    If I was learning again, yeah it could be a toss up between the MT-125 and the CB125R.
    The CB125R looks better to my middle aged eyes, maybe 18 year olds prefer the MT-125 look.
    Sound like the MT-125 (14.7 BHP) and shift cam cleverness has the CB125R (13.1 BHP) beaten on performance, but when on 125s they're all under powered.
    The CB125R is about £500 cheaper. I would have liked the full 14.7 BHP on the CB125R I had. If they were the same price I'd have the MT-125. Since the MT-125 is dearer, I don't know ...
    On to the A2 class ...
    As for the MT-03 well that is up against the CB500F. They're now about the same price at around £5500.
    The CB500F looks better (personal taste), has the full 47 BHP at lower revs, more torque from its 471cc engine (MT-03 is 321cc), better MPG (75 ish MPG as compared to about 60 ish ), a larger tank (17 ish litres instead of 14 litres) and a better range ( 290 ish miles instead of 200 ish miles )
    If you like light bikes, yes the MT-03 is 20 kg ish lighter than the CB500F. If you like having to make the engine scream (due to less torque ) then maybe.
    However to me at the same price, it is a no brainer. I'd have the CB500F.
    I haven't even considered the Z400 or Duke 390. I guess for me Kawasaki's are always too green and KTM's are a bit insecty looking, but some people like those. Maybe I like the "boring" looks of the CB500F !!
    I'm not surprised Yamaha don't sell too many MT-03s. They need more performance, less fuel consumption and to be a few hundred pounds cheaper. The A2 market is selling mainly to a younger riders who are more price sensitive and want as much "bang per buck" as possible.
    Yamaha sell a lot of MT-07s, but that's because it has a good "bang per buck".

    125cc is my my prefered engine size due to its fuel consumption efficiency, and perfect as commuter/adventure bike.

    MT-125 is finally up there with the competition. Can't say the same about the MT-03. These updates are not enough to make it a serious competitor against the Duke 390 and the Z400. Both MT-03 and the YZF R3 were done the day that Ninja 400 came out in December 2017 - Yamaha should have updated the R3 and the MT-03 immediately back then. Two years on and still minor rudimentary updates here and there... Come on Yamaha where is that 399cc 48 bhp bike with good brakes and suspension?

    it's not just 17 year olds on 125s, I had a CB125R at 50 years old. Yeah I'm in a minority, it took me 33 years too long to get on a bike !
    (and I guess the bike is now back with a rider of the expected age, since I passed my test and now have something different )

    The whole time he was talking bout the mt125 I thought twas the Mt03 from looks🤣mt125 looks way better than MT125

    The 125 has usd forks while the MT-07 doesn't, so weird of Yamaha to do that.

    Why can't we get these in India. How much longer should we endure with shitty models and powerless motorcycles. We are one the largest two wheel users in the World. C'mon Yamaha, what the hell???

      No one is ready to pay for it. Plain and simple. India is the largest market for bikes.....50-200cc. Just look at the sales of the dominar and rr310..those are made in india and still show terrible sales figures. It makes no sense for foreign brands to make higher capacity bikes here and as for importing...look at the sales of the r3.

      Indians can't even afford a 959 panigale, I doubt there are even 100 units of those bike in your country!
