I have come to the conclusion that there are two types of men.... those that have to shave and those of us who love to shave. I honestly feel slobby when I take a day off from shaving as I feel a little bit undressed. I look forward to your Sunday morning shaves, complete with great stories and fabulous meal prep ideas. Hi Paul, happy Spring bud! Ooh. I used to love Palmolive. Haven't smelled it for years. Chicken thighs are wonderful. Tastiest bit. I recently acquired a mixed badger/boar brush and it's really amazing. Unlike a synthetic, badger or boar, it feels unique. Stiff and springy with a bit of prickle but with really soft face feel. Wonderful. Made by Extro Cosmesi. That looked like an enjoyable shave, thanks, be well.

As far as I know, the Wilkinson Stick and the Palmolive Stick were made on the same machine. This machine was probably very old (early 20th century) and required a lot of maintenance. Unfortunately, as sales of traditional products continue to decline, it was apparently not worthwhile to continue operating the machine. I got this information from a supermarket owner who is himself involved in the wet shaving scene. Because the rumour has been circulating for quite a while, I had already set aside a few of the sticks some time ago.

For me, a vintage Gillette shave gets the automatic thumbs up before I start watching, and of course it delivered like always. The Wilkinson stick provides a good, slick shave. Great shave, Paul. Cannot miss with any of those products. And fwiw, I look to your channel to fly the vintage shave equipment flag more so than any other tube shave channel. Sure, you also try new products but you seem to gravitate towards the vintage stuff imo, which I also prefer. Very tasty sounding, that meal of yours. Have a wonderful week, Paul. I always like using shave sticks as they always produce consistent lather and I feel like I'm not wasting a lot of soap.
Great Shave Paul, Good Classic soap the Wilkinson shave stick, and The Gillette Superseed Flartip I only have the all nickel plated version I have had a look in the past for the red and blue tip and black but they are at stupid prices, but I'm happy to say that I bagged a Gillette Slim Adjustable or Slim Boy as some like call it I did look at a fat boy OMG near two hundred pounds but I had the slim adjustable at forty five pounds which was a good deal I thought, and a beautiful display by Mrs H yet again take care and have a great week 😀👍

Funny enough planned a Monday shave with Wilkinson Sword shave stick and a Gillette Old Type.
Boar is still my go-to brush. It just feels right for me when I think of traditional wet shaving.

Vintage shaving is always enjoyable, something about going back to a more simple time. But today I'm going all out modern, SOTD: PAA Cube, A&E "Kahlifa" soap/splash/EDP, Wolf Whiskers custom badger brush, REX "Konsul" Adj. slant razor w/Feather blade, alum, witch hazel and AV 5in1 balm...Beautiful. Hi Paul! Great shave today! I love those vintage Gillettes, nothing beats the quality!! Just recently I purchased a New Old Stock Gillette Executive Gold Fatboy in mint condition along with a mint condition case!! They usually go for around $300+ on eBay. I got mine for just $90 + shipping!!!! Unbelievable!! I don't think the seller knew what they actually had! I was in the right time, right place!!! Those colored tip razors (blue, silver, red) inspired the adjustable series (Fatboy, Slim, Super)! Hopefully seeing these vintage razors in use will inspire a cartridge user to explore DE shaving. Thanks for all your work for this community!! I ALWAYS look forward to your videos!!

Loved the shave. You are right, its nice using the old simple products at times. Ive not got any shave stick yet. There are so many soaps to choose from now, its hard to no what to get at times lol. I am a fan of shave sticks, and have a cache of Palmolive shave sticks that I purchased pre-pandemic. Traditional mass produced shave sticks are becoming difficult to find, and they seem to be going up in price in the USA. We do have a couple of under the radar options from Razorock (Italian Barber), and from HC&C (White Star shave stick, which now comes in a bar shape). These are not mass market soaps, but they are available and priced reasonably in the USA.
Perhaps someday I will get around to trying the WS shave stick.
I did acquire a Gillette Blue flare tip, but quickly decided that I prefer the uncolored flare tip, or the 1940's style super speed even more. The grey whiskers are too tough for a razor as mild as the Blue tip. It probably would have been perfect for my teenaged self.
I do favor the vintage hardware. The bang for the buck is unbeatable. Maybe the modern soap performs better at about the same price, but I like the simplicity of the shave stick.
Great shave. I’ve found the WS BLUE STICK to be way batter than you’d think it would be and it’s my favorite for carry-on air travel along with a Col Conk synthetic (boar like) collapsible travel brush.

For my Sunday SOTD, I’m using the Gillette Slim Adjustable with an Astra Green, Semogue Owners Club Boar Brush with Cherry Wood Handle, The Holy Black Lavender Creeper soap and aftershave, with some Nivea Men’s cooling lotion to finish the shave. My meal of the day will be some Pan seared Mahi crusted in macadamia nuts, wild rice, grilled asparagus, and street corn. Have a wonderful day and stay safe!!!!
Today's shave was a 1977 Gillette Super Adjustable with a Bic Chrome blade on setting 5. First time with the Bic blade. Turned out to be a great shave! I found the Bic blades sharp and smooth. Other items were an Omega S-brush, Fine Lavender soap and aftershave.
Always wanted to try the Wilkinson shave stick. How does it compare to the Palmolive stick?
Frank, Rumor has it that Paul has a basement full of Palmolive shave sticks that he snatched up for 75p when he heard that production was being discontinued in the UK. That seems to imply a preference. The Palmolive smells soapy, fresh, and clean. The palm oil in it makes it slick, for a mass produced commercial soap. But, he observed in this video that the Wilkinson Sword stick may be even slicker than Palmolive!

Hey Paul. Nice shave with the Gillette Blue Tip vintage razor. The ‘58 Gillette TV Special D-1 is my favorite SS razor. I go to it all of the time. I only use synthetic brushes, easier to take care of.

I am lately using the Yaqi Katana razor head mounted on a Gillette tech handle, and I am in complete awe of it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient scraper. A true bang for money.

My bf just uses an electric shaver but he has a beard anyway... He went to Just Jents in Llandudno and got charged £17.50 just for a short back nd sides... He nearly fainted!! 🤣 🤣
The inflated price of shave sticks has got to the stage where I will not be buying them. The only cheap one I could find was the Boots own brand one but I'm pretty sure that has recently been discontinued.
