This is why I loved the Zero series more then any other Megaman. How deep and demanded it can be for the players but doesn't really hold back those of us that well never can quite get to that level and have to charge spam to win. As someone who loves Zero 1 to bits and pieces, I must say, this video helped me with some techniques I wasn't sure about. Thank you! Also Enemy Hall in the beginning was a nice touch, I love that theme.
WARNING, This comment contains both spoilers for Megaman Zero 4 and a vital component for Junk Armor. Specifically the boots because this part will give you grief if you don't pay attention. Do Not Read unless you are struggling to find the missing pieces. *Junk Head:* _Glass Cannon:_ found in Sol Titania's stage, her Stage's sub boss minions drop these. Farm them. You may need to revisit a few times. _Serpent Gear:_ Fenri Lunaedge's stage's sub boss drop. Same story. Revisit to farm. _Junk:_ just mix up parts that aren't in a recipe to make this. You get it through experimentation naturally. *Junk Body:* _Ceratanium:_ found laying around in various stages. My favorite place is the underground forest after the sub boss. At the bottom of the shaft of the first set of crumbling hanging bars is a wall you can slide on to remove. Hidden behind it is Ceratanium. If you have extra lives on hand, kill yourself on a spike and it'll respawn the item. You'll need it for the S Crystal. _GangaGun:_ Mino Magnus or Heat Genblem stages. Looks like a dome with a drill. Break them for parts. _S Crystal:_ you craft it with V. Fire (grunt enemy found almost everywhere that shoots a ball that ignites on impact), Ceratanium, Faital (Found in Heat Genblem stage, looks like a cylinder and found in the barrel of the laser. Be careful when farming) and Mechameson (Found in Pegasolta Eclair, Tech Kraken, and Popla Cocapetri's stages. Another cylindrical enemy that spits 3 types of enemies out. Which each drop their own parts) _Junk:_ same as head. *Junk Foot:* the bane of my existence _Moloid:_ Moloids in the first intermission stage. The enemies with the hammers in the camp stage in Zero 4. Farm these enemies for parts. End them for a couple of armor pieces you need to scratch that completionist itch. Don't stop unless you are packed with moloid pieces because they *ONLY* appear in the first intermission stage where the human settlement is attacked. _BeamWalker:_ Area Zero. And other stages they are common in. I personally prefer Area Zero for the music. Takes your mind off the parts hunting. _Bombadeer:_ the red enemies that come out of mechamesons. So farm these before ending the big guys. _Junk:_ As Above, So Below. *Getting the full effect of the Junk/Galacta Armor.* All you need to do is equip all three pieces and make sure you have no cyber elf abilities active. That's it. Edit: spelling errors corrected
One more thing, to maximize getting parts. As soon as you get the Cyber Elf. *FEED IT!!!* farm those E Crystals so you can get that item drop rate ability unlocked in the Hacker Elf ability tree. This will ensure the grind will be less painful. Especially for the Moloids. Screw these things for only appearing in ONE stage! If you are worried about the score for that area for the elf use. I suggest Elf Body chip. *Elf Body:* _Ceratanium:_ read my original comment. As long as you have plenty of extra lives you can farm that location quickly of Ceratanium. _Beeneran:_ found in the same stage I recommended the Ceratanium. It's a plant like enemy that upon opening releases bees. _Mettaur:_ Found in two areas but I heavily recommend Popla Cocapetri's stage. Just be sure to pull the bottom plugs on the tower last and you'll enter a section of the stage where you'll find the area FLOODED with these guys. Farm to your heart's content with respawning Mettaur. _ScrapElf:_ ok this one is actually fickle. It's in Fenri Lunaedge's stage but I implore you. *DO NOT GO TO THE STAGE DURING A SNOW STORM* You need sunlight and the Z Knuckle using a cieling light to farm these things. They are found just before you meet up with the boss. I recommend you beat this mission first then come back to farm because it WILL take a while. What it takes to get the parts is you chase these undead cyber elves into sunlight with lights you Z Knuckle on the way up into the hallway. But be careful. These things can possess Pantheon Corpses that you CAN destroy for their own parts, however the scrap elves themselves CAN ALSO damage you. So be careful when farming both. The Elf Body will reduce the score penalty by one so you are allowed an extra ability on your cyber elf. Which should allow you to farm Moloids by the time you enter this stage if you farmed for this body.
Dude, I don't know how I got here, but I'm a guy that played Z1 a lot, I beat it sub 2 hours after getting charge attacks, and while I knew about reversals, I didn't really use them. I'll mention another Capcom franchise by saying I'm motivated to play the first three Zero games again, but flashier. I might also buy the Z/ZX collection if the specs for it don't fail me, like the X one...
Big boy Magnus really flexing on us with that RAID Sponsorship, smh my head Ok, with the meme out of the way, this guide was more than worth all the wait. I'll be the first to admit that I crutched myself on charge attack spam to muscle my way through Z1/2 specifically, so I'm glad there's now a good one-stop area for Zero series tech as a whole. Very professional and well structured guide as a whole. Big ups, my dude. Also got reminded of funny moments from the run like that Recoil Rod vs Helicopter clip lmao.
"It's only the best game eveeeeeer" -Sellout I appreciate it, bro. Considering these games hardly ever allude to it's tech, spamming charges on instinct isn't really a bad thing. With the way they present things, it's probably one of the first strategies a new player would gravitate towards.
You know it's funny, someone like you going through all this trouble for a great great guide like this. Meanwhile I've seen people on twitter who adamantly refuse to even assign anything to shoulder buttons...
While replaying the Zero titles with the Mega Man Zero/ ZX Legacy Collection, I was starting to realize that there were plausible combos in the Zero series, but this is on a whole other level. Excellent video, Magnus- I will certainly try to work these into my playstyle.
I don't plan on getting these games for awhile but I'm always interested in checking out interesting speedrun tech, thanks for showing it off in one big video!
Still blows my mind how much depth this game has even after 15+ years, The Zero games are difficult but so damn satisfying when you understand it's mechanics.
I am a complete and utter newcomer, I played zero 4 for hours when I was around 6 and that’s still to this day my only experience with mega man, I decided to pick up the mega man zero collection because I wanted to see what I was doing as a kid, having a blast but literally no clue what I’m doing, your video is an absolute godsend as I’m god awful at the game
This was an excellent video! I am so happy that I found this video! I haven't played the Zero series games in a very, very long time, and I hadn't become fully aware of the speed running scene until about 2013. Because of that, I was completely unaware of the advanced tech and strategies that exist in these games. Thank you for sharing all of this! By the way, I agree with you that the Recoil Rod rules! It's one of the reasons that Zero 3 is my favorite game in the series.
Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this. I only knew of the reversal because I watched speedruns and tried it myself on the DS Zero Collection but I assumed only the Z saber could do it. Gonna share the video with some friends who's interested in the collection on discord.
Sweet man appreciate the guide. Megaman Z is something I’ve had on my radar for about 10 years but never remembered to buy, so with the most recent rerelease I’ll put this tech to work.
Im so happy MMZ/ZX collection finally got out. They're surely my favorite Mega Man series and seeing people talking about them and doing videos, like this one, again just makes my day
As someone who has played these games religiously on my 3DS in high school, it’s crazy to think I was able to figure out only 1/4 of the tech shown off on this video by myself (mainly the Z-Saber combos) and now that I bought the collection again for the switch I can’t wait to attempt to learn and master tech I never thought existed until now. The Zero series may not have been as insanely popular as the X series but in my opinion the Zero series was always better due to mainly the story and gameplay improvements compared to the X series. I still fondly remember showcasing the Zero series to my friends in high school and how impressed they were with the games, even more impressed on how easy I made them look lol.
My man! I havent watched past the first minute of the video yet but I'm so glad you've posted this! I even recognize your voice from a weapon leveling guide in mmz1 so I know you wont disappoint.
I've played these games all my life and I had absolutely zero (heh) idea that any of this stuff was in the games. Just goes to show how mechanically solid these games are even after all this time. Now if only I was good enough to even beat them consistently, let alone pull this off
Just...woww. I play this game with just mashing the buttons and hope for the best. Did not even know there is a technicalities on how to play properly. Now I feel like wanna re-play the game with this in mind. Thanks for the video, man.
This is actually such an awesome amount of information. I'm not a speed runner but there's a lot here I'd like to use when revisiting the games, I bet it'd make them a lot more fun.
Dude thank you for this, I cant wait to try this out. I always been a fan of these games and with the collection out and my craving for speedrunning Ill do you proud man. Thanks again for this information.
Wow dude I too have 20+ years of Megaman and have played them all and I'm pretty damn good but I had no idea Zero could be played like this. You're an amazing player. Cool stuff
I've been in love with the zero games since I first played them, so a full guide of how to actually be good at them is super helpful and very much appreciated. You've done the internet a great justice
Thanks for the video, learning about how complex the combo system is... Just, amazing. Have played these games for about half of my life, and didn't even know about the complexity of this (did I even use the right word?) Amazing stuff, as always :3
@@MagnusZero I’m pretty sure I subconsciously taught myself to use reversals back when I played Zero 2 and 3 regularly, but then I stopped playing them for a while and completely forgot. This tech is no doubt excellent both in the games and in Z-Chaser!
Just got this game again after losing it when I was 12 many moons ago. So cool to see a video like this out there for this series. I still love it after all this time. Good stuff man!
"Mega Man Zero gameplay is some of the tightest and most technical in the franchise, yet the games themselves drop very little hints (if none at all) on how things like the combo system work." PREACH MAH BRUTHA¡¡
I've had zero 3 for like 12 years and I never knew the green armor made combos faster. It always bugged me why would they give you a chip to reduce your weight when the only obstacle you could use it against it is in the same stage where you obtain it. Now it finally makes sense hahahaha
When these games came out in the 2000’s, I learned to master the gameplay and I went hardcore, no power ups, no cyber elf’s, just memorizing each stage and memorizing each boss pattern. My friends thought I was nuts considering the difficulty curve in the Zero games, but I was a purist, still am. I was that way with the X games too, just used base X and nothing else.
I've never been good at these games but I've always enjoyed them, but when I saw that first clip with the recoil rods my only though was "i don't have the hand eye coordination to ever be able to do that". My jaw just dropped
Thanks man I found this video randomly just when I bought the collection for ps4 and some strats I knew since gba. Time to refresh them old skills and he'll make some new ones
I never knew this game series had any of these techniques. I have each of the games, and now the legacy, so I expected to slog through these games. Thank you so much.
the megaman zero series has been my favorite out of all the megaman series, ive been playing since i was 10 i think (16 now) and i had no idea there was such cool stuff like this till now, i think i want to get into speed running :) ive been watching your videos all day and cant stop! so ty :)))
Thanks, though I can't take credit for the backgrounds. Someone else made that beautiful copyright-free animation for free. But I'm also learning how to make my own background animations from scratch.
I knew a good deal of this and I feel proud of this. Then I see the stuff I didn’t know and am mindblown. This is an amazing video and is the guide to taking your game to the next level and I will definitely reference this for combos in the future
The fact that I've been playing these games since I got the DS Zero collection and only just now have I found out how much depth there is to playing them well amazes me
I didn’t learn much about combos since I right after normal I went straight for the single slash no charge or ability hard mode (except for a few weapons). But I didn’t learn all of the universal tech on my own trying to A-S rank all of the games on that difficulty. It was for sure really fun. The comboes seem pretty cool but it def looks like it makes the game a bit too easy and I already found normal mode to be a cake walk so I can never go back haha. Maybe when I get the Z collection I’ll play 3 again on normal and see what I can come up with. Great video I learned a lot!.
Thanks, man. This video exceeded my expectations in positive reception, so I'll definitely do more guides when ideas come to mind. Right now, I'm working on getting my Zero 4 no damage run recorded, but since I've been seeing some players confused about how the hit priority system works, I might make a Combo System video in between the no damage run.
Probably the best video explaining the gameplay of the Zero saga, I think this guide will be very useful for new players, you are amazing how you play xD I know all these techniques, but I never knew the machines properly, I continue to learn and thanks to This video I noticed several errors, however, you have my admiration and a new sub! I'm sorry my English, I'm not very good at speaking
I loved these game so much as a kid, and as an adult i feel like i love em even more! I had a friend back in the day that was so CRAZY with the tech but it was so hard for me to emulate lol Awesome vid! Thanks!
That was an really good guide =D make me want to try some of it out in the future myself =) Looking forward to that =D Thanks for this video, I hope we can share it far enough so that lot's of people will see it and try this stuff =)
I played all these games a decade ago on an emulator. pulling off those combos on a keyboard before I even knew there were a thing makes my knuckles ache at the thought. but damn I didn't know it was that deep. yo inti creates is king! and you are their loyal knight sharing with us the secrets of battle.
If I ever got famous enough to do sponsored stuff I’d collaborate with Bad Dragon XD Great video man. I LOVE these games so far. Picked up the collection and have been studying stuff like this.
Just like you I grew up playing mega man zero 3 till this day is the best action I’ve ever played on the gba so many hours out into that game even way past it’s time these games will forever be good
Thank you so much for the guide man! I play Devil May Cry at a high level so to see this really caught my eye! Hope I can get my hands on it soon! Great stuff!
Since I can't afford the collection, I managed to get the roms of Mega Man Zero and beat it in less than 3 days. It felt weird at first, but I got used to it and it was fun!
So... This is how the legendary God of Destruction is supposed to be maneuvered? No wonder everyone talks so highly of Zero if this is truly how he moves and fights in canon... What a monster! Lol I just watched the speed runs and honestly what a beast.
I played the Megaman Zero series when I was a kid on the Gameboy. Struggled with even finishing them with all the cyber elves used. Then went on to trying to get A-rank on everything on de DS collection. This guide really helped me with really getting better, and I'm on my journey to S-rank everything on Hard Mode now with the Zero collection.
Honestly, if i didnt need to be asleep soon, id be grabbing my switch and working out some zero 3 combos. This is gonna be alotta fun after school, tho

_Junk:_ just mix up parts that aren't in a recipe to make this. You get it through experimentation naturally.
*Junk Body:*
_Ceratanium:_ found laying around in various stages.
Which each drop their own parts)
_Junk:_ same as head.
*Junk Foot:* the bane of my existence
_Moloid:_ Moloids in the first intermission stage.
*Getting the full effect of the Junk/Galacta Armor.*
All you need to do is equip all three pieces and make sure you have no cyber elf abilities active.
*Elf Body:*
_Ceratanium:_ read my original comment.
FINALLY! About time someone covered the tech. This is part of what makes it so replayable and fun.
Big boy Magnus really flexing on us with that RAID Sponsorship, smh my head
Ok, with the meme out of the way, this guide was more than worth all the wait.
"It's only the best game eveeeeeer" -Sellout
I appreciate it, bro.
I played these as a kid and to think there's so much tech to learn in them. Crazy.
I don't plan on getting these games for awhile but I'm always interested in checking out interesting speedrun tech, thanks for showing it off in one big video!
Still blows my mind how much depth this game has even after 15+ years, The Zero games are difficult but so damn satisfying when you understand it's mechanics.
Thanks Magnus my Flazin Blizard combo would’ve never existed weren’t for this video
I knew of the Combo system a while back, but I didn't know it would be *this* in-depth
Makes these games a lot more interesting than before
I am a complete and utter newcomer, I played zero 4 for hours when I was around 6 and that’s still to this day my only experience with mega man, I decided to pick up the mega man zero collection because I wanted to see what I was doing as a kid, having a blast but literally no clue what I’m doing, your video is an absolute godsend as I’m god awful at the game
You can always just charge up and attack when it's safe
It's ok im awful too
This was an excellent video!
I'm glad you enjoyed and found this useful. Thanks!
I always thought that those kinds of gameplay were only possible in TAS, but man was I wrong, thanks for opening my eyes man
Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this. I only knew of the reversal because I watched speedruns and tried it myself on the DS Zero Collection but I assumed only the Z saber could do it. Gonna share the video with some friends who's interested in the collection on discord.
Glad this could prove useful in that regard. Thanks man!
Finally some great mmz content on YT!! One of the best series on DS!
Sweet man appreciate the guide. Megaman Z is something I’ve had on my radar for about 10 years but never remembered to buy, so with the most recent rerelease I’ll put this tech to work.
I've been a fan of this series for almost 10 years now. I had no idea there was so much you could do with the games mechanics.
The Zero Knuckle just needed a 3-4 hit combo. Just looks like he's grabbing someone's balls instead of punching someone.
Omg, this video appeared in my recomendationa after watching a trailer for the new zero/zx collection, good stuff dude! You gaines a sub :D
Dude thank you for this, I cant wait to try this out. I always been a fan of these games and with the collection out and my craving for speedrunning Ill do you proud man. Thanks again for this information.
Started Zero 1 and I'm honestly a fan of thr chip system, it forces you to be careful and really helps getting better
That was best intro I have ever seen for a game tech guide on TH-cam. Earned a sub from me.
Wow dude I too have 20+ years of Megaman and have played them all and I'm pretty damn good but I had no idea Zero could be played like this. You're an amazing player. Cool stuff
I had no idea you could even combo at all. I assumed white flashes meant invincible so I just charge, hit, and run... This is crazy.
I've been in love with the zero games since I first played them, so a full guide of how to actually be good at them is super helpful and very much appreciated. You've done the internet a great justice
Thanks for the video, learning about how complex the combo system is... Just, amazing. Have played these games for about half of my life, and didn't even know about the complexity of this (did I even use the right word?) Amazing stuff, as always :3
very helpful! i hope new players enjoy this amazing line of games!!
Reversals...
Me before I see em: Okay he's probably talking like weaknesses.
Me as I am shown REVERSALS: WAIT WHAT!? SWORD HAS ACTIVE FRAMES!?
Lol, yup. Pretty much every attack has active frames.
Nowimmotivated.jpeg
@@MagnusZero I’m pretty sure I subconsciously taught myself to use reversals back when I played Zero 2 and 3 regularly, but then I stopped playing them for a while and completely forgot. This tech is no doubt excellent both in the games and in Z-Chaser!
I still have Zero 2 for Gamboy and it's still functional, definitely my favorite 2D games. So happy to see people still make videos on this
Just got this game again after losing it when I was 12 many moons ago. So cool to see a video like this out there for this series. I still love it after all this time. Good stuff man!
"Mega Man Zero gameplay is some of the tightest and most technical in the franchise, yet the games themselves drop very little hints (if none at all) on how things like the combo system work."
PREACH MAH BRUTHA¡¡
I've had zero 3 for like 12 years and I never knew the green armor made combos faster. It always bugged me why would they give you a chip to reduce your weight when the only obstacle you could use it against it is in the same stage where you obtain it. Now it finally makes sense hahahaha
Attack Speed go BRRRRRRR
When these games came out in the 2000’s, I learned to master the gameplay and I went hardcore, no power ups, no cyber elf’s, just memorizing each stage and memorizing each boss pattern. My friends thought I was nuts considering the difficulty curve in the Zero games, but I was a purist, still am. I was that way with the X games too, just used base X and nothing else.
I'm a completionist, had to 100 each stage or i couldn't sleep at night lol
Same. So many weeks spent trying to perfect my runs of each stage for 100s in all categories on each.
I've never been good at these games but I've always enjoyed them, but when I saw that first clip with the recoil rods my only though was "i don't have the hand eye coordination to ever be able to do that". My jaw just dropped
I've been a fan of the Zero for such a long time. Never knew this.thanks
Thanks man I found this video randomly just when I bought the collection for ps4 and some strats I knew since gba. Time to refresh them old skills and he'll make some new ones
And now I need to go back and replay these games all over again... again.
I never knew this game series had any of these techniques. I have each of the games, and now the legacy, so I expected to slog through these games. Thank you so much.
I played this games when they got out and I'm now playing them again in the collection but never discover any of these tech so thank you for sharing.
the megaman zero series has been my favorite out of all the megaman series, ive been playing since i was 10 i think (16 now) and i had no idea there was such cool stuff like this till now, i think i want to get into speed running :) ive been watching your videos all day and cant stop! so ty :)))
The bgms in entire video looks so nice
Thanks, though I can't take credit for the backgrounds. Someone else made that beautiful copyright-free animation for free. But I'm also learning how to make my own background animations from scratch.
I knew a good deal of this and I feel proud of this.
Then I see the stuff I didn’t know and am mindblown. This is an amazing video and is the guide to taking your game to the next level and I will definitely reference this for combos in the future
The fact that I've been playing these games since I got the DS Zero collection and only just now have I found out how much depth there is to playing them well amazes me
This vid made me play megaman games once again... thanks dood.
Imagine a 3D game with this kind of gameplay.
Devil May Cry?
I beat all of these games as a kid somehow. Some of these I figured out as a kid but you took the game to a new level
Honestly been wanting a video like this for a long time now. Thank you.
This is so rad I had no idea I could do any of this. I can't wait to try this out for myself please make some more tech videos I'd love to see them.
@@MagnusZero I'll be looking forward to it, take your time.
Thanks, bud! Also, don't worry. I understand you clearly. You speak english better than some natives here, lol.
I loved these game so much as a kid, and as an adult i feel like i love em even more! I had a friend back in the day that was so CRAZY with the tech but it was so hard for me to emulate lol
Awesome vid! Thanks!
That was an really good guide =D make me want to try some of it out in the future myself =) Looking forward to that =D
Thanks for this video, I hope we can share it far enough so that lot's of people will see it and try this stuff =)
I appreciate that, bro! Yeah, I hope the Zero series gets it true respect after this.
T-that was incredible,even for me,Zero!...
I'll share this with my MM group on fb
Thanks!
I'm a big mage man zero player and have ben since it first came out and this video just opened up a whole new world to this game.
I thought I was good but these runs and techs are way out of my league. I gotta try these right away, thanks for the awesome guide!
As a DMC fan myself, yes Zero 3 will especially be up your alley. Glad this will be helpful!
Thanks for the video! I've been so excited to start playing the collection and am super happy to see a video like this.
Wow thanks man! Definitely glad I found your challenge! Earned my sub!
Honestly, if i didnt need to be asleep soon, id be grabbing my switch and working out some zero 3 combos. This is gonna be alotta fun after school, tho
