Thank you Father for this sermon.
The Rotation days are largely forgotten or in most cases when they are remembered are applied principally to blessings of crops and fruits of the earth.
The Church primarily instituted the Rogation Days to motivate the faithful to a greater supplication for pardon of our sins and has applied the full force of Her influence with God to obtain the pardon.
It is our sins that have caused all the problems of the world. So blessing of crops, though good in itself, is of far less value then gaining pardon for sins.
Pardon means forgiveness without penalty. With God this refers to temporal punishment due to sins. Purgatory is not so much a punishment as a cleansing, even if the cleansing is painful.
Thinking of pardon, this is the main reason the prayers of Fatima are not in keeping with the traditional teaching of the Church. And probably why they have not been indulgenced by any Pope, in over 100 years.
The one prayer has Catholics "begging pardon for those who do not believe, do not love and do not adore God". When God does not change and has said, "those who do not believe will be damned" as recorded by St Mark 16:16 and St Paul tells us, "if any man love not Our Lord, Jesus Christ, let him be anathema"(1 Cor 16:22). So are we asking God not to punish those who do not believe Him, contrary to His own words and if they do not even pretend to love Him, we ask Him not to punish them.
    Sounds like Universal Salvation.
The other prayer, inserted in the Rosary, we are to ask the same thing. Universal Salvation, "lead all souls to heaven.
Both are in keeping with the changes made in the New Mass during the Transubstantiation of the Blood when the change from many to all was made. Catholics always prayer for conversion of self and others. We pray for mercy for self and others and we may pray for pardon for ourselves and other members of the Church, but not pardon for those who refuse God's word or love.
Now we have infinite dignity being applied to all men because the new theology is Universal Salvation.
