    Now that was clear, precise and magical to watch, well done that man. I’ve watched many videos of the same but most are like someone giving you directions of travel. Confusing at best.

    Evan, I've been frustrated with splicing videos from some of the rope manufacturers. They look easy, not so easy. Your explanation, and demo made all the difference. You are a pro, and a great teacher. Thanks

    I struggle with the core back thru the cover from b past a plus a fid. Honestly either some tip I am missing or way more strength than I have.

      Same here. I’ve been struggling to do this with a 14mm line.

    Hi, love your content. I always learn so much from watching your videos instead of just trusting a random source on the internet. I was wondering if you could test the "cowboy bowline" and discuss if it's superior to the normal bowline, I have seen a lot of controversy and was wondering about it. In case you already have tested it, I apologise for not finding the video. Thank you and keep creating amazing content!

    core back through the cover a fid past B is incredibly hard - needed pliers and 30mins. Then there is no way the core splice will "flow" in the last part. Just no way - its solid !

      Same problem. With 5/16” line and the appropriately sized fid.

      @snowmoe113 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LukePighetti I also struggled with a 5/16” line. I even dropped down one fid size to try and slim things down, and it was still a major struggle. Looked effortless in the video. What’s the trick?

    • @jackbrodsky442
      @jackbrodsky442 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to use a smaller sized fid

      Same here 14mm line. On my second try. I’m 3 hrs in on what should be a 15min job 😟

    Just attempted my first splice. Got stuck at putting the core back in the cover. Had to cut the splicing needle out. Any tips to avoid this?

    is this (or do you have) a video on how to splice a double braid with a Dyneema (specific) core?

    How in the hell do you remove the core like it's nothing? I don't get it

  • @itsascam6125
    @itsascam6125 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why is it always so tight trying to sink the core back into the cover? Even using wire to pull it through seems to be to tight where as you do it without a problem. Has your rope got a smaller core? Buy right rope!!! Whats right and whats wrong?

    I can do anything with "old fashioned" 3- or 4-strand rope. The braided topes puzzled med, and the videos explaining how-to made it worse. This is not, simple and to the point.

    Dude I don't think you know what you're talking about i've wasted more rope trying to do it your way and I've only listened to your side I haven't heard anybody else I cannot get past the crossover it is physically impossible one rope is not going to go inside the other one no matter how I try it you go too fast I can positive I've got hours hours listening to you you're missing something you're not telling us something it can't be done it cannot be done the way you're doing it

    • @savingseconds9398
      @savingseconds9398 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same here. Completely stuck at the crossover. I think I am snagging the inner core or its just too tight or something. I have watched this video a dozen times and the longer version repeatedly. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

    • @Toast934
      @Toast934 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This tutorial is really only for a loosely weaved cover. Any high strength/tight weave cover and you will need a winch to pull it closed. This is the way it is done professionally on high tech rope.

  • @onthewater4020

    This is possibly the worst video I've seen on this. Way too fast, very little explanation of why you are going this. Thanks for putting the effort into it but as someone who only does this once or twice a year, this video is about as far from useful as one can get. Your verbal description of where to taper the outer layer is completely wrong, resulted in three destroyed lines that I now have to replace because there isn't enough extra length to splice again. This is rubbish.

      Check out the longer form version from the same channel. I thought his direction was very clear. Just trying to figure out how he makes it look so easy….
