    She literally said “I did everything that I could to take care of that dog.” I’ll be honest and say I’m not a pet person but my sister and my friends are. I NEVER heard my sister or my friends refer to their pets as “that dog” or “that cat.” She doesn’t care about the dog.

    • @stevenayala680
      @stevenayala680 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Good observation! You are right. I have two baby boys and I never refer to them by the name “dogs”. In fact, I caught myself at times needing to clarify they are “fur babies” because when I speak about them I normally do it as if they are human and it takes the other person by surprise. It is when either they ask me or I see it in their faces that I get they are confused. Lol.
      I know they are “dogs” but they are no less than any other human in my eyes and in my house they are family members. We celebrate their birthdays and they even have their own room. Lol.

      Funny you say that, I also noticed. If you also watch shows like Steve Wilkos, the child abu$ers also do the same by saying "I did not mole$t *that child* ".
      It's a subconscious attempt at distancing themselves from the person/animal they hurt and what they did to them.

    • @missJolie85

      I think you are stuck on semantics. I have a dog who I love and adore, and I could probably be able to say something like that under distress, because it could also be seen as a statement. I lost my fiance a few years back, and I have probably said a few "I loved that man" crying, I dont remember, but it's not so strange or far fetch. I dont think this woman should own even a goldfish, I dont think the dog should be with her at all, but I also dont think THAT sentence is anything to fuss over.

      @stevenayala680 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@soulgazer11 Wow, you are right. It’s crazy when you put that same thought in a different scenario like the one you mentioned. It makes sense. Subconsciously they distance themselves by referring at them like that.
      Jokes aside (but with a smirk on my face) I’m going to pay attention to how my partner refers to me and see if it’s in an endearing way or by a pronoun. That way I can tell if he wants to distance himself from me or not. 😂.

      Rlly you think that someone who utters the words paid from interviews, with no actual job and no place of her own cares for the dog and knows what it means to care for a pet? You're just as delusional as that girl if your answer is yes. She's keeping the dog out of pettiness and not because she cares for it.

    • @sealink129
      @sealink129 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thing is though, you should still do thorough research before getting a dog, especially if you’ve never had to care for one before. Even when I was the same age as her (I’m 21, and still not living on my own), I knew what all caring for a dog entails. She didn’t have a stable home life or a job and thought that getting a dog was going to make her situation better? And then she has the gall to say she is better fit to care for the dog when her former teacher of all people had to pay the vet bill because she can’t afford it (or rent for that matter) and couldn’t be bothered to go to the vet before it became infected, therefore making the bill worse? I can’t say I feel sorry for her. If she can’t own up to her own mistakes and realize she can’t care for the dog, vet bills included, then she doesn’t deserve hardly any sympathy. That woman did her a favor, and she can’t even act grateful for keeping her dog from dying or getting a leg amputated from an infection.

      Girl admitted to not being able to pay for vet bills but still claims she’s more capable of taking care of it. That’s just selfishness. She knows very well that she’s not doing a good job. I rehomed an animal I loved more than anything when I was only 16 because I recognized that my health problems were affecting my ability to take care of her. And she didn’t ever have any kind of wound or infection, I didn’t wait that long to find a better place.

    We got a German Shepherd two years ago (husband and I both 28 at the time). That breed is a lot of work! Especially when they are young, just nothing but energy. She has had several injuries (because she gets into things or runs into the woods at the dog park and stabs herself on a branch, nothing caused by neglect or anything). We always at least contact her vet (if not bring her in) for injuries and if things look at all bad we have the phone numbers of the 3 closest vet hospitals and call around to ask wait times to get her in as fast as possible.

She said she hears that all the time but still has to ask permission. So she gave her anti-venom and she was all better. My Cricket only has a scar now and I have a tanned snake skin in my garage.

      The problem is the cost of dog ownership. Vet bills can be very expensive. Most teenagers don't have the money or income to cover the cost if the dog gets sick or injured. My dog partly tore off one of her toenails last summer. That was a relatively minor injury. I paid $400 to the emergency vet on a Saturday, then I still had to pay for a follow up at my own vet. If I hadn't dealt with it immediately and it had gotten infected, it could have been in the thousands. My dog also has a heart murmur. Her medication is $180 per month. My first and second dogs both had chronic health problems that required daily medication and frequent vet visits. Most teens aren't in a position to cover these kinds of costs.

    • @FilmerOfBobcats
      @FilmerOfBobcats 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmyLeeAngelLove I have done Australian shepherd rescue for 15 years. We find out the truth by calling the potential adopter's veterinarian and landlord if they rent. We do a home visitation to check that there is a fence for the dog to be safe when playing. We don't take their word for it. We also are careful to make sure the dog's personality is compatible with that of the family. I wouldn't put a hyperactive high drive dog with very elderly people or people who work 10+ hrs per day. Those scenarios would be recipes for the dog to fail (get destructive, escape, etc). OTOH, if someone wants an agility prospect, we introduce them to dogs who have the physique and temperament for it. If the dog dislikes kids we make that clear in the dog's "resume" and don't place him in a home with kids. We also test them with cats and other small animals. After a minimum of one month in foster care, we pretty well know the dog's likes and dislikes and triggers. Our return rate is 2% compared to almost 50% at our local shelter. A good breeder will do this too, especially if the breed is one that is not ideal for a first time dog owner.

    Listen girl, if you really care about that dog your number one priority is to see if you can afford to feed, care and provide shelter for your pet BEFORE YOU GET THE DOG. If you don't have a job, you shouldn't be having a pet. If you can't afford a sudden emergency of $3k minimum in vet bills, you shouldn't have a pet.
    Here is the equation you should memorize the next time you do a financial decision:
    If baseline expenses[B] (rent, food, personal care, transportation, light bill, phone) multiplied by 3 months + what you desire's total monthly and initial expenses[D] multiplied by 3 months + $6k savings is ≥ to total earnings[E] of 3 months - 20% of earnings towards savings (the point of savings is to use in emergencies not to rely on it as income) then what you desire is too expensive for your budget.
    So (Bx3)+(Dx3)+6,000 ≥ E- 20%E ≠ get D. But if (Bx3)+(Dx3)+6,000 < E-20%E = get D.
    You can't alter the equation to adjust for inheritance nor for tax returns. Those should be either going into savings or being invested for retirement later. Ik companies have normalized the whole living beyond your means thing but you don't need a BMW or a Gucci belt, you just need a secured transportation method and a regular belt to hold your pants up when you have a pizza hut salary.
    Nice cars, designer clothes and pure breed dogs are nice to have but aren't a necessity and shouldn't be on your plans of obtaining them until you have an income that can handle these nice things. Not saying you can't have a treat or two when you're unemployed but adjust your treats to your current budget. A walk in the park, pet sitting, offering to walk someone's dog, going to a public beach, or just hanging out at the dog park are all free ways you can experience the health benefits of being around dogs with zero of the expenses with some of these activities actually landing you with money earning opportunities

    You can tell that Judge Judy REALLY didn't like this situation! She let that girl have it! Rightly so! I hope the dog is OK. That breeder was so upset. I could see the veins popping out of her head! She regrets her decision. Poor dog and poor lady.

    Honestly, this is the first time I heard someone who owns a dog and claims to love the dog, yet not call their dog by their name, and instead calling it as "that dog" (3:29 and 3:50). I mean.... Judge Judy, you're the judge here.

    Smiling when called out on her BS about how she pays her "rent" then crying just moments later
    She must have gone to the Amber Heard school of acting.
