This is what I appreciate about this drama. You can feel such tender and genuine love the two leading characters have for each other. One kiss is enough to demonstrate the romance and tension without having to take off any clothes. This way is better, because it leaves more for the audience to hope for them to unite as one.
I agree! Even though this is a drama, shouldn't a love relationship be like this in real life. Intimacy doesn't have to equal sex.

I cant tell how just that 1 short kiss feel so intimate and sweeter than other long and passionate kiss in other cdramas. Like both of them really do excellent job to deliver the characters along with storyline.
These two are so good together. You can truly feel their love for one another, and the scenes were they are in pain.

This actress is extremely good with having chemistry with all of her male leads. I watched at least 4 dramas of her and 4 different leads (I hear you, Feel at ease Mr Ling.. etc). The feeling is always genuine as if they truly fall in love. She also super cute. I wonder how come she never have any love scandals with these gorgeous actors yet. 😂😂😂

This is one of the dramas which fulfill its hype. I kept repeating the trailer which has that Ling Buyi's dialogue..."one glance to eternity". And with each episode, it was getting better. Sigh...now I want to rewatch it all over again for the xx time.

I liked the contrast between her engagement with Ling Buyi and the first one with Lou Ayoa. She doesn’t need a picture book to tell her how to kiss or touch Ling Buyi. It just comes naturally. She touch and kiss him whenever she wants.
The way they look at each other on this episode, is so wonderful. Their eyes contact is so amazing and mesmerising. If I was their in person, boy I will properly drop dead ha, ha. They sat there and look at each, lm sure that if they are in a relationship for real or not, they must have fall inlove for real. It's a beautiful scene, very outstanding performances from both Wulei and Lusi.

These two join an elite acting group a very elite group. Through the years of film and TV we get sometimes a script a cast a music score a great director and we get magic and that magic is amplified by the main cast the couple who the story is built around and no matter what they done before and after this role will be epic. A great film is remembered by the leads a story that drags you through the worst of feelings sadness hatred, sorrow despair laughter happiness and love.
Gone with the wind is remembered because of Scarlett and Rhett/Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. This film should NEVER be remade and no one has tried.
Pride and Prejudice has been filmed so many times and all have made it look good but no one and I mean no one did it better justice than the TV series
MR Darcy/Miss Elizabeth Bennett. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle made this unforgettable it was until LLTG my all time favourite I have lost count how many times I have read the book watch the film and the series and no one does MR DARCY like Colin Forth did.
Many more duo's have put in legendary performances that stay with you long after the credits have rolled. Now I am adding this to that list. It will stay with me forever

I know how ling buyi felt watching shaosheng. It happened to me when i first saw my husband. Like time stops, you can see no one but them, you’re caught in this never ending stare of awe!!!! Its a beautiful feeling. Now 20 years later we have gotten married, worked hard and raised two children.

@@pirimpallopirimpalli4932 thats the one thing i dont get. From the very beginning, he grew up with revenge in his mind. To me, it was he motivation, his driving force in life. So i dont get why he relentlessly pursued her when he knew once has his revenge he will be punished, prisoned, banished, or killed. And he knew that! and how it will also affect his "wife/significant other".
@@roevilla7993 because he fell in love. And because he didn't know that he would be punished, because he wasn't planning to take revenge with his own hands. He wanted Ling Yi to be brought to justice publicly. That's why he broke down in desperation when Peng Kun was killed: he thought there would be no other way to prove that Ling Yi was a traitor and a murderer and so all he had left was to take vengeance with his own hands, giving up on the happiness he had started to think he might get in the end.
This is one of the most solid premises of this drama. I kinda think people easily oversee that scene, maybe some things are too implicit or maybe the audience is not paying attention enough. But I find that it's deeply solid.
Ling Buyi genuinely thought he might be get a happy ending with Shaoshang. But, and (this is my speculation but I think it's a general thing in fiction and maybe even in psychology to be likely), I think he was too eaten up by this huge secret conspiracy/vengeance thing to actually believe he deserved that happiness. I think he was eaten up by survivor guilt *and* by the weight of all his lies *and* by walking his path alone for all his life *and* by the hard, military trade *and* by whatever else you can think of in this list, and that weighed so much on him that he didn't really feel deserving of a happy ending. So, when he lost his key witness and didn't see any other way to get justice by the law, he thought he should just make a massacre. Which, in itself, was the final damnation for him as well.
And he was hard-pressed to do it, because, as underserving as he felt, as lonely as he was used to be, he didn't even consider involving Shaoshang in his plan and in order not to involve her he had to do it before they got married.
This is why she got mad in the end, and I don't blame her. We can be understanding of his plight and tragedy, but he decided to add abandonment of Shaoshang to everything else he did. Personally, I'm fed up with "I'll make you suffer for your own good" and applaud this show for putting that choice in the list of bad choices in life.
Ling Buyi had lots of psychological reasons to do that, but the fact is, in this story, he chose to damn himself alone rather than 1) allowing himself happiness (e.g. giving up on vengeance and living the rest of his life in peace and love) and/or 2) walk a path he could consider himself proud of in the end (i.e. be honest with Shaoshang, or maybe with the emperor even, and then try and get his vengeance done if everything else failed, without deceiving anyone).
Because he himself was ashamed of all the killings (and the Crown Prince deposition), and even more ashamed of how sneaky he acted to get that done. So, in this show, we all forgive him for his actions, but the show itself, the story, even Zisheng in the end condemn the sneakiness and the "abandon you so I'll sacrifice myself alone" thing as wrong.
What I mean by all this is, he didn't plan everything everything from the get go. But he could have adapted his plan to include Shaoshang. And I want to point out, for people who seem to forget that, that after he went and chose death and ignominy, Shaoshang went and saved his ass, both his life and his reputation, and it's all thanks to her that Ling Yi's crimes were brought to light. She actually did justice, she made the truth known. And she's my hero for that, because 1) she evened the score with Zisheng about who saves who, 2) she pulled him forcibly out of death, 3) she actually made justice where he failed to do so alone. Also, she kept the full extent of her dignity in all of this. Without ever raising her voice. My hero.

I however am still questioning why they changed the script such that Shaosheng was not the time traveller that she was in the novel. It would make so much more sense given her independence, self preservation instinct, free spirit, and even feminism.
