I have a 76' 914. and I'm at the point of trying to replace the tie rods. I wanted to remove the steering gear so I could do the work on a bench. But that turned into too many points of failure. I just bought new ends and called it a day. I'm too weak and old to lay on the cold floor trying to remove all these parts and pieces.
Never use red lock tight. Blue lock tight would be sufficient. You will need a torch to get that tie rod off again. That’s on for life now. Geez. Good videos of how not to work on your car. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Benny, the castle nut socket arrived today to tighten the ball joint, my torque wrench only goes to 150 lbs ft as well, good diy video.
