Glad yall enjoyed this. This is a convo that will definitely happen again. We had some issues but still pulled off the episode. Rap Latte is a month old and thank y’all for liking and subscribing.
Another reason why I love Dot so much. So many "artists" don't make art, they make a commodity. They aren't making expressions of their experience because they aren't having deep, relatable experiences. This is why when artists get to the top, their writing suffers and they fall off quickly after making it. Kendrick isn't forcing work out every 12 months. When he finally puts something out, its CRAFTED. Its ART. Its coming from his current experience.
Yeah most people in the industry aren’t artists. They’re entertainers. Facts! It takes more balls to make real art than just some commoditized product.
he's also a great writer and conceptualist who thinks about the way his message is packaged; he packs so much depth into his music so it lasts long enough to the point where he can afford to take years off to live life and manifest / create the next thing organically and his fans importantly don't feel like they're being neglected when he disappears
All that at I got is you is incredibly vulnerable by any work of art standard. Let alone from hip-hop from a dude as ruthless and aggressive and ghost face. Shows the range of a person
Damn I've never paid much attention to Fantano but I've also never heard someone mention GFK as a #1 contender, let alone the first mentioned. My personal all time favorite. He just gained a subscriber with that one.
the art of album creation and sequencing is almost non-existent these days. I do appreciate the artists that still keep alive the art of experiencing a full album. I'd rather put on an album I can listen to from beginning to end with minimal skips (if any) than pick out a few bangers I like and play those.
As a new listener to hip hop, I tend to turn to informed reviewers and reactors who are educated and experienced in the industry. I'm also old school. It's sad that sycophants bully so much of the narrative. Fortunately, I can filter through the streamers just by their level of maturity and I appreciate that standard of content from the start.
It bewilders me that Drake has such a loyal fanbase, he has been putting out such frivolous, substance-less music for so long, I can't understand how anyone would form such a strong connection to him as an artist...like of all people, THIS is your guy? why
Well, ppl like substance-less music, and that should be okay. I like future, he's always been in my big 3 by replacing drake (dot, Cole, future). However, he probably has less substance than drake. Some ppl have real life problems and don't care to hear it in music. Music is an escape from reality. Different strokes for different folks. Drake has made some dope projects at the beginning of his career, not so much in the last several years tho.
@ks_wallace2324 maybe you should re-read my comment, I'm not questioning why someone would like his music, rather the ride or die attitude of a lot of his fans for someone who I can't fathom forming a strong emotional bond to their art (unlike Kanye or even Taylor Swift for example)
he's an aspirational goal for shallow people, the same ones who like to buy designer clothes for the logo (rather than quality) in an effort to gain respect from peers
Oh naaaaah this needs to be a bi-weekly thing. I'm such a fan of fantano, but when I hear him engage with other creators about music especially hip-hop I get down right giddy.
I really enjoy your one-on-one conversations, but this is another great guest. I know the show is new and you may still be working out formats. I’d suggest monthly guests. But only if they’re as good as FD and Fantano. Not just fillers for the sake of having someone on.
YES, Off the Wall is sbove Thriller. It is the beginning of the beginning of Michael Jackson. Just like Prince’s first 5 album is the beginning of what he becomes.
I understand what Toure was saying about people spending there money back in the day to buy a cd. To this day I will never listen to or watch anything Snoop Dog after I bought the DogFather album it was straight garbage I was so mad I wasted my money on it. The only thing I remember from that album is him saying beats don't make him yes the hell they do damn. I have a disdain for him now. You bringing it up triggered my trauma lol
Is that why fantano isn’t an Aesop rock guy? Cus his songs aren’t always sonically pleasing? I get it I guess. Don’t agree but I see the argument being valid
There is too much "music" being produced, and I refuse to participate because someone said that 3 weeks means that you made a "breakthrough" on the "charts!" Thank God for Kendrick, the tortoise. 6 min Euphoria was much more pleasurable than the 6 min of Family Matters.
Liiittle off-topic, but just curious: next time consider asking him about why he seems to be so selectively outraged at Kanye's Columbine bars, so much so that he had multiple spiels about just that, meanwhile for the past 10 or 15 years when other artists like Brockhampton did the exact same thing it was all cricket sounds and not even worth a single mention. I think that'd be worth exploring :)
Attention all: No matter that he is now denying it, he has been diagnosed with a SMI (severe mental illness); 80% of his "controversial" statements when he was CLEARLY having a manic episode and the media was profiting from his mental illness. Not for nothing, this disorder has a significant COGNITIVE decline over time that is reflected his artistry. Unfortunately, i think he is done unless he makes different choices regarding his health. You see glimmers of his gift in like that remix because his production on the track was awesome, but THOSE lyrics were meh 😐
I enjoy Fantano's content to an extent and did enjoy this video. But man. He really talked over you guys and didn't allow you to get a word in at multiple points throughout this interview. Felt very controlling and disrespectful at times.
It probably should be noted that he was the guest, so it's comprehensible he'd speak more. Not only that, in multiple times you can hear Fantano's voice through one of the guys' mics, so they might be having some technical difficulties as in having to turn on the mic everytime. If you ever had zoom classes, you probably know how tiring that gets. I do like Fantano's vibe more than his music knowledge, necessarily, so I get that I'd be biased.
I'm still going through it, so I apologize for the double post, but if you go to 27:40 ish, you can see how long Fantano takes to react to the Ye comment. I honestly think that's just delay???
@@RapLatte That's understandable. It did seem like there were a bit of technical issues. I'm sorry if I misinterpreted it as something more. I really appreciate y'all and everything you do. Your channel and videos have been a great addition to my life. Keep up the great work and happy holidays!
You don’t get that far as drake did by the industry being against you 😂 people be delusional he’s a industry man not anti industry he’s just upset he lost a beef

Yes, this is why he's able to reinvent his sound so seamlessly.
he's also a great writer and conceptualist who thinks about the way his message is packaged; he packs so much depth into his music so it lasts long enough to the point where he can afford to take years off to live life and manifest / create the next thing organically and his fans importantly don't feel like they're being neglected when he disappears
Music lovers will definitely enjoy this conversation. Its a good day to be alive
Can we talk about Mr. Fantano's absolutely magnificent fit!?
Arizona tea can😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm sorry, I had to😅
He's carrying that "wes anderson main character" fit
I thought that too as soon as I show the drip
The man the myth the melon 🍉
Kdot has to be one or two at this point imo too many classic albums and songs.
Why this comment two days old
@ I commented before the video was uploaded it was just the premiere with clip art haha
bro somehow predicted the topic
Ghostface is hyper masculine yet often hyper vulnerable. As wild as his vocabulary is he is very relatable
All that at I got is you is incredibly vulnerable by any work of art standard. Let alone from hip-hop from a dude as ruthless and aggressive and ghost face. Shows the range of a person
He has schizophrenia, which makes his career even more impressive.
I love Fantano’s cardigan 😂
Kendrick’s ‘24 run united many of the best hiphop/music journalists and platforms. Crazy to see the collaborations that’ve been happening.
Thank you for bringing up artists unionizing, guys
Workers of the World Unite! ✊
If y'all got Fantano on here, y'all gotta get Dead End Hip Hop on here too!
Finally a podcast for the rap nerds. Lets go!!
Amen 🙏🏽
You gotta be kidding, this is the golden age of hip hop nerd commentary
Digging Melon's outfit and colour palette extra hard today.
The watermelon palette
This channel is fire. How is there not more subs
Just got to TH-cam m 3-4 weeks ago thanks for subbing
Only a matter of time
First unc FD and now the Melon, good lineup, it even got me checking out other videos without guests
the ghostface album with badbadnotgood is SO good. definitely worth checking out if y’all haven’t :)
Toure looks taken aback by Fantano's knowledge of the culture.
Damn I've never paid much attention to Fantano but I've also never heard someone mention GFK as a #1 contender, let alone the first mentioned. My personal all time favorite. He just gained a subscriber with that one.

1988 Living Color Cult of Personality.
That song lays out the "why" for most bs in society.
he's an aspirational goal for shallow people, the same ones who like to buy designer clothes for the logo (rather than quality) in an effort to gain respect from peers
I had to look up Fantano’s age when he said Ghostface. He’s younger than I thought, his older brother must have listened to Ghost when he was a kid.
Next guest gotta be the homie Justin Hunt, The Company Man #ItsAllHappening
Ghostface and E40 are in my top 3
We eating today yall🎉
Do I even have to say it... another banger episode 🔥Love this show. @fantano was in his element too 🍉
Oh naaaaah this needs to be a bi-weekly thing. I'm such a fan of fantano, but when I hear him engage with other creators about music especially hip-hop I get down right giddy.
Fantano fit is incredible.
Loved this
Be specific, Fantano
We want the exact top 10
Give us yours
I like Ghostface in the No. 1 conversation. My top guy has always been Redman.
Hell yeah!!!!
Pink Floyd comparison was spot on
Off The Wall Lovers were u at !
KRS One and Roc Marciano , my top 2
The Chanel is so much fun

1:40 kendrick is like 2pac (rap) meets pink floyd (conceptual artistry) meets james baldwin (literary genius).
YES, Off the Wall is sbove Thriller. It is the beginning of the beginning of Michael Jackson. Just like Prince’s first 5 album is the beginning of what he becomes.
VERY IMPORTANT TIMESTAMP: 22:45 💯💯💯💯
Kendrick has the best discography of any contemporary hip hop artist. It’s not even close.
This was Kanye but since 2018 it’s mostly been misses.
23:55 The Bridge is over, the bridge is over
Great interview, there are a lot of great opinionated voices out there like According2adri

Melon went well flora
Melon stepped out with some SERIOUS DRIP.
Andre was in Japan?
The disrespect for Blue Lips is real. I do mess with both Chromakopia and GNX though. But man ...
Schoolboy is boring.
Is that why fantano isn’t an Aesop rock guy? Cus his songs aren’t always sonically pleasing? I get it I guess. Don’t agree but I see the argument being valid
I love Ghostface
6:05 a C change, or a B# change? 🙃
You think you trying to B sharp 🤔
Help me: Is there a difference between rap and poetry?
Rap stands for Rhythm And Poetry from what I know!
Do the comments think that when someone says MC, it’s different from “rap artist” or “rapper”
2:30

Over the yrs, ive come to see Off The Wall>>>>>Thriller
"..."The Wall" level."

I have Kendrick at 1 all time but 03-04 50 cent has the best year ever. Maybe lil Wayne 08-09
I’d say fantano gets pretty scared if you call one of his TH-cam channels racist
Vultures 2 is much better than V1. I listen to V2 on the treadmill and it powers me thru.
This man looks like a white King Green lol
😂😂😂
Except when the Fader does a hit piece
Bro ghostface isnt even the best rapper in wu. REBEL INS
18:52 also, i dont want to mess up my algorithm with a bunch of lame stuff

MF Doom? Who is that, a rapper?
Yes, he is one of if not the most popular underground rapper. He's known for wearing the metal mask.

Aoty? I thought Brat was a 10?
Man ima be negative but I kind of think this fantano guy sucks.

Okay
