Many thanks. It was a case of right time, right place for the 20's as I was there to capture 60009 on a North Wales Coast Express! If I remember rightly they were using the 20's on Derby to Llandudno trains
Brilliant video mate, oh the sights and sounds have been captured so well it's really bringing back the memories of standing at Rhyl during the summer holidays and watching the trains go by...
Thanks Bob, original was Super VHS and saved as an avi. file then converted to wide screen as a wmv. I was quite pleased with the quality. I think all my old VHS uploads will have to be redone!!
There is the odd benefit of being born before '84, not many though!! Glad you enjoyed the footage, I wish I'd taken more, most of the shots were while waiting for a steam special to appear
20087 is my lordz! I think it was a bit broken at the time though, thank god the ELR preserved this machine so that we may still worship her to this day!
@acw71000 I agree totally, you should stick with what you are passionate about. Having said that, 'The Capital Deltic' - Preston to Kings Cross on 12th June maybe a worthwhile addition to your collection. A classic in its own right.
I agree about people thinking back to the present scene, it does seem strange but even if the modern locos are not to our taste youngsters are enjoying them and taking up the hobby. I sometimes feel I should film more 'everyday' scenes as they will be tomorrows history but can't get excited about filming Pacers etc.
Thanks Matt, I find it difficult to get enthusiastic about modern diesels but when out filming steam I always used to film whatever else passed by whilst waiting
I had to smile watching this as it made me think of the future. Sometime in the future people are going to say; 'Do you remember when there where Class 66's everywhere and now there are hardly any.?' Sometime in the distant future, and EWS 66 will be running a charter, and people will go WOW! :-) Great video, Great Days. :)
I agree with that! I used to love units in the early 80's and heard older enthuisats slating them! who would love a ride on a swindon 120 or say a 104 or 110 or 103 class dmu now? let alone a class 40, 25,33 or my beasts a peak on the mainline now! I used to think steam was just kettles! give the new enthuists a chance! We were very lucky to have what we had!
Fantastic stuff, that was a superb era on the North Wales Coast and always appreciate someone who uses a tri-pod. Loved the 20's pulling out of Rhyl.

Mnay thanks Tim, sadly trees and bushes are starting to intrude on that shot at Conwy
I remeber having those choppers from llandudno to crewe!
The semaphore gantry sadly no longer at Rhyl at the 'H' bridge.
Thanks Michael, yes it is quite a noisy video, the 20's were my particular favourite

Aye, happy days indeed, I really regret not getting more footage while I had the chance though
scroll to 3.10 to hear much Class 20 noise and clag - indeed I wonder if this what caused global warming !!
No, I blame the cattle!
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it
