Dubai is often seen as a symbol of luxury and modernity, but this documentary really sheds light on the hidden side of the city. It's eye-opening to see the realities of labor conditions, inequality, and the pressures behind the glamorous facade. A must-watch for anyone wanting to understand the full picture of Dubai.

I have been there twice in 2000 as an employee on a business mission. It has become much worse since then as my personal experience and contacts can relate. The brutality and callousness of most of the Arab and other investors, as that of their dupes too, is spreading like a malignant ulcer in society at large globally. But God's day of reckoning is quickly approaching and their oppression will have a sudden end.

This documentary sheds light on the hidden truths behind Dubai's glittering facade. While the city boasts luxury and modernity, the dark side reveals shocking realities-homeless migrant workers struggling to survive, exploited labor, and a growing gap between the rich and the poor. Everything you mentioned is accurate. Sometimes, our biggest challenge here is dealing with abusive government officials. Often, news here is blocked to protect the reputation of the United Arab Emirates. Some male Emiratis, especially the spoiled ones, can be rude and abusive, and their daughters can sometimes act the same, although not all of them. They don’t experience the hardships in life that many Asians endure in their own countries.

If you boss is Indian or South Asian don't expect anything. The same happening in Canada . Employees working 60 hours and getting paid 40 hours. By not hiring locals they sponcer from their own counties and charge them $30000 to $60000 in fees. Make them work 7 days with less pay. No benefits, They don't want to hire locals because the locals know the rules and regulations and can not be tricked. By bringing in people form other countries, employer's are not only using them they are also making momey like the old days when the people used to find agents and get fake passport. Whe it comes to pay, you are not getting any better in canada aswell. That's why 20 people have to share one house. On the pay stabs shown full amount but getting less in hands. The government doesn't care. There is so much abuse going on in Canada and some south Asian accept cash jobs for less, and work 7 days even 24 hours. That's a problem for locals and cannot get jobs.

Absolutely correct, I lived in dubai for 5 years. living conditions in Sonapur is very bad with overcrowding and limited amenities. It’s not a tourist place so people don’t know about it cause its located far from the city where all the workers stay. However, recent years have seen efforts to improve the quality of life in some areas, with new regulations and initiatives aimed at providing better living standards and facilities for the workers.

This is Slavery Imperialism (Imperialism of Slavery) in Dubai. In the 21st century this should've been illegal and should not have existed at all. The world should condemned the leaders who allowed this to exist. This is a disgraceful for the leaders; the so called leaders aren't human beings to allow this.

This is a pathetic story of exploitation of the weak and vulnerable. The people who run Dubai, the rulers and city officials are human pieces of sh*t. These workers who built the most beautiful cities ever are treated less than human. The mental torment of these men have to be overwhelming. I see nothing but men in this Sonapur town. I dont want to even imagine if a woman finds her self wondering around over there. The people who live in Dubai needs to be ashamed of themselves as they live in luxury while the people who make that happen live in despair. I have no respect for that city.

@ 😂😂😂 I can tell your not from the USA. abuse happens everywhere however it is true that in a lot of African , Asian and middle eastern countries there are little human right regulations such as labor laws to protect workers and wage regulations. These issues happen alot on servile jobs rather thanks on high paying professional jobs. It is a known fact that undocumented or non citizens in America working lower paying jobs are not protected by labor laws like the average citizen. It is unfair and it is wrong .

I'm a local lady from UAE and watching this made me sad for the people livingthis way. I knew simple Asian workers in my country earn low salaries and lived in simple compounds, but l didn't know it's that bad. By the way l am not rich l am middle-class person. Who works and earn good money. So my life is not as it shown about people of Dubai in media. In every country all over the world there are very rich people, middle-class people and poor people. Dubai is the same, we can't find any country in world where all people are living luxurious and pleasant lifestyle unfortunately. I knew that things have changed over time to make all workers in UAE life conditions better. However we noticed that some citizens from certain countries are not fallowed up by their country's government. What l mean is countries demand certain conditions for their citizens in UAE. UAE has to fallow because they need workers. But some governments do not care of their citizens conditions and think that their conditions in Dubai is at least better than in their homeland. I pray to all people living in bad condition in Dubai or elsewhere

Yes, I had view another documentary about the workers on how they live opposed to the riches portrait in Dubai & also how they confiscated their passports, so sad & disturbing to know how some people are so rich & they will not help others, it's a sad world to know this, wish we can all have the same status, as not rich or not poor for everyone to live comfortably with all their needs in one world 😢

Slight correction to the video information and some comments below:
    1. The government has implemented comprehensive measures to educate and inform new employees about their rights, including how and where to report issues.
    2. All new employees are required to attend a mandatory government training session when receiving their employment visa. This session covers employee rights, reporting abuse, and relevant contact points.
    3. Cases of exploitation often involve private individuals, founders of the companies and/or someone holding senior posts, abusing their position, but not government officials.
    4. While corruption exists in some cases, such officials are typically concealed and inaccessible to employees. However, the government has mechanisms to address such issues, and reports of misconduct are taken seriously and acted upon.
    5. UAE government does everything possible to protect the rights of every individual, but there is no spoon feeding.
Hire the right people, don’t be afraid to report, speak up, help others by sharing the information!

Thanks for sharing great video about Dubai, and I been there and that is truth as I seen it with naked eyes and life is very difficult for thousands of unskilled workers who are treated like 2nd class citizens, no respect and dignity ,the Gulf arabs are rude and proud and look low upon people ftom Asian and African countries, I will never visit this unjust country again ,good for holiday but to live there no thanks, not everything that glitter is gold .

And what about the inhuman treatment they suffer in their own countries? Is that better or worse than in the UAE? Where is the respect and dignity in living in abject poverty. In my experience (having lived there) the Arabs in Dubai are kind, courteous and hospitable. Abu Dhabi, less so and Kuwaiti and Saudi's are not very nice (though it is wrong to generalise). Overall the gulf states have massively improved the lives of an untold number of people from the surrounding countries and many in the Far East.

@andyhx I'm sure you got favored because of your passport and color of your skin ,there class system so good for you but not for thousands of workers that are treated badly ,passport confiscated, not paid ,not every one is lucky like you,.

    • @andyhx
      @andyhx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@ShahPadayachee I totally appreciate that. The world is unfair and I was lucky to be born in my country when I was etc.
However, you can chase your tail forever with this. Who makes the clothes you wear? A child in Bangladesh or Vietnam? Who serves your meal in a restaurant? Who takes your trash away? We're all exploiting someone most of the time, where is the line? Whilst many of these poor souls in Dubai live a fairly miserable existence, what they have is opportunity. They may get a better job, they may get lucky in other ways which they would not if they were sat in a hut in the countryside of their home country where there is absolutely no opportunity to improve.
The capitalist system is very flawed but to date no-one has come up with a better one.

From what I have read, these workers passports are taken as security, Both husband and wife not only ill treat their house help but also harrass them and perpetrate physical assault and violence and engage in sexual predatory behaviours. If the worker escapes and finds another employer, hoping they will be treated better, they find that the new employer is as bad if not worse than their previous employer.
