I was amazed by how securely my succulents were packaged! When I received them, they were all beautiful, healthy, and ready to plant! Succulents make my heart so happy and spending time with them helps to take me out of my pandemic isolation blues! :)
Wow, that was a bunch of cuttings. I usually only get one stem! I love ordering from them. Currently anticipating August's, Chocolate Mint set. That arrangement looks fantastic. Love all those colors! And that pot is perfect for them. That's one of my things, I get such satisfaction from pairing the plants with the perfect pot. Great job!
I'll definitely have to give the club a try but it'll have to wait for employment to happen again. Having several new succulents shipped to you each month would be so much fun!
Even though I'm not a club member, I have ordered nearly ALL of my succulents from Mountain Crest Gardens. They are WONDERFUL! Not one plant has been damaged in any way. The packing is exactly like Cassidy showed in this video. It's quite impressive how much care they take to assure that your plants arrive healthy and happy and excited to grow for you. I LOVE this company. I love Cassidy for all her amazing help and instructions too. It's helped me keep my plants alive and looking gorgeous and that makes me happy and proud as can be! Oh yeah, Bonsai Jack has a great company too and the soil and dressings he sells are outstanding.
I’m new to the succulent garden and I like your style, I’m starting to build up a collection of plants it’s a great hobby for me I live in Cork south of Ireland 🇮🇪 it’s something to enjoy
Just discovered your channel and I’m so excited. I’m a newbie to succulents and am hooked. I would have never thought to put so many in one place I thought they would compete for the water but I’m learning!
Thank you, I learn lots from you You have inspired me to make a succulent container garden tomorrow Stay safe, healthy and happy Love from Melbourne Australia 🙋♀️❤️❤️❤️🥰🦜🦘🦘🦘🦜
I had just made my first Mountain Crest Gardens order Saturday, I had ordered three plants. Crassula Ovata Gollum, Coppertone Sedum and Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi 'Marginata'. I'm so excited to have them arrive later this week. I'm glad to see an example on what an order from Mountain Crest would look like, especially glad one of my orders happened to be one in the Club Box.
This was a super helpful video. I order my plants from them and have had trouble potting them in the Jack gritty soil. Now I know how to do it. Thank you.
Hello.I love wa tching your videos and have learned a lot kn how to take care of my succulents here in Western Australia. Do you have a video on how to propagate?
Glad the videos have helped :) We don't have a propagating video but this post will walk you through how to propagate. www.succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-prop1 We do have a video about propagating in our course successfully propagating succulents. If you are interested you can learn more about the course here: www.succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-propcourse
I just joined the MCG Succulent club earlier today! Then I stumbled across your wonderful video. Can't wait to see what comes in my box when I get it next month! I hope you will do more of these reveals for ideas on what to do with our subscription plants. (I'm new to this)
I’m learning so much from all your videos and am addicted to all your succulents. I don’t do Facebook, but is there any place to go for questions for us newbies. I see, to have so many questions.
Hello Sharon! Hi Cassidy I noticed when you inbox the plants from Mountaincrest that you dispose of your soil do you use the old soil if not why new to this succulent lark and I’m loving it.Teresa xxx
I use it for other plants, but not generally succulents. It's too organic/dense for most succulents to grow in long term unless they're in a very controlled climate (like a greenhouse they come from). Succulents tend to prefer a gritty soil long term: succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-mainsoil
I just joined the club and can’t wait! I also ordered some that will be delivered soon, can’t wait. I have a question. I had white pebbles as a topping, but they were a like bigger than the topping you are using and it was very difficult to water the succulent. What am I doing wrong?
If you are having trouble watering with the top soil on from the top you can always bottom water. The key with any watering is that you are making sure the soil is soaked all the way through and then watering again once it's dry.
Looks beautiful! I had been wondering what the succulents from the club would be like. I want to try it. I loved the pot and how the arrangement turned out! I hope they all grow happy together. I find that my kalanchoes like a little more water than some of the others. How can you deal with that in such close quarters?
Once these are all established with good root systems they can go longer without water. Generally I've found that using the soak and dry method I'm able to keep things pretty happy even if they don't have exactly the same water needs. The biggest issue with this arrangement is actually the Jade cuttings. Since they didn't have roots from the beginning and are naturally inclined to take more water, they've had a hard time staying "full". I will water a little bit more frequently than normal for a week or two to give them a boost, but then wait another two weeks before watering again. I may end up remove those from the arrangement if they don't end up rooting well enough to stay healthy with the watering schedule the other plants need.
@@Succulentsandsunshine Will you water just the area around the jade more frequently or the whole arrangement? Just curious. I just planted a large assortment of succulents in a large planter. The Mother of Thousands is the largest and most established plant of the bunch and it is very droopy. I checked it again this morning and took one leaf off that was obviously not gonna make it. Should I be keeping it more moist for now? Like I said, it's still a little damp. These plants! Every time I transplant or make an arrangement, they get angry with me. I see you and others just "ripping away" at the roots and they do just fine. I'm so careful when I remove the soil from around those roots! Haha! Still, they wilt. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I basically did exactly what you just did. The only difference is that I've had that MOT for about 6 months and it was growing out of the 4 inch nursery can thag it came in. I used the Cactus Jack substrate and some cactus mix mixed in with it for my container. (It seems to work best after much trial and error.) It was in a more "dirt" type soil. Would the gritty mix be causing it trouble??? Ugh!!! All the other smaller plants that I used seem to be fine. I repotted these 3 days ago. Any thoughts on what to do with my 10 inch tall MOT? Oh, and the leaves that are most affected are in the world middle of the plant. The top and bottom leaves have all mostly firmed back up. 😰
When did you water this arrangement for the first time? I water mine really good after I pot the arrangement but I am wondering if I should wait a few days? Btw you are my inspiration and I have learned so much from you!! This is my first year with succulents and because of your tips and lessons (and your books which I have) my plants are doing amazing. I love bonsai jack soil and all of their products as well!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, and that you're learning so much! :) It's best to wait a day or two after planting before watering. Just be sure that the soil is completely dry before watering again, and you should be fine!
Its best to wait a few days after re potting them, just to give the roots time to heal and scab over🙂 This post can walk you through planting if you aren't sure: www.succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-plantsuccs
I've never tried planting succulents/plants in gritty, large pieces of soil like this! How is the care different for plants in this kind of soil? Is it better/worse than normal cactus potting soil? : )
We like a more gritty soil because it helps with drainage. You can find more about it here: www.succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-mainsoil And for how to water using this or other soil look here: www.succulentsandsunshine.com/yt-watering
