  • I thought wireless cab lights were a dream but it turns out they're possible! The Cab Over America lights allow you to mount cab lights on your truck with zero drilling, wires, leaking or damage. Of course, nothing is perfect, so in this video I run through the pros and cons of this wireless cab light system and give a thorough review of features and use. Are they worth it? Find out!

I must be old, I’m seeing a lot of diesels running around with white lights now and honestly just don’t think it looks good. I love the amber look. I have a 4th gen 3500 6.7 dually so they came with them, but I do see a need for these for older trucks that don’t have them. Thanks for these videos man, keep em coming!

      I agree with you brother. I bought these and was super excited. I charged them for 48 hours as recommended, installed them with ease and worked perfectly fine for a week. (Keep in mind I only drive my truck on weekends.) on the second week one started glitching and would not stay on so they sent another replacement. The new replacement also had the issue. Now I have requested another or money back and they won’t budge. It’s worth it until they stop working and you get no support from the company.

    This is the first I have seen of these lights. I really like the idea and no holes, no wiring, solar charging, and easy installation are super big pluses. That being said, I'm not a fan of the screw right dead center in the front of the lens. I think a front hinge clip rear screw arrangement or sliding the lens into channels into grooves in the gasket secured with a rear screw arrangement could have made a more aesthetically pleasing design. Maybe those will come in a second generation design. I'm still interested and will have to look more into these.

Haven't had a bulb go out up there since I installed them in 2002! I also can tell when they're on from inside the cab by their reflection off the ram head hood ornament, LOL! I use my truck for a transport business, and can tell you that the strobe function would be perfect for those of us who haul big, and want that caution strobe light in the front while hauling, like the semi's have. That's my guess why they incorporated that function. Great looking product though!

    Great video, I ended up learning about an awesome accessory that I didn't even know existed, which I too want. Just one thought: will the DOT get on out butts if we don't properly space the lights in accordance to DOT rules ... one each on the outter edges with three grouped more tightly together in the center ... many thanks in advance!

      Yes and no. DOT wont really care unless you are required to have a DOT inspection under CMV rules. And these lights are actually for identification of vehicle type. That's why duallies come factory with them.

    There cool and all but i want super bright lights so i bought the oe kit from the dealership drilled the 15 holes myself did all the work myself and put vleds ultrabright amber leds bulbs in and absolutely love them, super bright and come on with the park lights. But pro cons to all things, ive had no issues in a year plus since install just made sure i laid a good bead of clear silicone every where.

      You can save some money if you drill the 15 holes yourself. But to hire it done will cost even more. But mostly i just dont want holes in my roof. And when i trade they will come with me to my next rig. Good things are not cheap and cheap things are not good.

    Great review, thank you. Had a thought, not sure if you had tried...do you have garage door open buttons in your cab? If so, wouldn't it be possible to sync your fob buttons to those GDO buttons just like you would in any other radio frequency application?
    Doesn't solve your issue with syncing to your head lights, but it would remove the additional fob from the equation.

    Could make a emitter that ties into the ignition. One the ignition turns on then it emits a signal for the cab lights to come on/stay on. Once the ignition is turned off so is the emoter for the cab lights.

  • @licarico
    @licarico 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome vids man, love em. A thought... To get them to turn on with your running lights, you can hard wire up a relay triggered from your factory headlight switch, that activates an RF module that you program using the signal from the remote that came with the lights. They make universal kits like that for programming garage doors and automating other items. I've done this before, doubt it would take that much to get one to talk to those lights. McMaster Carr has a ton of that stuff, would be a good place to start. Good luck!
