    I just want to say thank you for doing what you do and representing people with disabilities.
    So many 3d printer TH-cam videos are so fast paced and marketed to a very narrow group of people to make money.
    The people making these videos do not seem to understand usability and plain language, or understand what it is like to have a disability and daily challenges that they have to navigate in everything they do.
    You are a role model for kids with disabilities and thanks for making things accessible. We would not have gotten an ender 5 plus or attempted upgrades without seeing your work.

      Thanks Gdesign! You have no idea how much I truly appreciate your comment! I was in tears reading it. I work over 60hrs a week at my main job, and do TH-cam on the side. Even if I can help one person, I consider this channel a success. I hope that I can inspire more people with disabilities, no matter what kind of disability they have.
      I have taken more of a streamlined approach in the last 6+ months with my videos. Trying to be even clearer with my approach. I haven’t been on camera much. However, I will be soon. I have another Garage Makeover video coming out, Phase 5, with more ladder time! Yikes! People like you keep me motivated to make more content.
      Thanks again for your continued support!

    I tuned the serious vibration on the diagonal runs, Cable tied two VW polo exhaust rubber hangers on to the two 20x20 upper cross bars. They are heavy dense rubber, the weight and density silence the resonance. But the Hotend fan still rattles during the vibes.. heavy duty foam on the base rails shut it up too, as does the cabinet enclosure its now in. 24hrs a day no longer a problem.

    John, Great video!! I can see why it took you a while to put this together. The advantage of this upgrade is the extra features and options you gained. After watching the video and your fun with the control box, you can understand why I ditched the box and made a new mount.

      Hello David!
      Yeah, this video took me a really long time to put together! This video could have been easily 2 hours, I cut out a lot of footage. I might have to do a long term update. I stared at the box for a long time deliberating if I was going to keep it. I decided for this upgrade, I was going to keep the stock look. The box is getting crammed, but I kept it neat and tidy. As for future updates, we shall see if it remains! Yes, extra features and functions is correct, plus some future expandability. It is so nice to have the filament runout working correctly and leaving the bed heated on! I really dig the dual displays, I learned a lot making this video, diving into stuff I never did before. I hope that this video is useful to others as well.. Thanks again for watching!

      I used this for my Ender 3 Pro, but the Cheetah would not even compile. VS Code indicated that the INCLUDE folder was missing. DLed the Cheetah from both their site and from Github using the links in the Cheetah site. One DLed Cheetah, the other directed me to Marlin, no Cheetah. Cheetah would not compile and the second is that standard drone of completely modifying the code in Marlin, which I did before and didn’t work correctly.....when I did, I always get the NO PRINTER ATTACHED, and I have been unable to resolve.

    One thing that helps when cutting out your new slots is to drill out the corners first. If you want to keep your cuts straight you can take a straight edge to the case and rest the cutting wheel on that while cutting. Appreciate your video, I just ordered that board because of it. I chose the HRP-600 power supply though.

    Something else I will add, I trimmed the reset button off flush to the bracket on the tft35, put some masking tape around it and hit it with a dremel. Its just too easy to bump mid print where it is.

    This saved me so much time. I put in an SKR Mini E3 v2.0 board but the changes were pretty straightforward. One thing to point out with the current version of Cheeta enabling the EMERGENCY_PARSER caused the compile to fail. So I took it out and at that point, everything worked. Again thanks so much this is a really great video. Much appreciated.

    Thank you, I broke my silent board USB, and Creality didn't (still doesn't) currently ship to the UK. So I found this on alternative control boards, and it was very helpful! I have ended up using Klipper firmware, I'm happy with the results. Wow Tripod! That was one complete build! You really did go from A to Z! With this instructional video, it will definitely make it a lot easier for others to do this, without having to wait 4 videos to complete it. I totally agree the Creality board is just a waste of money. I heard that Creality’s new lineup of printers still do not have a 32bit board. If you are going to pay north of $300, a 32bit board should be standard, with upgradable drivers. I believe that companies like Creality are veering away from open source and not releasing the firmware on purpose, to lock down their printers. This way they get less questions about non-approved Creality upgrades. Just my two pennies! How long have they promised the Ender 5 Plus firmware\config? Their new lineup looks of printers all have a custom UI touchscreen... Thanks again for another amazing video!

    Tripod, thanks so much for making this video. I followed it (I think pretty carefully). My only difference is that I used the 2209 drivers (and snipped the required pin). I upgraded both the SKR board's firmware using the Cheetah using your instructions in the video, and the TFT display board using their github repo. My only problem after everything is done is with the BLtouch. I think I have my BLtouch wired (I think) exactly like you show, in the Servos/Probe receptacles (rather than the Z-stop probe that Kris Kersey showed in his video). I figured that would ensure that the firmware is configured for the BLT correctly. The only diff (and challenge) is that my cable is white/black/orange/red/brown. I think that matches yours (white/black/yellow/red/blue). However, when I try to Z-home, the probe extends and retracts a couple times, then flashes red and I get an error on the display saying I have to reset with an M999. I would be very grateful for any suggestions you might have for troubleshooting this one last issue.

    As an option for those wanting to save the money on changing the screen out: You can use the stock Creality Touch Screen with the SKR V1.4 using the TFT pin header on the board. I've done this on the CR-10S Pro and the Ender 5 Plus appears to use the exact same touch screen. I pulled together some info for the pinout on the Creality Touch Screen and someone else tried it before I received all my parts to complete my upgrade and they confirmed it worked. I finished my upgrade and was able to get my stock touch screen to work on it. I hope this helps someone else wanting to use the stock touch screen instead of replacing it: imgur.com/gallery/rcrRf0u and imgur.com/kanEegg
    I'm not being critical of you replacing it. Totally a cool option. I share this only because it was hard for me to find the info at first. I saw someone say it could be done because they had done it, but I needed to see exactly how. Well, I figured it out again (totally not the first person to do so), but maybe that info above will help someone else. It was really nice to be able to just change the pins and connector on one end of the factory cable and plug it straight into the SKR board and have it work.
    Thank you very much for putting this guide together. I'm saving it for when I go to upgrade the Ender 5 Plus. Cheers!

    @boogerhead0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Since you published this video, there is a newer release of Cheetah. Also, there is a remark in configuration.h, line 302 in the newer release, shows this:
    #define FILAMENT_RUNOUT_SENSOR // Define this if you have a filament sensor. Please ensure it is connected to your mainboard and NOT your TFT
    //#define INVERT_FS_LOGIC // Define this ONLY if filament sensor is not detecting filament correctly.
    Have you tried the INVERT_FS_LOGIC setting ?
    As to your remark about "when the source is released", it is all in the distributed files. You might not be recognizing the code, as much of the menu code is heavily wrapped in various macro definitions.

    • @boogerhead0
      @boogerhead0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As an aside, the line numbering has changed somewhat, from what you mention, to the current release, anywhere from 2 to 32 lines, depending on how far down the configuration.h file you get... but a little hunting around will turn up the desired lines. One also needs to set the "default_envs=" parameter in the platformio.ini file, about line 22. Using the turbo 1.4, I used default_envs = LPC1769
      This last definition is explained in the KAY3d Labs video th-cam.com/video/G5Yn_wPlrQs/w-d-xo.html
      If it was shown here, I just missed it.

    I just came across this video because I had searched for SKR 1.4. Good comprehensive video. Did you ever fix the runout sensor problem? you need to either plug it into the tft and try it or rem out the lines in the touchscreen firmware. You have the SKR looking for filament switch input at two different places. I know it works in one and not the other. Just try switching the sensor from the board to the screen. You had another problem too, with a similar solution, I dont remember what it was.

    Hello there
    I watched the video, and thank you for this for this detail. I have an ender 5 plus. I love it, but I am having these small issues here and there, and I'm leaning towards the stock board 8-bit and the firmware that comes with it. Also, their slicer creality 4.8.. I have been going over and over on videos to try to make sense if I do need to swap the stick stuff out and lean towards the better stuff. Upgrades I have done: exoslide, Capricorn Tubing, the silicone swap of the srings for the bed for leveling works great, by the way. My question to you on the video you presented on this upgrade. Did this make the printer work better for you? I'm only looking for the better upgrades as being a hobbyist only and my next project that I want to do is print out a gaming board and want to make sure that I get a really great detailed print for this. Thanks in advance for the update.

    You indicate that you have the SKR v1.4 Turbo yet you have configured for the LPC1768 which is the SKR v1.4. The LPC1769 should have been configured instead. Obviously, you have it functioning via LPC1768, but I'm curious if you are limited to 100MHz processing (speed of the LPC1768). The processing speed is the sole difference between the LPC1768 and LPC1769 which is likely the only reason it is working for you. I suspect you're not taking advantage of the LPC1769 turbo processor which runs at 120MHz. Can you confirm?

      @@mischaanwald 2209's (At least bigtreetechs version) will have the diag pin soldered to the stepper stick. This pin needs to bent/lifted/cut in order for mechanical endstops to work properly (keep it to use sensorless homing, that's the only thing it's for). Other than that and defining 2209 instead of 2208 there's no difference.

    This time I downloaded just the firmware.bin from hub, the EEPROM error went away after i reset it, however touch screen side still says no printer. Changed speed setting to no avail. On legacy side, i selected auto home. Bed moved down a bit and then Printer Halted.
    update again.... re downloaded the firmware.bin Played with wires and found the EXP2 for the display needed to be flipped upside down. Which is REALLY odd because BTT lcd and board should be correctly aligned. This firmware works, so I believe it must be a computer issue on my end, when I compile the firmware myself.
