- It's back to work kids. No more fun stuff, just straight install time. If you own a 55-63 VW Bus, then you understand the struggle of finding a good front disc brake kit. They get expensive real fast since not many shops build them.
Well EMPI offers a kit that is affordable, and decent quality. (I've heard the bearings suck, but time will tell) This week we dive into the install of this kit. It's straightforward and back to basics for this one. Just to show you how easy it can be, I let my assistant Ocean install one side, and I do the other. Grab a beverage of choice, pop some corn and take notes cuz this is a long one. I hope it helps you out.
***IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!*****
The Master cylinder and reservoir is not included in the EMPI kit. It was purchased separately from So-Cal Imports. This kit was provided by Dam Volks in Boulder City Nevada.

Great video. So detailed. This is something I’d love to put onto my own bus. Thanks for sharing! ☘️✌️
*****IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!
The Master Cylinder was purchased separately from So Cal Imports. The EMPI kit comes with a single circuit master cylinder. ******
Great install video my only comment is maybe advise people to use flare wrenches. Very important in my opinion, when working on old crusty brake fittings.
I can’t stress enough how important your master cylinder tip is to those who have not done this job. Get everything started before you tighten anything down. Great tip!
Watching now another great video . Helpful as doing mine on my 66 soon .
Thanks Simon. 👊🏽
love that grease container:) Have you tried the VH 44 remote brake booster? They make the disk brakes amazing.
I have not. 👍🏽
@@the_Wagen I’m running them on my splits, drums on the rear and boosted disks up front. The braking will put you through the windshield if ya not careful 😂
George, your video's are super informative. Your work is top-notch. Another great job! Question, can I do the disc brake conversion on the fronts ONLY, and use my brand new (expensive German) single circuit master cylinder with the kit?
Im sure you can. It will require adding a proportion valve. I’d recommend dual circuit for safety.
@@the_Wagen Thank you.
Can you talk about your motor specs. Great video's
Think I’ll make a video about it. I get a lot of requests for it. 👍🏽
