    I have struggled with math since 5th grade. I could not grasp what the teacher was saying. I went to her and still could not get it. She looked at me and asked “how can you not understand, are you stupid?” The whole class laughed at me and would follow me around and ask “are you stupid” I finally gave up took failing grades and eventually dropped out. I wish I would have had a teacher like you. I am starting to grasp this and I am now 60 years old. Thank you for what you are doing.

    Thanks again John, I always learn something new with your videos. especially, this one ....-(2hplus 1), where the neg sign is equivalent to -1(2hplus 1), it makes it more clear.
    I notice that some advanced individuals question your elaboration: It's helpful to note that these videos are for viewers at many levels and while its easy for some others are still scratching their heads. Peace

    Fabulous tutorial, I've been getting a lot of useful tips. Being a retired Instructional designer I'd suggest you cut your intro down. Right now it's about 1/3rd the length of the lesson. GREAT stuff, and help to a retiree who has picked up subbing and needs help with Algebra!

    I solved that mentally easily - I use to practice the basics until they were reflexive so I hope those watching know to put in the work and it gets easy 👌🏽

    Good video, but the 4.5 minute commercial on the front end is tough to listen to.

    I actually got the right answer! I’m 71; so it has been a long time since I was in algebra class!

    14h+14+3h-15=4h-2h-1
    17h-1=2h-1
    17h-2h=-1+1
    15h=0
    h=0

    7(2h+2)+3(h-5)=4h-(2h+1)
    14h+14+3h-15=4h-2h-1
    17h-1=2h-1
    15h=0
    h=0

    I hope I’m not trolling. I would love to see some vids on some examples for the path from Peano arithmetic to algebra to, well, some college level topics. In HS,early, I was always wondering, who cares about math, until physics class got me stumped 😮In my opinion math is the basic layer. Without it, you’ll just get stuck. No exceptions. Even philosophy, or literature, requires logic to derive conclusions.

    I think your answer is not correct.
    4h - ( 2h + 1) is 4h -2h + 1.

    • @umamaheswari4625

      No, his answer is correct.
      4h _ ( 2h + 1 )
      4h _ 2h _ 1
      2h _ 1
      ( _ ) × ( + ) = ( _ ) only.
