He said that after the Temple Mount was taken back, he and another Rabbi took tools (pickaxe, hammer, etc. ) and opened up a passage to a tunnel under the Temple Mount. They found a large chamber that contains the Ark of the Covenant. He said the the government ordered the passage sealed.

@Ed-ym4tu not likely. The Temple Mount and Golgotha are not linked by tunnels. The Golgotha site has been surveyed and has been cleared to serve as basically a parking lot for busses. There are ongoing surveys of "Jeremiah's grotto" cave system, and some may go in the direction of the Temple Mount, but none have been shown to reach it, and none of them go to Golgotha, as far as I have seen.
I think the theory popularized by Raiders of the Lost Ark movie is more probable. Just prior to the fall of Jerusalem, Jeremiah was imprisoned in a muddy cistern where he almost died, there is no way he was in any condition to hide the Ark and no servants to do his bidding. 2 Chron. 12:9 --"When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the Lord and the treasures of the royal palace.
