It is sad 😢. I work as a security guard in Dubai for 14 hrs daily with a salary of 1500 dirhams (300 dollars) with no transportation and food. All the company offers is accommodation and when you complain, they have just one thing to tell you. Cancel and go. 😢😢😢😢
I have been there twice in 2000 as an employee on a business mission. It has become much worse since then as my personal experience and contacts can relate. The brutality and callousness of most of the Arab and other investors, as that of their dupes too, is spreading like a malignant ulcer in society at large globally. But God's day of reckoning is quickly approaching and their oppression will have a sudden end.
This documentary sheds light on the hidden truths behind Dubai's glittering facade. While the city boasts luxury and modernity, the dark side reveals shocking realities-homeless migrant workers struggling to survive, exploited labor, and a growing gap between the rich and the poor. It’s a side of Dubai that needs to be seen and understood.
Labourers are badly exploited in Dubai it needs detailed program by visiting labour camps outskirt of Dubai, see what kind of food is served to them, how dirty place to sleep, it really needs a separate video.
An eye-opening documentary that reveals a side of Dubai often hidden behind its glamorous facade. It’s fascinating to see the untold stories and harsh realities behind the city’s rapid rise. Truly thought-provoking and worth watching
I am so grateful for documentaries like these that really expose what is happening in countries all over the world. Many times I have been saved from making the bad choice of migrating to "developed country". When I see these conditions there is no way I am going to migrate to a country like this.
That’s why the people living in slum in bangladesh have better life than the workers of dubai. The arab don’t consider them as human. They think they are worse than a slave
That's not true. When the gulf countries stop issuing labor and employment visas, the people and government of these 3rd world countries are continuously crying and desperate. Sadly their own country governments are busy in corruption and abandon their own people, how do you expect other countries to value them and not exploit for profit.

Wow. I just visited UAE 1 week ago. The tour guide did not mention anything about this place. I knew in my mind that there had to be underpaid, underserved people in Dubai. Usually they are the ones that build the country up. It's sad , but it goes on all around the world. Be blessed.

I have lived in the United Arab Emirates for many years. I have experienced every possible scenario a man may encounter here. It is a very difficult country. Many people are unaware of this aspect of the United Arab Emirates. I have no friends here, and I live alone. As a result, I understand the sensation quite well. I'm still fighting for my life, and I hope to eventually get what I need. I hope the same for everyone. ❤❤❤❤ May God bless everyone,
It's nonsense. UAE is a mecca for opportunities. Anyone can gain wealth and prosperity there. Ibn Batutta is a great example. Poor people with no opportunities move there to work and feed their families back home because where they are from are no opportunities to make a living. You people are highly uninformed. Maybe get out a bit and travel the world and learn something.
@yapandasoftware Why don't you show all the people who are kept under this system of modern slavery how to become free, get their passports back, prove the Human Rights organizations wrong and show them how they can be as successful as you are..... show them how their Human Rights are protected in your land...
We know very well that Dubai, and the UAE in general, is a hell on earth. We know that all foreign workers living in Arab countries are subjected to human suffering, are denied their rights, and work long hours for little pay. We know what kind of dirty labor housing their employers provide to their workers. Dubai and all Arab countries are hell on earth.
Anybody going to Dubai to slave for a living had better stay at home. Arab slave merchants reliving the golden age of enslaving Africans. The documentary you made is truly heartbreaking because everything in it is true. I’ve been working in the UAE, Abu Dhabi, for over 20 years, about an hour and 30 minutes from Dubai. Everything you mentioned is accurate. Sometimes, our biggest challenge here is dealing with abusive government officials. Often, news here is blocked to protect the reputation of the United Arab Emirates. Some male Emiratis, especially the spoiled ones, can be rude and abusive, and their daughters can sometimes act the same, although not all of them. They don’t experience the hardships in life that many Asians endure in their own countries.
This is so tragic n an I dictment of not only the authorities, but the rich folk who live or visit n never give a thought to the struggling workers. Surely with this much wealth workers could be properly housed and 😊given subsidized food??!
You didn't have to stay 20 years; you could have returned to your country with dignity instead of waiting and complaining. We call this bite the hand feeding you
If you boss is Indian or South Asian don't expect anything. The same happening in Canada . Employees working 60 hours and getting paid 40 hours. By not hiring locals they sponcer from their own counties and charge them $30000 to $60000 in fees. Make them work 7 days with less pay. No benefits, They don't want to hire locals because the locals know the rules and regulations and can not be tricked. By bringing in people form other countries, employer's are not only using them they are also making momey like the old days when the people used to find agents and get fake passport. Whe it comes to pay, you are not getting any better in canada aswell. That's why 20 people have to share one house. On the pay stabs shown full amount but getting less in hands. The government doesn't care. There is so much abuse going on in Canada and some south Asian accept cash jobs for less, and work 7 days even 24 hours. That's a problem for locals and cannot get jobs.
Students on F1 visa in the US are illegally working in restaurants (waiters and dishwashers), grocery stores (check out clerks_, cleaning hotel rooms, petrol stations....on minimum wage in cash, owners are usually Indians....it is exploitation.
Absolutely correct, I lived in dubai for 5 years. living conditions in Sonapur is very bad with overcrowding and limited amenities. It’s not a tourist place so people don’t know about it cause its located far from the city where all the workers stay. However, recent years have seen efforts to improve the quality of life in some areas, with new regulations and initiatives aimed at providing better living standards and facilities for the workers.
It's worse in Dubai, and we shouldn't down play it by statements like this. Stories like this, need to be amplified for things to get better; it's unacceptable.
This is one of the amazing documentaries I have ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Imagine working 12 hours in a day or night and just one day of in the week 😢
I worked in Dubai for 10 years. Life is life. You gotta accept the realities. Fact is you save money earned there. Anyone who wants to leave can do so.
Thank you Dubai and the ruling family for opening the doors to everyone to come and work and live. We come from severely broken societies and this is the best deal so far. 👏👏👏

In the Arab world, those who baked the cakes don’t even get to taste it, talk less eating the cake. That’s the reality of a country that has no regard for its workers.
They abuse Filipino people like myself in that city!.!. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t want to visit that place city!.!. The concept of Human Rights doesn’t exist in that city!.!.
This is Slavery Imperialism (Imperialism of Slavery) in Dubai. In the 21st century this should've been illegal and should not have existed at all. The world should condemned the leaders who allowed this to exist. This is a disgraceful for the leaders; the so called leaders aren't human beings to allow this. The Bello Mundo - EN, I give you credit for showing this documentary to the world to see it. Having so much wealth and this to happen in Dubai is disappointing and disgusting. This video should be distributed around the whole world and see the Evil System /Haram in Dubai. I give you great credit documenting this. I will dig if I can see more of this kind news in Dubai and the country at large.
Somebody needs to tell these Human Rights groups. This has been going on for multiple decades. In fact, Dubai and UAE with their peaceful and kind religion have been built on slave labour. Have any of this group done anything - Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Civil Rights Defenders, Human Rights Without Frontiers International, Anti Slavery International, Physicians for Human Rights, Global Rights, UN Watch, European Centre For Minority Issues, International Federation For Human Rights, Human Rights Foundation, Front Line Defenders, Human Rights House Foundation, Freedom House???

This is a pathetic story of exploitation of the weak and vulnerable. The people who run Dubai, the rulers and city officials are human pieces of sh*t. These workers who built the most beautiful cities ever are treated less than human. The mental torment of these men have to be overwhelming. I see nothing but men in this Sonapur town. I dont want to even imagine if a woman finds her self wondering around over there. The people who live in Dubai needs to be ashamed of themselves as they live in luxury while the people who make that happen live in despair. I have no respect for that city.
If you have no money and higher education do not come here because life will be hard like anywhere in the world. I’m an architect from America and live in Dubai for over 7 years and I love it. I live a good life better life then I wood in New York where I used to be. New York is 3 times more gander and expensive then Dubai BUT you have to come with money and be able to run a business or high get a high paying job .
@ 😂😂😂 I can tell your not from the USA. abuse happens everywhere however it is true that in a lot of African , Asian and middle eastern countries there are little human right regulations such as labor laws to protect workers and wage regulations. These issues happen alot on servile jobs rather thanks on high paying professional jobs. It is a known fact that undocumented or non citizens in America working lower paying jobs are not protected by labor laws like the average citizen. It is unfair and it is wrong .

Thank you for making this video and exposing the reality of so many migrant workers who have become basically slaves. This doesn't speak highly of the local government or officials. Dubai is a fake utopian disgrace in my eyes, I cannot take any pleasure in it, knowing who built it and who continues to be entrapped.
Akin to slavery! Yes, we blacks in America experienced this in the beginning. The luxury of the country built on the backs of the poor and exploited. Thanks for highlighting this issue. This is the true world 🌎 🌍 we live and die in. And then there is a middle class, those few that fall in the middle and get a break.
Lol, if they wanted to, they would have done it, the whole point of this video the gov don't care, they want to hide these basic slaves and continue to get more and more rich off their backs.
The government of Dubai should raise the salary ceiling for the workers below, if it fears Allah, the government should build its own buildings in each estate and rent them out at a low rent.
Arabs used religion as a veil to cover their evil acts. You will think they have fear of God, they don’t. Imagine the Saudi Arabia crown prince, Muhammad bin Salman and his cohorts who brutally slaughtered Kassoggi in Turkey and dismembered his body. Yet, they claimed to be Muslims praying five times a day. They are the worst of creation.
My son got depressed .He became vulnerable. He ended in Jail 3 months before he completed the contract. He lost all his dreams. He was deported but he is not himself. He is very bitter.Heis u undergoing counselling.
One hundred percent true of everything u said, am not surprised you mension Sonapur, I suffer for there, and one the worst town is Ajman, and now living in Sharjar but with determination, you can get out of the bad side and enjoy the good side, I know maby immigrants who will choose dubai over America, all depends on you as a person, cuz what's happening in dubai in this video, happens at everywhere in the world
That's the whole thing about religion, isn't it? It's such a scam. Qatar held the world cup but had to build all the stadia etc first. Lots of workers were brought in from the Indian subcontinent (ie muslims / hindus) and were treated like shit. *Capitalism created religion to further oppress the poor and the desperate.* Join the dots.
Even Africans are working in Dubai ! But you did not mention them when you were telling about foreigners living in Dubai ! What was you hidden porpose ?
He did not explicitly mention South Americans either. But he said "people from all over the world". Africans wouldn't bother with Dubai if like Pakistani migrant workers they were only earning $200 USD per month.
This documentary explains what I witnessed 2 weeks ago at terminal 1 at the Dubai International Airport, I have never seen soo many people in such a tiny space, who look so distressed and poverty stricken. I thought they were refugees of some sort, it just didn't match the "Dubai image" known and portrayed to the world.
The complexities of the Arab world baffles the normal mind. I have worked in a lot of countries around the world. Abuse of the working class happens all over the world. In Dubai they keep your passport. In the US you can't leave the country if you have overstay issues. This traps vulnerable workers and gives power to employers.
I know someone who overstayed and then decided to go back home after 2 years. They were arrested at the airport and had to go to immigration court and they got banned for 10 years from entering the US again.
I'm a local lady from UAE and watching this made me sad for the people livingthis way. I knew simple Asian workers in my country earn low salaries and lived in simple compounds, but l didn't know it's that bad. By the way l am not rich l am middle-class person. Who works and earn good money. So my life is not as it shown about people of Dubai in media. In every country all over the world there are very rich people, middle-class people and poor people. Dubai is the same, we can't find any country in world where all people are living luxurious and pleasant lifestyle unfortunately. I knew that things have changed over time to make all workers in UAE life conditions better. However we noticed that some citizens from certain countries are not fallowed up by their country's government. What l mean is countries demand certain conditions for their citizens in UAE. UAE has to fallow because they need workers. But some governments do not care of their citizens conditions and think that their conditions in Dubai is at least better than in their homeland. I pray to all people living in bad condition in Dubai or elsewhere
I stayed 3 nights in a hotel in Dubai, the 3rd floor of the hotel was closed as a private party was in full swing, the "revellers" we're mainly men in their 40s to 60s and women who we're , let's just say, quite a bit younger, I left after 3 days and the party was still going on as I was checking out.
Look into history and you will find that Arabs were in the slave trade for many centuries, where was Human Rights then? If that wasn't bad enough, a muslim could not be enslaved, but everyone els was fair game.
In America, immigrants are not struggling. America have a lot opportunity for immigrants , you will only struggle in America if you are lazy . America is the best country when it comes to immigrants
Yes, I had view another documentary about the workers on how they live opposed to the riches portrait in Dubai & also how they confiscated their passports, so sad & disturbing to know how some people are so rich & they will not help others, it's a sad world to know this, wish we can all have the same status, as not rich or not poor for everyone to live comfortably with all their needs in one world 😢
Slight correction to the video information and some comments below: 1. The government has implemented comprehensive measures to educate and inform new employees about their rights, including how and where to report issues. 2. All new employees are required to attend a mandatory government training session when receiving their employment visa. This session covers employee rights, reporting abuse, and relevant contact points. 3. Cases of exploitation often involve private individuals, founders of the companies and/or someone holding senior posts, abusing their position, but not government officials. 4. While corruption exists in some cases, such officials are typically concealed and inaccessible to employees. However, the government has mechanisms to address such issues, and reports of misconduct are taken seriously and acted upon. 5. UAE government does everything possible to protect the rights of every individual, but there is no spoon feeding. Hire the right people, don’t be afraid to report, speak up, help others by sharing the information!
Thanks for sharing great video about Dubai, and I been there and that is truth as I seen it with naked eyes and life is very difficult for thousands of unskilled workers who are treated like 2nd class citizens, no respect and dignity ,the Gulf arabs are rude and proud and look low upon people ftom Asian and African countries, I will never visit this unjust country again ,good for holiday but to live there no thanks, not everything that glitter is gold .
And what about the inhuman treatment they suffer in their own countries? Is that better or worse than in the UAE? Where is the respect and dignity in living in abject poverty. In my experience (having lived there) the Arabs in Dubai are kind, courteous and hospitable. Abu Dhabi, less so and Kuwaiti and Saudi's are not very nice (though it is wrong to generalise). Overall the gulf states have massively improved the lives of an untold number of people from the surrounding countries and many in the Far East.
@andyhx I'm sure you got favored because of your passport and color of your skin ,there class system so good for you but not for thousands of workers that are treated badly ,passport confiscated, not paid ,not every one is lucky like you,.
@ShahPadayachee I totally appreciate that. The world is unfair and I was lucky to be born in my country when I was etc. However, you can chase your tail forever with this. Who makes the clothes you wear? A child in Bangladesh or Vietnam? Who serves your meal in a restaurant? Who takes your trash away? We're all exploiting someone most of the time, where is the line? Whilst many of these poor souls in Dubai live a fairly miserable existence, what they have is opportunity. They may get a better job, they may get lucky in other ways which they would not if they were sat in a hut in the countryside of their home country where there is absolutely no opportunity to improve. The capitalist system is very flawed but to date no-one has come up with a better one.
From what I have read, these workers passports are taken as security, Both husband and wife not only ill treat their house help but also harrass them and perpetrate physical assault and violence and engage in sexual predatory behaviours. If the worker escapes and finds another employer, hoping they will be treated better, they find that the new employer is as bad if not worse than their previous employer.
What you have reported in your documentary really unfair, you have only exposed the negative side of Dubai!!?? Why didn’t you make a comparison between Dubai and other first world countries with their high homeless population, like USA and Europe. Thank you for educating us about some of the Human Rights violations of UAE and existence of Slavery in Middle East.
Human Rights only in words thats it. Human rights only for RICH PEOPLE not for us.
It’s modern slavery
It's nonsense. UAE is a mecca for opportunities. Anyone can gain wealth and prosperity there. Ibn Batutta is a great example. Poor people with no opportunities move there to work and feed their families back home because where they are from are no opportunities to make a living. You people are highly uninformed.

Wow.unreal..Sad but truth..

Hope modern day slavery can be stopped. ❤

Great report! Thanks!

Unfortunately all wealthy countries have done this they built their greatness by the sweat and blood of poor people that is the reality of this world.
No way!
Sad but most of the people who come there to work come from worst situation in their own country
The complexities of the Arab world baffles the normal mind. I have worked in a lot of countries around the world. Abuse of the working class happens all over the world. In Dubai they keep your passport. In the US you can't leave the country if you have overstay issues. This traps vulnerable workers and gives power to employers.
So if you have over stay issues you just continue to over stay?

All these skyscrapers sort of give us impressions that all the roads are well built.
Slight correction to the video information and some comments below:
Dubai of today is totally different dubai of 20 years ago , lot of thieves , system is very useless there , scammers every where
Thanks for sharing great video about Dubai, and I been there and that is truth as I seen it with naked eyes and life is very difficult for thousands of unskilled workers who are treated like 2nd class citizens, no respect and dignity ,the Gulf arabs are rude and proud and look low upon people ftom Asian and African countries, I will never visit this unjust country again ,good for holiday but to live there no thanks, not everything that glitter is gold .
