He lent Penny money without hesitation, created a position for Raj to work with him instead of being deported, and drive Penny to the hospital...just to name a few. He had his moments. And it's not like any of them were always good friends to him, either.

Man Raj was such an amazing character in the first 3 seasons, the writers totally screwed up the writing for Raj's character after that, mostly to make room for Amy and bernadette. Just makes me sad to think about what the show could have been. Raj pulled the focus on the nerdy group dynamic very effectively while giving great comic relief. He was also the second most normal of the 4 after Leonard.

He can be mean sometimes but it's mostly out of ignorance.
