One of many great singles from that golden age of '03 to 06ish. I listen to today's rap and I just don't - or can't - get it. I know that Never Scared ain't exactly high brow, but it was at least unique (in the sense that crunk itself was fairly unique and regional at the time). Rap has gotten so watered down with sad little suburbanites that all the edge and machismo is lost. I can dig some sad, sullen, emotional music at the right times too, but when I want rap, I want those beats, that fire, that energy...not some whiny half-sung shit where I can't tell if dude is crying is just stoned. RIP hip-hop's Bling Era.
Busta's raps go by a lot of people's heads because of speed, but it was what he said within that short amount of time in each bar that made the verse impressive.
