Looking at the frescoes, I can only imagine what it looked like when it was new. It must have been so bright, a riot of color. Thanks again and Shalom.

Indeed, that was a baptismal font. Usually though, crypts in churches are there to house burial edifices or chapels.

Mrs Bez here. Shalom Danny! What a gorgeous day outdoors in Abu Gosh! So no archeological findings for the story of Emmaus from the 1st Century at this site? Could there be something underneath the church? No bedrock? I will keep following you for the next vlog, which might be the Emmaus site of the 1st Century.
On another topic will you vlog on Qumran at some time in the future?

Are there any warm springs in the area? Also, is there anything important about Emmaus physically or spiritually that would cause Jesus to appear there. He was in a lot of places but, only recorded when it seemed important.

Good Day Danny, When you were showing us the Mural of Mary ''Sleeping'' is that a term used to describe Holy figures whom have died.? Jesus is living to me because of the Resurrection so are all people associated with Jesus living as well through Resurrection.? Keep on Digging 🙏4✌

I have to comment that at least in Orthodox Churches, the general iconography of the church isn’t directly related with the name and dedication of the church. The icon of the dedication of the church is at the left (as we watch it) of the iconostasis, next to the icon of Virgin Mary.
If the church had an iconostasis, there it would be the relevant icon.

A little correction. They were not talking about His resurrection, but about His crucifixion. They did not believe that He would rise. "Luk 24:20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the judgment of death, and crucified Him. Luk 24:21 But we were hoping that He is the One going to redeem Israel. But then with all these things, this third day comes today since these things happened†" Christ then rebuked them for not believing and talked to them all about the scriptures that pertained to Him. He talked with them all the way to their house, where He bloke bread and disappeared.

Jesus was not resurrected from the death. So why trace the story of Emmaus?
