At around 1:20 you say "if a world further refuses to resist imperial rule" which means you're saying the imperials launch a full on campaign of destruction of the planet DOESN'T resist their occupation. That sentence doesn't make sense in a paragraph about how the imperials destroy those that appose them, or might rebel.
Over centralisation of power aside from being horribly inefficient also has the end result of one size fits all policies that can be unproductive and even counterproductive in certain situations as it fails to account for variable circumstantiace. The Tarkin Doctrine is a prime example of this one size fits all approach.
As a proud imperial loyalist, I point the finger at rebel terrorist blowing up factories and killing imperial personnel forcing the Empire to up security, and worlds that took part in the CIS or other alien attacks on humanity should not be let off the hook as easily as worlds that where helpful to the galaxy as a whole.
Not only is it inefficient, it’s actually counter productive. I mean, firstly it means that the worlds under the Empire (at least the occupied ones) are not as profitable as they could be. Then there’s the cost of putting down uprisings and the (expensive) security presence. There’s a point at which it becomes more expensive to hold the planet than the wealth it generates. You end up chasing your loses. Then there’s the issue of literally creating a place where rebellion is encouraged. If you can’t afford to eat, fear of reprisals is academic.
True. But efficient markets weren’t the initial goals. Power and subjugation were…unless you’re Tenebrae and you just needed chaos and mayhem to feed The Dark Side, followed by people and planets to steal their life force from.
I think some Imperial worlds actually do very, very well under the Empire, but I've kind of a head-canoned that into it being a combination of hyper capitalism and extractive economics. Based on the models of other authoritarian states, I would see it as plausible that the Empire would functionally loot worlds of wealth that would flow back to key worlds like Sector capitols or the Core, giving these worlds a very high standard of living. Additionally, per places like the Corporate Sector, I would see the Empire giving huge concessions to large corporations or wealthy business owners in exchange for political favors and kickbacks. It would be that weird combination of nationalized industries and utterly deregulated private industries that would allow a small class in favor with the Imperial leadership the ability to generate massive profits quickly, keeping that wealth flowing to the ones who 'made it possible' (the Moffs and Coruscant).
If the Empire could have been a benevolent dictatorship, it probably would have been tolerated to the point where the Rebellion couldn’t have coalesced galaxy wide. Revan’s reign may have stuck after he brought both the Republic and the Empire to their knees, but his only goal was to kill Vitiate, not rule a galaxy for the galaxy’s benefit and its inhabitants prosperity. Too bad. A Revan galaxy would be a powerhouse in the local group or even a large swath of the universe.
I honestly think that The Empire's biggest flaw's were it's blatant discrimination against non-humans and the fact they basically destroyed dozens of planetary economies which could cause the world's inhabitants to grow sympathetic to the Rebellion. Not to mention the fact they had a "quantity over quality" mentallity.
The Galactic Empire was a totalitarian civilization that will destroy any chance a local government to become rise up, or just become dependent on the Galactic Empire. One must remember that the Galactic Empire was by far the most powerful government that the Galaxy has the displeasure to see, and was ruled by far the most ruthless Leader and his cabal, and this lead to massive destruction of worlds that may be seen as “Threats” to Galactic peace. The Empire striped worlds of resources and destroy several civilizations that could have been used properly if one had an actual organized government that could manages these worlds for the maximum output and safety.
How was the less of two evil when both the Republic and the Confederacy fell under the influence of the Sith. Count Dooku for the Confederacy and Darth Sidious for the Republic, the Empire is the Sith Rule without the facade of diplomacy or just rule.
@@inquisitorgarza312 That's what I love about Dark Empire, where Palps fully drops the facade and plans on openly ruling through the Dark Side, saturating the entire galaxy with his presence
Thank you I wanted to know about this for so long. The Empire needed rebellion however I dont know why Palpatine didnt have a rebel cell of his own to give his war machine an enemy that's why I liked to think he new about the Yuzon invasion
What if Obi-wan and Duchess Satine have a child together in secret like how Anakin and Padme had Luke and Leia? How will this affect the war and what will Maul do to the child if he knows of its existence?
I mean yes they did have bad policies but in the end a better galaxy came to be. They were the most secure force in the galaxy which did provide protection, they weren’t as corrupt as the republic, and they did have plans in place to battle the yuuzhan vong (sorry probably butchered that). While some worlds were crushed I give, there were plenty of worlds that were sustained by the empire overall. (Also like usual great vid even if I may not fully agree)
Rhel yes but in this sense palpatine was the law and everyone listened to him, there may have been slight corruption in power but that’s actually pretty realistic and in the end things turned out better. In fact some planets could “live under the empire without ever having heard the scream of a tie fighter.” On the other hand with the republic everyone expected them to be extremely justice based but most of them were bought and paid for and nothing could ever be decided leading to more suffering. As well the CIS started because of them (well palpatine and dooku speeding things up) but planets in the outer rim were treated as outsiders and created a large divide, with the Jedi eventually escalating things by siding with the republic instead of the CIS

Great video.

That sentence doesn't make sense in a paragraph about how the imperials destroy those that appose them, or might rebel.
And then suddenly they’re unaware of why people rebel against them
Over centralisation of power aside from being horribly inefficient also has the end result of one size fits all policies that can be unproductive and even counterproductive in certain situations as it fails to account for variable circumstantiace. They want to deny the people their ability to obtain any better position.
The core worlds were profoundly benefited by the empire, so they were the ones who maintained their loyalty for so long
Join Empire and prosper
Welll, the hyperspace lanes were prolly what benefitted them, in turn benefiting the Empire. But yeah, good point.
God i hate those terrorists

Well at least they were thorough with the job
We can give them that
Extremely underrated channel

Fair enough fair enough. Counter point, the empire was the lesser of two evils to the galaxy

Very intriguing to say the least well done sir!👍

@Mackenzie Bauroth An explanation, please?
Cool thumbnail. I love colors on stormtroopers armors
To me so they can make imperial basses for their troops and tie fighters and more
So that’s what separatists tried warn us about.
Never would have been done had they not kidnapped a republic senator and tried to execute her. Along with a jedi or two.
Dont resist

Wonder if there was a galactic internet these worlds could use to coordinate their anti-Imperial activities.

what is this rebel nonsense
Well done, as good an analysis you can do if you base everything on Rebel propaganda...
