I was mainly experimenting here but often times with large versions of the eyes vs says tight eye I can use the rope itself to cinch on a tree or something else without a using a carabiner. Or in other cases I just didn’t want the biner to be fixed in the one spot I preferred it to have a little play within the eye and lastly with the larger eyes say in pulling over something by hand it was easy to hold/pull the rope in the eye so that was another reason to but again mostly just experimenting with different eyes to see which one I liked more

How do you grab a rope with a wire fid? Tape? I understand I pull the rope through with the wire but I have no idea what about it helps the corners of the rope pass through anything at all. It seems like it would even want to fold around the fid loop.. Havent been able to find the answer after being on the internet for 20 minutes.. +Stephen Well tape want glide as well when it passes between the outer rope cover and inner core if one is present and it largely depends on the fids you use.
+TreeBoi4Life In my opinion its better to splice newer rope which is somewhat slicker and easier to work with but no rope is created equally as in the case of this Yale Poision Ivy which I noticed after splicing all 4 colors that the outer core is sometimes tighter which would make it nearly impossible to feed the core into the cover after making the crossover. I actually insert chicken wire in the video here.

Something I like to do when whipping. Use different colors for each end, and also when you have different lengths of the same rope, nice to visually pick them apart with different colors of whipping. West Marine normally has Red, Green, Blue, Black, White, and gold in the poly. I like to use the Dyneema Whipping twine. Does it stay as strong as just doing a bowline
+albusai A proper splice will always be stronger than any knot including the bowline which is many treemen's favorite knot.
Splice before knotting, always.
@Travis Thacker ropes 101. A knot reduces a ropes strength by 50%. A splice only reduces a ropes strength by 10%.
