Hey guys Jack here. So I got a couple of things to say: First, I flakked Ra’s way too much and he’s a good boss. Second, I noticed I say things like to be honest, honestly, to be frank A LOT in this video. I did that because I recorded super late at night and I record one sentence at a time, so sometimes it’ll crop onto the next page of the script and I have to freestyle off memory. With that said thank you for understanding.
Nice listing. I personally don't consider fights that don't have a health bar or are taken down in one hit to be bosses like Deadshot or Riddler, but good on you if you think they are
Thank you for watching! We counted them mainly due to how different from basic combat they were. We describe bosses in Arkham generally as bosses with health bars or enemies/“bosses” who are unique. Obviously there are some loopholes in that description but yeah I get why a couple these wouldn’t generally be counted. Either way we really appreciate you brother and thank you for watching!
The problem with the Two-Face fight is that he always knows where you are after you hit him. They fixed this for Origins Deadshot by allowing you to run away after each knockdown (and giving him a limited number of thugs). Also it's weird that you're trying to freeze Clayface but you bait him into a bomb and that speeds up the freezing process?
Both are extremely irrational but at least Clayface benefits from enjoyable gameplay. Two-Face is all around broken with a distinct lack of anything resembling fun at all.
I respect your opinion but I have to disagree Mr Freeze has to be the best boss in the game and the series u had to adapt and use a strategy where in Clayface it's the same system don't get me wrong it was a great final boss but I think Freeze is god tier
Great list, Jack! Arkham City is actually the only game in the series I've played, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I personally found most of the bosses on the underwhelming side, with Mr. Freeze being a definite exception. My favorite aspect of Arkham City's gameplay was the stealth mechanics, as I found that more interesting overall than just beating up a group of enemies, and Mr. Freeze fit this formula, perfectly. I also appreciate that he doesn't allow you to use the same takedown twice, forcing you to use everything you've learned to defeat him. I see this battle as an evolution of the fights with Vulcan Raven in MGS1 and The Fury in MGS3, and Mr. Freeze is easily among my top 10 favorite bosses in video game history.
Alex here, glad you liked it! I can see The comparison to The Fury fight now that you mention it, although I prefer Freeze by a mile. They even look kinda similar with the helmet and all. I still haven't played mgs1 because it's pretty inaccessible save for the twin snakes gcn port, which is expensive and (from what I've heard) a pretty bad port in most regards. If they ever rerelease it onto current gen consoles (which I've heard rumors of, and from Bluepoint Studios no less) I'll pick it up
Jack here, I 100% agree with what you said. Freeze is a top notch boss for any game and the predator was a sure fire step up from Asylum’s. Freeze was so unique, intimidating, all those great adjectives and whatnot but at the end of the day he was just super fun. Glad you enjoyed!
@@Cytonox MGS1 and 3 are the only games I've played from that franchise, but I personally prefer Snake Eater over the original by miles. I still like the original a lot (it was extremely influential and innovative for its time), but I think the third game improved on it in every way, especially in terms of the boss roster. Many people tend to rank Metal Gear Solid among their favorite PS1 games, but it's not even among my personal top 10 for that console. My two favorites from the PS1 are Final Fantasy Tactics and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the latter of which has been ported to the PS4. Anyway, I love when games incorporate their key gameplay components into boss battles, and Mr. Freeze's fight is a prime example of that.
In my opinion mr freeze is the best boss but i think ra's deserves number 2, he is repetitive, true. But he has something alot of bosses dont have: speed. Its hard to avoid his attacks. Anyways thats all i have to say.
I can get that placement. The Ra's gameplay was actually mine (Alex's) and I'm a lot worse than Jack at Arkham so you can see I got pretty beat up by the end of the fight and barely won. I don't think he's as fun as some others like Clayface for me but he's got cool visuals at least.
Jack here, I dunked on Ra’s too hard, that being said I think his placement would still be the same now. What went wrong was it’s repetitiveness whereas bosses like Clayface and Freeze have unbelievable creativity.
The first time I did Riddler's Hideout, less than a second after I walked inside my finger slipped and I fired a Batarang. This alarmed Riddler and prompted him to detonate the bombs.
At least I'm not the only one who hates Two-Face's fight. No joke, I think I spent an hour taking out his thugs due to the game not informing me thry respawn. It was on the 8th thug where I realised the room was no where close to to being cleared, which was something that went against the main idea of the Predator Missions, taking out the enemy one by one!
im late to the party but, for the twoface fight do a loud takedown on a guard on the opposite floor twoface is on and all the goons go check it out. this leaves you windows to to takedowns on twoface.

Poison Ivy is now unofficially an honorable mention but honestly at the time I don't think we had the idea of making that happen. Thanks for watching, you check out our other Arkham rankings?

Also the grundy fight did not last too long the length was awesome i loved that it was a long lasting fight, and ra's al ghul actually is pronounced raesh idiot.
Hey, Jack here, and I guess I'll tackle this comment point by point(?) First, Arkham Asylum is my second favorite game in the series as of today, behind Knight, back then I didn't give it enough credit, and in fairness I had just played the game for the third time in three weeks so, yeah. Where it does well in, like atmosphere and map design, it is the best in the series, and where it falls short, like boring and repetitive boss/enemy design and fluky combat (which is to be expected of the first game but NOT the remaster) it is noticeably aggravating in. Now, to your points on Titan Joker and Killer Croc. Sorry for pissing you off, but subjective opinion is subjective opinion and you've got to accept people disagree with you. Titan Joker, as a finale to the game, was EXTREMELY disappointing and unoriginal. The bare minimum for me would be an actual fight where you, you know, fight him, but the fact that it's the same repeated action three times over is lazy and above all disappointing as once again the climax to a fantastic story. Killer Croc, while well done for what it's worth, is also repetitive. It's one of five possible outcomes: He jumps in front of you, behind you, to your left, to your right, or breaks floorboards from under you. That's it. It's fun for a bit but lasts much too long to have any atmospheric intensity and once again the mechanics aren't fleshed out enough to cover the length of the fight. And yeah, I was also terrified my first time, but notice how it was your first time, not any time after most likely because it gets repetitive, once again. So, the Titans WERE good, but wayyy overdone. Never EVER should there be five of the same boss in a game, and to be honest it's even questionable counting Bane as he's literally a Titan with a better paintjob. Titans are cool, but overdone, and once again it's just the same old same old five times in a row, so, yeah fun, but also lazy. And I'd say I'm not unappreciative of good gameplay and design, rather we don't agree in the sense that repeating the same action a collective 30+ times is well done and commendable, but every man to his own. Once again, Mr. Freeze in Origins is subjective, personally, it sucked! The AI was bananas and to this day has glitched out every time I fight him, it's poorly designed and makes up for lazy repetitive icecicle attacks through enemy padding. You CAN take down Freeze through the vents, I just prefer playing it safe. There's no point to doing so and there's so much bullcrap going on it's not worth the risk not to mention the AI doesn't even go by the vents half the time. And yeah, you can say I suck or whatever, I also got every single trophy in the series excluding Riddler Medal achievements for Catwoman, Nightwing, and Robin in City and Origins and Origins' multiplayer trophies. And for the record, I've only died to him like once or twice each playthrough on rare occasion anyways. The Deathstroke fight is easy if you know it well, I agree, but at the same time, say on NG+, it is exceptionally difficult, but yeah I do agree that it's not the greatest challenge ever but it's still far and away the best boss in my opinion, as he's got the most original gameplay, most fun gameplay, best intensity and pacing, so on and so forth, in my opinion. My only issue with Bane is how little there is to do, you just jump over him and Super Stun while blowing off a few enemies here and there, whereas Deathstroke has much deeper mechanical confrontation and movesets. Lastly, Grundy wasn't too long and I hope I didn't say that it's a nice fit, and listen bro, my point was that Raesh sounds stupid asl and Ra's, as he's called in literally any other form of media outside of Arkham, sounds much better and realistic to me personally. Thanks for commenting, watching, and hopefully subscribing!
