    Before watching I did the decimal conversion first. But when I did the fractions I just did 2/5 × 3/4 = 6/20 reduced to 3/10 or .3 which is actually 3/10% = .3% = .003. It is much easier to apply the % over on the answer side. This way it is much easier to do it without a calculator.
    On the 8% of 60, I quickly realize that 10% of 60 is 6 so 8 × 6 = 48, slide in the decimal and I have 4.8. Shopping with different craft store coupons has made this a mental necessity. I have seen people refuse to buy something that is 35% off but get taken in with the "buy one get one 50% off" sale. That comes out to only 25% off and you have to buy two to get it!

    I know you're trying to teach, but this is really long-winded! 2/5% of 3/4 = 2/5 x 3/4 x 1/100 = (2 x 3 x 1)/(5 x 4 x 100) = 6/2000 = 0.003 Simples (I put in more steps than needed, too!)

    Just do the following:
    1) Divide the number preceding the % sign by 100 (because % means out of 100, like 31% is 31/100, 1/2% is 1/200)
    2) Replace the word “of” with the multiplication (“X”) sign.
    3) Solve the resulting expression.
    Here 2/5 % of 3/4 is 2/(5X100) X 3/4 or
    2/500 X 3/4 = 6/2000 = 3/1000 = .003
    If you know how to ‘cancel’ numerators and denominators with their common factors, these types of problems can be solved in the mind or with just a couple of scribbles in the margins of your paper.

    Greetings. The answer is 003. 2/5% is the same thing as as (2/5 ÷ 100). This equals 2/500. Now we will multiply 2/500 by 3/4 to get 6/2,000 . Finally, we divide to get
    .003.

  • @JulianShagworthy
    @JulianShagworthy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    (2/5)/100 is the same as 2/5 * 1/100 which is 2/500. Then 2/500 * 3/4 = 6/2000 = 3/1000 = 0.003 :)

    There's no reason for this video to be more than 30 seconds long.
    (2/5) * (1/100) * (3/4). Numerator is 2*1*3, denominator is 5*100*4. Simplify to get a 3 in the numerator and 5*100*2 = 10*100 = 1000 in the denominator. Answer is 3/1000.
    That's how I'd explain it. Why do you stretch it out to 17 minutes?

    How on earth can this take 17 minutes to figure out? 0,4 x 0,75 -> 4 times 0,75 -> 3 in other words 0,40 x 0,75 = 0,3 - then just divide by 100 to do the percent part ->0,003. Can hardly take much more than 5 seconds to calculate (BTW - I am almost 70 and have had university students who type 5 x 7 into their calculators - don't understand what has happened since I was a kid).
