I am running a half marathon in a few weeks that is mostly uphill for the first 9 miles, then downhill to the finish. Pacing is a nightmare. After your pace issues in this race, would you consider taking on a hilly race with a detailed pace strategy to see if you can hit your targets each km? Better yet, try to run the same pace every km for an entire hilly race!

Here’s a fun challenge for any of you: come over for the Paris - Versailles. It’s 16,3 km but with the infamous côte des Gardes in the middle - 2.2 km long, average 7% incline. The race starts at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, goes along the Seine and then up through the Meudon Forest to finish in front of the Chateau de Versailles. Last Sunday in September. It would be great to see you there. … And then, of course, there is the City to Surf in Sydney, but the travel costs and jet lag aren’t quite the same…

Talking, holding a camera and only just missing your A goal! Amazing Andy! You passed me at the start like your backside was on fire, I did wish you all the best but you was a man on a mission! Well done.🙌👏👏👏🦸‍♂️

Good run Andy, I've found the older you get the more training you need to achieve a good performance, you should be proud with your accomplishments, both past and present.
I'm 36 in October and did my first competitive 10km last month and got 34:59, wasn't expecting it, but I'm not going to complain.
You definitely do get caught up in the atmosphere in the first km.
