks before I made affiliate on Twitch. Took me over 6 months before I had 30 consistent viewers. And that was considered extremely fast at the time. Be patient with yourself. Upload youtube videos built using your streams and get some traffic to funnel back to your streams to make growth quicker. You got this!
just one question about the bitrate. I got about 100k as my answer to all the maths bit, so what should I set my bitrate to in OBS, if i've configured it for 60fps at 1080p?

Remember, you need to go onto youtube and enable livestreaming and sit through the waiting period. Idk why they make people do that. They didnt use to.

I’ve done all of this but when I open my manage broadcast button (3:08) it gives me me the error saying live streaming isn’t enabled even though when I click the live stream to go live I don’t get the timer. Whenever I click go live it tells me my webcam isn’t enabled what do I do to enable it? On my pc I don’t have it disabled.

If I wanted to live stream a pre recorded youtube video, how can I do that using OBS? Can I somehow browse to my TH-cam video using OBS, or do I have to download my video from TH-cam and save it on my local drive in order to use it as a "media source" from OBS? Hope my question makes sense. Since I would be live streaming a pre recorded TH-cam video, I will not be using my camera or microphone, so what video settings would you recommend I use in OBS?
So I have a Question: After Setting up OBS and Clicking LIVE STREAM. My Video plays fine but my Audio does not appear in the LIVE Stream but does play in my Headphones. I can't seem to find any help for this issue. I Love the In Depth explanation of the settings it really Helps
There is a lot of context thats missing. What are you playing on? What mic do you use? How do you have it all setup? What are your windows audio inputs and obs audio inputs set to? Etc...
Is there a specific setting I need to turn on to get the other Encoder Settings or is it just my computer specs? For context I don't have the Tuning Option nor Multipass mode ect.
2 things to try. Make sure you go up to the help tab at the top of OBS and select "check for update". Then go back to the encoding settings section. Go up to the top bar. It may say simple or advanced. If it says advanced, then go to the encoder option. Select h264 if its available. Multipass mode and tuning should be visible if you did everything in order.
yes I have two gpu I dont know which one to use one says gpu 0 intel R uhd graphics the other one is gpu 1 NVidia Geforce RTX how do I know which one to use?
when I set up my stream in OBS and I set it to private and then I decide to send my stream to TH-cam live. It’s still shows private. How do I get the stream live?
Not sure about the private part but you could schedule it and go into youtube manually and change it to to public if your having trouble with OBS changing it.
When I try to connect to my account, I don't see the account when I go to settings, after I pick a channel I can see my channel, but it's in vane. I don't understand why is showing old channels instead of latest ones. Can't clear cache.
Make sure its not auto logging in to the incorrect gmail or the gmail that was signed in first on the browser. Ive had it happen to me sometimes and accidentally chose the wrong email or chose a "manager" email instead of the channels actual email.

I wish it were as simple as press button = fixed. You would need to detail your settings fully, give me computer specs, internet speed, and I would need to look up that game to see what kind of codecs work best. My general recommendation is to lower streaming bitrate if you are on wireless internet thats semi unreliable. If you are hooked in then maybe you need to try a different codec or encoder. Like h264, h265, x264. Try a couple different games first and see how those look. If other games dont perform well then look at your stream from a different device or something to see how it truly looks to the viewer. If still blurry then you need to evaluate hardware. If hardware is solid then evaluate software. If software is solid then evaluate the game itself.

Really depends on service provider, location, and whether or not you are plugged in. Tbh 5.51mb upload speed is really bad for streaming. You need a decent upload speed to stream because you are sending (uploading) your stream data to twitch or youtube. You may need to drop down to 720p 30fps in the video tab, hopefully your stream will be a bit more reliable.

@@CrazyGamer-tm2jj I spent a bit of time talking about bitrate based on internet speed in the video. I believe I linked YT's reccomendations also in the description and showed them on screen. I would check that again.
Hey, maybe you can be the last one to help me. No matter what I set up, I always have blur when I move and my camera is totally pixelated when I move around in the game. I've tried everything in the meantime. I have set the streamkey on TH-cam manually to 1440p60fps with 13mbit, I have taken the Nvidia NVENC HECV. I used P5: good quality as the default setting and selected HLS instead of RTMP for TH-cam. Nothing helps, what else can I do? I have 44Mbit upload and an RTX 3080Ti

I also run a 3080ti and have a 4k monitor though I dont know if I have ever streamed higher than 1080p because most people dont have internet speeds high enough to view 1440p. is it safe to give information of your youtube account to obs studio or twitch account?????? They will have athorization to delete/ alter youtube vedios
Never heard of anyone ever having a problem with it. Can you imagine the lawsuits? Also just because you login to something through OBS doesnt mean the login details are stored there. Usually they are just used as an encryption check and not saved.

What source did you put in? If you want to capture the whole screen hit the plus sign in source panel and select display capture. If you want to get a certain application then you can do the same thing but pick a different option in the source options. I would recommend using your monitor as an "extended screen" rather than a mirror. Then you can select the display capture source and choose the monitor instead of laptop and just move stuff over to the monitor.

@@Bluegrassman12 try looking in display settings and/or change display. In that menu there should be a drop down that allows you to choose the option extend displays.

No problem. Until I can make a video (have been a bit swamped this year with client projects), the quick explanation (at least part of it), would be that he has is cropping, masking, and putting a border around his camera (I am doing something similar as you can see. He went for a rectangle box mask, and then he might have done the same for the screen capture source. He manually resized it then added a mask and border. The border can be made seperately. Everything for both the camera source and the display capture source can be grouped together with their effects and slid in using transitions. The globe in the background is just an animated overlay like the ones I have shown in my vids. Basicslly its just a video file on loop. Probably had it made on fiver or found it somewhere. I know thats a lot to take in but what this guy did is not actually that hard and you can do it too..
Obviously I am assuming that this guy did a live stream. If this stuff was added in editing then thats a whole different but also not difficult process. I do think its a live stream though.

Great explanation. I will follow it so I can set up my YB with OBS. I just updated it. As far as overlays, I use Canva.

Absolutely. Great question. I have videos detailing settings for Twitch and TH-cam.
It also changes based on recording versus streaming.

My video is 16:9 3840x2160 on base and output. My upload speed is 40mbps, what should my bitrate be then?

Use GPU 1. The intel uhd is the dedicated gpu thats combined with the cpu. Its weaker than the Nvidia stand alone gpu.

when I set up my stream in OBS and I set it to private and then I decide to send my stream to TH-cam live. It’s still shows private. How do I get the stream live?
Not sure about the private part but you could schedule it and go into youtube manually and change it to to public if your having trouble with OBS changing it.

When I try to connect to my account, I don't see the account when I go to settings, after I pick a channel I can see my channel, but it's in vane. I don't understand why is showing old channels instead of latest ones. Can't clear cache.
Make sure its not auto logging in to the incorrect gmail or the gmail that was signed in first on the browser. Ive had it happen to me sometimes and accidentally chose the wrong email or chose a "manager" email instead of the channels actual email.

You would need to detail your settings fully, give me computer specs, internet speed, and I would need to look up that game to see what kind of codecs work best.
My general recommendation is to lower streaming bitrate if you are on wireless internet thats semi unreliable. If you are hooked in then maybe you need to try a different codec or encoder. Like h264, h265, x264.
Try a couple different games first and see how those look. If other games dont perform well then look at your stream from a different device or something to see how it truly looks to the viewer. If still blurry then you need to evaluate hardware. If hardware is solid then evaluate software. If software is solid then evaluate the game itself.
Another potential reason is if you are downscaling. Check video tab and make sure your resolutions for base and scaled canvas are the same.

Are you plugged in via ethernet?
Really depends on service provider, location, and whether or not you are plugged in. Tbh 5.51mb upload speed is really bad for streaming. You need a decent upload speed to stream because you are sending (uploading) your stream data to twitch or youtube.
You may need to drop down to 720p 30fps in the video tab, hopefully your stream will be a bit more reliable.

@@CrazyGamer-tm2jj I spent a bit of time talking about bitrate based on internet speed in the video. I believe I linked YT's reccomendations also in the description and showed them on screen. I would check that again.
Hey, maybe you can be the last one to help me. No matter what I set up, I always have blur when I move and my camera is totally pixelated when I move around in the game. I've tried everything in the meantime. I have set the streamkey on TH-cam manually to 1440p60fps with 13mbit, I have taken the Nvidia NVENC HECV. I used P5: good quality as the default setting and selected HLS instead of RTMP for TH-cam. Nothing helps, what else can I do?

Hit me up in a twitter message. Send some pictures of your settings. I also run a 3080ti and have a 4k monitor though I dont know if I have ever streamed higher than 1080p because most people dont have internet speeds high enough to view 1440p.

Never heard of anyone ever having a problem with it. Can you imagine the lawsuits?
Also just because you login to something through OBS doesnt mean the login details are stored there. Usually they are just used as an encryption check and not saved.

What source did you put in? If you want to capture the whole screen hit the plus sign in source panel and select display capture.
If you want to get a certain application then you can do the same thing but pick a different option in the source options.
I would recommend using your monitor as an "extended screen" rather than a mirror. Then you can select the display capture source and choose the monitor instead of laptop and just move stuff over to the monitor.

@@Bluegrassman12 try looking in display settings and/or change display. In that menu there should be a drop down that allows you to choose the option extend displays.

I dont think there is a single service that lets you stream 8k yet. And if there is, I wouldnt have any experience in it lol

No problem. Until I can make a video (have been a bit swamped this year with client projects), the quick explanation (at least part of it), would be that he has is cropping, masking, and putting a border around his camera (I am doing something similar as you can see. He went for a rectangle box mask, and then he might have done the same for the screen capture source. He manually resized it then added a mask and border. The border can be made seperately. Everything for both the camera source and the display capture source can be grouped together with their effects and slid in using transitions. The globe in the background is just an animated overlay like the ones I have shown in my vids. Basicslly its just a video file on loop. Probably had it made on fiver or found it somewhere.
I know thats a lot to take in but what this guy did is not actually that hard and you can do it too..
Obviously I am assuming that this guy did a live stream. If this stuff was added in editing then thats a whole different but also not difficult process. I do think its a live stream though.
