Yeah mate thats a bloody perfect car with the 307 , that i love the most , what a underated motor they were , but on road would make you soon realise how strong they pulled , even with the std 2GV CARB and powerglide auto 2.78 banjo diff easily past the 120 mph on speedo had a 69 hk prem like this set up and my hg Brougham 308 4 GV tri matic 3.08 diff , in drag the hk prem slower off the start while Brougham is off like a rocket to hundred 130 kmh in 1st , drive mode not holding it , this hg was stock as a rock , same as prem was , both these cars lived beside each other in our shed for 21 years before selling them regretfully for buying house ,, prem had just 25,514 original miles when we bought it from jim Middleton in Sydney back in 98 , what a car like brand new inside and sand paper texture paint on roof , bonnet and boot but sides of car buffed up spectacular silvermink colour dark er red interior inside unmarked and original spare tyre unused in the pristine boot , all papers books the lot 7,800 in 98 and this car was up their with the most low miled and best condition of the HK TO HG series

Why did you turn off the engine before taking the recorder around the back? Would have been good to hear the exhaust note.🤔

Never thought they made a 5lt , 4 spd manual in HK , be interesting yo see the build sheet , always thought you could only get a manual with the 327 , but hey it was 1968 so I guess you could order what you wanted , be interested to know

Hk series only had the uS sourced 307 Chev (5L) and then Holdens own 308 (5L) was ready and developed to go into the ht and hg series. And like you said if you wanted a manual then you got one

@@Prodibber - HK had the 327 and the 307, both from the US; but the 307 was only ever with the 2sp Powerglide - until this car. Not saying it's not ex-factory, but never seen it referenced even as a possibility anywhere. Wonder why the original owner would bother special-ordering a 307 with manual, when the 327 with manual was a standard.

Well, I stand corrected - there's another YT video of Shannons with a '69 HK in this spec (but white). Strange move though - surely the cost between the 307 and 327 couldn't have been that great.

@@thosdot6497 69 was HT not HK , Many engine options in that year which was the first of the Australian built V8's , 253ci , 308ci & the Bathurst editions 350 Chevrolet,

@@shanebaptie882 - I thought 69 would have been too late for an HK, but that's what Shannons had it listed as. Guess you can't trust anyone's headlines these days.

Very nice car! Would of been nice to see it with the door, boot lid & bonnet shut to see the gaps!

You get a quick look at the left hand side door at 3:09, doesn't look too far out too me and given how the rest of the car appears, I wouldn't expect anything too rough. cheers.

Yes there was GTS 307 chevy, which they called a 5ltr, which could be ordered as auto or manual but the big boy, the 327 could only be had as a manual. cheers.

They built about 20. They had a few manual 307 engines & built them with GTS 327 specs . Trac rods ( lousy brakes).etc. There was a Road Test in the Melbourne Herald on it . I kept it for a while . My father had a Silver One as a GMH company car. First car I drove .

Inca gold , beige interior, wow nice combo , my Brougham was colour inside like that with Persian sand outside , hey we still got the original wind screen for the hk prem ,, still has the safety stickers, YOUR VEHICLE IS FITTED WITH A ZONED TOUGHENED WINDSHIELD FOR YOUR ADDED SAFETY ,,, on it unmarked condition,,, for sale if your interested in it for your hk munro , as only Brougham were laminated original
Have factory holden hand brake cable in packet still , and some giant big book off part listing and work on every thing HK TO HG even every pieces of sheet metal with numbers and description and including layout of entire body builds from everything hk to hg , a serious book

Had one that color with beige trim in about 76. 307 4 speed. Also had a silver one with black, a burgundy one with black and a warwick yellow one with beige trim. All 4 speeds. Best one I owned though was Warwick yellow with black 307 powerglide.
Also had a couple of 186S GTS,,, boring!! Did a deal on a absolute base 2 door 186 3 speed crunch drum brake Kingswood level Monaro which I had intention of fitting a Chev. Very clean car but I did another deal on one of the 307 manuals. And that bloke put a 327 in it.
Owned probably 20 V8 HKs over the decades, Kingswood, Prems, Broghams and the Monaros. sold the last one in 99. Base 5 litre Prem wagon no radio and split bench. After some TLC it drove really nice.
Had a few HT HGs as well 350 auto both HT & HG. 253 Prem, 253 white hot special. Then went later model HQ HJ etc
    Now I drive Fords!!

My auto GTS had a 4 speed fitted after I sold it and used all the right parts so unless you knew you would not pick it
