Ilolo needs to keep itself clean, and go on a steady pace. It has potential. The country needs several powerhouses.
Cebu is already fast tracking their socialized housing near the bayfront. That seaside trash dump strip near the bridge is gonna look completely different within 5 years. It's the most well rounded Island in the country with a metropolis,. and a strategic location for trade. It's the only one capable of giving Manila a run for its money. You can't beat a city with a mountainous backdrop with an ocean front and a historical mini island connected to it.
Cebu is not a threat to Manila. In fact Cebu is 70 years behind Manila. Manila has 20x more cbd than cebu

In terms of location, Cebu is well rounded. It has a metropolis that is near beaches and some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. Its proximity to other tourist destinations in central visayas makes it primed for leisure. The momentum is already rolling, you just gotta be dumb or ignorant not to see it.

Ang iloilo province higit 2 million population,ang city malapit kalahating milyon..remember ang iloilo regional center nandito ang centro ng edukasyon..regional offices araw araw marami pumupunta sa city mula aklan capiz antique guimaras at bacolod dito..karamihan sa mga nag aaral sa iloilo ay taga province at ibang lugar..hindi ibig sabihin na kung malapit kalahati milyon populasyon ng siudad yon lng gumagala dito..hindi po kasi..ang dami pumupunta sa siudad na taga ibang lugar,.pag naging metro na ang iloilo masasakop na mga first town nito..posible higit 1 milyon populasyon ng metro pagnapasama na..at maging 4-5 times na ang lawak na masasakupan..kung makikita natin yong mga first town meron na mga naglalakihang malls bpo towers at ibang negosyo unti unti na lumalawak developments

Metro iloilo has 1.2 million people and second largest metro area in visayas iloilo has huge metro area and to municipality giving there intention to join also iloilo is powerhause in the making

I see your point, your bay HUC neighbors are mine to comment too, I’m excited and nervous the way Bacolod city is doing too, lately traffic and flooding are a mess, I believe urban planning are a priority, I even clamoring to one Iloilo blogger 4 years ago that Bacolod needs to have an alternative routes that will affect Lacson and Burgos st being a major throughput, and it’s started to grow in our eyes, I want Bacolod having its own lifestyle and character, a modern yet laidback suburban living, green is the norm, the way the direction now is quite bright, we find leadership has changes and as people we need to change too

una..nung sinabi mong , pollution at ginamit mo ang mga squatter images sa cebu.. tatanungin kita.. wala bang squatter sa iloilo? kasi sa pagkakaalam ko , kahit maliit population nyo jan sa ilo ilo, andami nyong squatter jan, hindi pa kayo totally urbanized city pero problema nyo na ang squatter jan.. pano pa kaya kapag naging urbanized city na kayo gaya ng cebu .. ang magiging problema nyo rin jan sa iloilo kaapg maging urbanized city na kayo.. ay ang road systerm nyo.. 4 lanes lang ang meron sa main city nyo.. oaky pa yan ngayon kasi di pa kayo crowded. pero pagdati ng panahon at mangyari yung pinapangarap yung commercialization, dun na kayo magpoproblema sa maliit na kalsada nyo.. unlike sa cebu na 6lanes . pero kahit 6lanes kulang pa nga eh..nagreresulta parin ng congestion at traffic... pano kaya kapag 4lanes lang..pero ang kagandhan sa cebu, halos mga city road, 6 lanes na.. pero sa iloilo, makikita mo lang ang mga 6-lanes sa mga diversion road na... pero sa mismong syudad 4 lanes lang.. nakapunta na ako ng ilo ilo last 2017 para sa dinagyang.. maganda ang ilo ilo pero hindi sya comparable sa cebu.. crowded ang cebu pero makikita mo talaga ang progress ng syudad..makikita mo ang development ng syudad. at kapag sinabi mong cebu city, although hindi kasama sa cebu city ang lapu lapu city ( mactan), pero nagtutulungan ang dalawang syudad na yan para sa progress ng probinsya kasi nasa mactan ang airport, masasabi kong mas develop pa ata kesa sa misong syudad ng iloilo ang mactan sa totoo lang..nasabi ko yun dahil sa manufacturing prowess ng syudad at ang resort prowess ng mactan... kaya may ripple effect na nangyayari..parehas umaangat ang dalawang syudad na yan..nagiging resort capital na ata ng pilipinas ang mactan kung revenue lang ang pag uusapan at hindi numbers ng mga family resort gaya ng nasa calamba laguna na puro maliliit na resorts lang at mga locals lang ang bumibisita.. sa cebu kasi, 1.5- 2million international tourists ang bumibista sa syudad kada taon ... 60% ng turista sa bansa natin, sa cebu lahat pumupunta.. so magiging challenge to ng iloilo kung gusto nyo lang makipag compete sa cebu .. *LITERAL pong mahirap kalaban ang cebu kung progress lang ang pag uusapan..* yung sinasabe mong GOAL ng iloilo para maging livable city, wala namang problema jan.. gusto ko rin mangyari totally yan para sa mga ilonggo... pero ginagawa rin naman ng cebu ngayon ang mga yan.... sa ngayon nga may gagawing monorail sa cebu. may ginagawang bus rapid transit system para ma minimize ang traffic congestion.. yung mga basura .. nililinis naman ng mga cebuano.. may clean up drive na nangyayari sa cebu.. may mga housing project rin sa cebu..ofcourse hindi siya totally nag titake effect agad kasi nga marami ang tao sa cebu.. pero meron din namang progress.. sana wag nyo kalimutan na hindi parin mayaman na syudad ang cebu... hindi kayang isa isahin ng cebu bigyan ng magandang buhay ang mga tao..
may potential ang ILOILO na lumaki ang economiya,, davao , cagayan, bacolod. ito yung mga syudad na nakikitaan ng potential na maging economic powerhouse outside manila next to cebu.. at sana gna mangyari yun kasi ang panalo nyo ay panalo rin naman bng boung pilipinas....

I doubt Iloilo will reach like Manila in the near future or in a decade, when it comes to GDP size iloilo is just around more than 100 Billion same as Cebu which is only at 300Billion though they have more highrise buildings but the total output of cebu city is still low compared to metro manila cities. The perfect city that could reach or even surpass Metro Manila cities is Davao which is now crossing 500 Billion pesos by the end of 2023.
What Im saying here is that we are growing and we have to prepare for that growth. You are not listening! Jusko. Hindi to contest sir. The point here is, whether we out grow other cities or not, the fact is we are growing. Buildings are sprouting anywhere, lumalala ang traffic congestion and what I am telling here is that the government should prepare for that growth. Create wider roads, better infrastructure to cater that economic progress that Iloilo might have. Sa inyo na ang richest cities, sa inyo na ang metro na maraming buildings kuno, sa inyo na yan. What we want here in Iloilo is a better living conditions, a work-life-balance. Aanhin ko yang GDP if iilan lang din ang yumayaman. Aanhin ko yang mayamang city nga pero marami pa ring squatters and namamalimos? You get the point? Thats why Iloilo should and must learn from the mistakes of other cities and that way if maging sucessful man ang city then maybe the whole Philippines can learn from it 🫶
