Fancy LEDS just destroyed the Philips Hue Sync box with their new HDMI 2.1 sync box TV backlight. I take a look at what makes these HDMI sync box so good and why they work so well when gaming and watching TV and movies. Plus I take a look if there is any difference between the HDMI sync boxes out there.

@@antonioalmeidarodriguez2972 what Pro version?
Why does it say HDMI 2.0 on Amazon?
0:13
Thank you for sharing great review I had no idea of this product for 4K
Hi, if I have an HDMI 2.1 splitter. Does everything work as it should if I switch between the hdmi?
Thanks for this; incredibly helpful 👌🏼
What distance from the wall would you say you positioned your TV in this review?
Best one I've seen. Thanks for the review.
👌
May I ask what model is the wall mount support you are using? Great video!
Just the video I was looking for, one that compares the popular sync boxes. Thanks.
👌
Thanks for the information. Just ordered the 3.0 and returned the Govee T2. Can't wait!
Govee / camera-T2 is better why? don't spend on $$-cables?
I have it, and 4 Govee Smart Light Bulbs(all$40) on each corner of the ROOM, and the tall lamp by the side of where we sit (6-all Govee & link to the app) and ALL the WALLS of the room is a THEATER for PS5, DVDs. MOVIES, SPORTS. I even stream my laptop to the Flat 65" TV, at 10" away from the wall (it looks like it is floating in the air). It is like a NIGHT CLUB nothing compared to just lights around the TV. and if the screen is black everything gets dark like off "black", and when the TV is off, everything turns off. plus I can control each color intensity of light on each WALL of the ROOM.
Yeah, I’m not convinced the current evolution of hdmi sync boxes is better than a camera based system like the Govee T1/T2. To my eye, the accuracy of the FancyLED sync box is too accurate; instead of nicely blending around the edge of the tv and subtly augmenting the picture, the individually color-matching LEDs appear to create bright, clashing blobs that draw the eye and detract from the picture displayed on the tv.
Good roundup - id kill for a box that works with TV features too!! Thats my only blocker atm
What one would you recommend out all the ones you've tested?
Could you please rate in order of (durability and performance): Fancy led, Govee, Lytmi?
I'm using the Phillips Hue Sync Box for my TV and I also have Phillips Hue Lamps for my Room. I have a RGB Stripe from Philipps Hue too but it's not as goood because it falls off on my table and my Wall is Green so the colors are wrong. I have also ICUE Smart Tower but they are not really Syncing. Do you have better recommendations?
Would love the 2.1 version for my TV but curious so I can connect my Google Chrome TV and ps5 is it better to get an hdmi splitter or just get the fancy led with 3 hdmi is there a big difference between the 2 being 60-120hz?
If your tv supports 120, go with 120
good info the comparison at the end was really nice too.
As a Canadian, it’s frustrating that the US Amazon link goes for $169, but the Canadian Amazon link goes for $641. That’s insane, lol
OMG 😭
So the wall at back of TV is that best to be darker ? or lighter ( same colour as other walls )
Thanks for this awesome review
Looks great does it support scenes with alexa so you can swap modes?
Curious. This is my same dilemma. I’m heaving into home theater sound. Im currently using a Sony sound bar that supports all the fancy inputs (VRR,low-latency,120hz, etc) I plug my game console into the soundbar, then to my tv. Essentially I’m running the video signal through my soundbar to my tv almost like a multiple hdmi switch. I’m wondering if I was to do that same but plug the sync box in between the soundbar and tv. Would it still work without issues or even work at all?
Great question. Curious to know too since I plug everything in to my onkyo receiver.
Does your tv support e-arc? You can plug your sound bar into the hdmi e arc input and your gaming console into another hdmi input. Same result. Then you can use the sync box.
I had this same question. I’m using different gear (Sony STR-DN1080 receiver) but if there’s pass through on your soundbar it *might* act similarly … what I did was plug HDMI inputs (eg Apple TV in my case) into the receiver (soundbar in your case), then the HDMI out of the receiver (soundbar) into the sync box, then sync box to TV.
Earc coming *out* from the TV makes things trickier, since that doesn’t send hdmi video, just lets you output sound from TV-sourced streaming (like on-TV streaming apps). I hope this helps, not much info on it all but I got it working with my setup and it’s righteous
I just one of these, it works well, easy to set up, can't quite settle of best settings yet
Do you remember what settings you used?
I have found it's a bit distracting for day to day TV, but great with movies so far, really adds to the immersion
Nice Vid. Good find. Just wondering why you didn’t flush mount the G3,
Are you pretty happy with it?
Thanks, the lighting works better with more of a gap and due to all the reviews I do I need to be able to move the TV out regularly hence why I didn’t use the flush mount. And yes I'm pretty happy with it.
This is a great review, thanks! Could you do a short video comparison of how the different diffusion modes look during gameplay? I'm really interested in this, but whichever setting is used primarily in this video is too distracting to me - I'm hoping one of the other diffusion modes is more blended / simple.
Wow That looks amazing! :0
🥳
Does this work with the shield pro?
Howbout using ARC? Not sure what signal is sent trough Arc, but what if its full signal then connecting the syncbox to it could make it work with anything that is on the screen regardless the source... You could then pass the signal further to the soundbar
Great video and how operates the sync box, but do we have any information about more input ports for more devices to connect. Maybe another product from fancyleds
Not sure about that, hopefully they'll see your comment and respond.
Nice one
Another great review bro 👍🏻
"FANCY" SYNC BOX"
❤️
Great review bud thanks.
Could I connect a firestick to this sync box ?
Can this backlight be used with projectors?
Fancy Sync Box :) Thanks for this awesome comparison!
Do all of these Sync Boxes support CEC? For example if i switch on my Nvidia Shield, it switches on the TV - does this still work?
Even if I put say my PS3, PS4, Bluray Player and Nvidia Shield in an HDMI Splitter, and go into the sync box from there?
hi there! thanks for your video. I have purchased two of these for two different dimension tvs. unfortunately i used the long one on the small tv grrr :( how can i connect the two already but correct cut led strips? thanks
Geek Street did a separate video specifically on cutting and splicing these LED light strips:> How to Cut LED Strip Lights and Extend EASIEST METHOD EVER!
what device i should purchase for inbuilt apps sync
So glad I watched this, as wanted to watch my downloaded movies through the Apple TV app? But that won’t work? Is there a way around this?
Do any HDMI switches/splitters work with all the features on the sync box?
I think this may work amzn.to/413MwHE
Would a splitter definitely work with this? Ive got a PS5 and PC which both support 4k 120
In theory I don't see any reason why it shouldn't but not something I've tested out yet.
Hi, this was a great review, well captured and very informative.
Just a quick question was this video sponsored by fancy led?
Im not able to get a display signal out of this onto my TV, do you have any sugggestions? HDMI from. Apple TV into sync box, hdmi from sync box to tv. “No signal”
Same problem for me but only when I start up a ps5 game, screen goes black then says no signal for between 10sec and 2 minutes before coming back, lights and all still react but no signal to the tv..
I’m ok with only one HDMI, so it’s sold! No issue with CEC ? Can an AppleTV start and shutdown both TV & Fancy lights ?
Can you connect kind of 2.1 hdmi switch and connect this to fancyleds
Thanks for the review, do you know if you can you sync the fancy sync box to the govee lamp? Thanks
Thanks no that not possible unfortunately
How is the HDR color accuracy?
A question, it working without hdmi input, like when i using TH-cam app directly in my LG tv, and it’s working or not, because i using my tv for youtube and Netflix from itself, doesn’t have any entertainment divice like PS5 or xbox or something like that.
No it only works via a hdmi connection
Good review!
Hey great review ,2 quick questions 1) if you exclude the VRR and ALLM functionality since i will be using it only for movies, how is the performance vs Lythmi 3 ? 2) when you close the TV do the LEDs close as well automatically or remain on? Thanks!!
1. Similarly but colours are sightly washed out on Lytimi.
2. If the source is off the lights remain off from what I remember
They werent washed out, they were dead wrong. That was in hdr and it no longer applies. They released firmware that corrected the HDR color accuracy issue. It was showing red as orange. I'll be getting the vrr/allm lytmi box this week

does it work while you watching netflix from tv not from console ?
Hi, so if you have a smart TV and launch apps from the TV, there is no lights synchronisation, right?
Correct
Would a hdmi 2.1 switcher work if I got a fire stick and a ps5 with this
Brother. I am new to hear and the Sync box world also. I have a doubt all the time from i started research to buy one. Will the bars on the video affect these lights ?
No it won't I've shown in the video
I'm glad someone is making a syncbox for smaller TVs I have a 48 A2 just for an office so until govee makes one for smaller TVs this might be the solution
Hello m8, im having my lg g3 delivered today, and was concerned about the game mode and how much it looks a lot worse, has this been sorted out now, if not what work around is there if any, i see your games you had on looked great, any advice would be great ,thanks
It's beem perfectly fine for me
what do you do if you have multiple devices like ps5 and shield how do you get both working with this?
i would imagine you would need an HDMI splitter
Funciona con TV OLED?
FANCY SYNC BOX …. I’ve been waiting for something like this also, ambilight effects are truely amazing.
govee sync box is also good but doesn't have hdmi 2.1 but they do release one in 2024
❤️
I run my Fire Cube through my home theater receiver which has all my apps like Plex, Apple TV, Disney, etc. Would I be able to run everything through the receiver then to the sync box and then to the TV and still have the desired result of the immersive experience?
Yes that should work
Yes! No problem 🙌
thanks for that answer, I'm having the same setup :) @@fancyleds
Only one input port on the HDMI 2.1 model, which sucks. I was very interested in this until finding that out. Even a couple of HDMI 2.0 ports alongside would've made this an instant buy.
They have 3 port box also. Check their site
@@FoxMediaCutZ-OFFICIAL yes, but it's only HDMI 2.0, I believe.
@@MattBoothyeah that's what I'm saying
Not any more
Any options when you have a smart TV and watch netflix with inbuilt app....ie no hdmi?
Can 2 gaming systems and a streaming device all be connected at once and usable?
Whats the diference between the 2.1 box and the 2.0 box?
Hi does this work with hdmi 2.0 I run all my inputs through a Av amp then one hdmi back to tv
Yes this should work
Does it work with built in streaming apps without needing a camera? Or just with external sources?
External sources only
QUESTION: it dosnt work with any smart t.v apps such as netflix?
Would this work with a modern avr?
Anyone know if with the fixation of Lg G3 thats good or block the led or the power of the light ?
There has to be a gap behind the TV for the lights to look good if you use the mount that came with the TV you'd have to pull it forward to get the best effects.
What is your tv mount?
Hello, a question. Films with a black stripe up and down can synchronize the colors or only on the side where there is no black stripe. Thank you.
Yes films with the black bars at the top and bottom can still sync
Will it work if I plug it between TV and av receiver (all my devices are connected to receiver)?
Yes, I'm doing that.
Does it support hdmi audio passthrough for eARC?
On the site it says "ARC is supported, however, eARC is currently not".
Work for lg c3 using hdmi pc mode?
Can this be used without an external gaming console?
Please tell if i play some movie from inbuilt app from tv then what about ambient light is there any solution for that ??
It won't work with inbuilt apps for that you'd need this one th-cam.com/video/283VG-grFps/w-d-xo.html
@@GeekStreet first of all thanku soo much for replying and that one means groov work with inbuilt app ??
Yes you'd need the camera version for that functionality

Hello! Now the Lytmi fantasy 3 pro is VRR/ALLM 120Hz ready so which one between Lytmi Fantasy 3 pro and Fancy sync box 2.1 you think is better?
Stay tuned review incoming very soon 👌
There is some saint Valentin sales right now so if I can have your though before it ends it would be nice… 😊 (I’ll watch your review anyway)
My two priority are accuracy and brightness of the LEDs
I think I’ll go for the Lytmi… More LEDs per meter than the Fancy sync box, 3 HDMI port vs 1 and more ecosystem options…
may i know how long approximately are the cables for the power, usb and hdmi? Thanks!
USB-C cable is 1m and the poweradaptor is 1.5m.
Can I use longer legs for bigger tv?
Fancy sync box. This is cool. I have the old dreamscreen 4k which isn't HDMI 2.1 but it has 3 HDMI inputs and I the app you can use these different presents for ambience light a fire or pride colours etc. Im glad there is an option for future TV's.
Does it support E arc and A arc?
how long is that type c power cable? also the length of that hdmi OUT cable?
What's the length of the cable from LED?
will it work with any HDMI splitter to have multiple source as input?
Hdmi is 1M
Power 145cm
Led type c 96cm
Hdmi splitter shoud work
I have 4 xbox's next to each other with 4 monitors. Do i need to buy for every monitor own sync box or are there better options for this situation?
Looks amazing!!!!
🤩
Is it play without PlayStation?
We can use for prime or hotstar apps ?
Concept is great & I like the fact that everything is hidden, but this seems to be basically just for gaming & not everyday tv usage.
So it does not work with tv apps but will it work with an amazon firestick for example?
The clip at 10:30 says it all. That's brilliant how you compared all four on one screen. Kudos my friend.💯💯👍like 307
Thanks bro much appreciated!
Especially the part where they all use the same game/video segment so you can really compare them 1:1 😅
How does it detect how long the led strip is? Say I connected a longer strip (of the same make/model addressable leds & external PSU) for a 200" screen - will it detect / resize properly?
Not something I've tried but I wouldn't be suprised if it works.
@@GeekStreetI don't think it would work... 99.999% of sync boxes I've looked at and contacted sellers - don't have options for adjusting the LED strip segments, so you purchase a 42" "version" and you can't use it on a 55" screen because "it's locked". Is this the same with this product?
@IvanV5900 best to contact the seller, I was thinking it may work as the led are cuttable and on start up it goes though a calibration. Let me know have it goes as hopefully this info will help others.
@@GeekStreetThe sellers are unaware .. they just sell a product. Do you still have yours? Can you test?
So what if I use my Phillips Sync Box and plug that into this and then into the TV? I use my sync box to sync my living room lights with the tv. This will make it next level so was wondering if I could do that
The Philips hue would reduce the signal so not idea best to use a splitter
Are these LEDs better than the Phillips hue trick you did for 4k 120 hz?
I'd say very similar but obviously better performance as it support hdmi 2.1 so 4k 120hz natively without the need to use a splitter.
does phillips hue have dimming zones where it shuts off the strip in dark scenes@@GeekStreet
@@HoodRed69 I've had a look at some of the footage I did with the Philips Hue and it doesn't look like it has it.
Great review, got me to pick one of these up, however I have run into problems with it, whenever I load up a game on the ps5, the screen goes black and says no signal for all between 10sec and 2 minutes before coming back, any idea? Anything you ran into with yours? Really annoying and when I mailed them and asked they said they were going to put an update to my device, but I just cant belive im the only one having this problem😂
That makes no sense, my PlayStation was fine. What TV do you have?
@@GeekStreetLg c3, tried different hdmi 2.1 cables, tried every setting on the tv aswell as the ps5, turning off vrr only changed the black screen time a bit, got the picture back a little bit faster with vrr off, but otherwise still not working as it should, Fancyleds said they were working on an update for me but that they had never heard of the issue prior to this.
@@linushall5064 That's correct, not for the PS5. So we're investigating, likely a fault or outdated firmware somehow. This should be solved for you soon, we appreciate your patience and apologise for the inconvenience.
Could you use a hdmi 2.1 splitter to get more connections like ps5, Apple TV?
Yes definitely
Czy działa to ze Smart TV czy tylko na podłączane urządzenia jak Xbox czy PS5?
Does the tv need to have hdmi 2.1 also? In order to support 120 hertz?
Yes
What about soundbars and Dolby Atmos? I find most of these sync boxes have issues with this.
Not something I've tested but would be interesting to hear from someone who has
Never heard of the fancy sync box, but if I ever get a new TV I might get this
What's the length of the USB power cable? Thanks
1m and its a USB-C LED connector cable.
Lytmi Fantasy 3 Pro was released last week that supports ALLM and VRR, I grabbed it because it also came with 3 HDMI inputs aswell
And I heard the lights are washed out and the latency is still there is this true cuz every damn review seems paid sadly
There’s only one review so far on TH-cam about the lytmi pro. They have fixed the HDR issues, only issue is VRR. Every now and again the screen struggles with the handshake when loading a game with VRR. If disabled it appears to be fine 🤷♂️
Gutted as mines in transit & don’t know if I can be arsed with it.
@@InSaiyan-Shinobi I am coming from the Govee T2 dual camera system so maybe my opinions are not as accurate as others but the colours are just as good as the govee in my opinion and ive seen no latency at all, especially compared to govee camera system. Hey guys i play with xbox series s. So 2k 120 fps is the max but most games doesnt support. Is this a good product what are your recommendations. Govee ai gaming or hdmi 2.0 version of fancy leds or this one or maybe another item. Which is the best overall but doesn’t cost as much as hue lights.
I'd say the Fancy LED sync box. I've had some trouble with govee and that camera is just an eyesore. But make sure you get the 2.1 hdmi sync box, else you can only do 4k 60fps.
@@jordirapper thanks I meant the govee ai thing that doesn't have camera but still fancy looks the best out of them with the 2.1 hdmi
does this support lg 65'' oled evo g3 - 4k tv (2023) with their apps like netflix? someone told me you have to use a chromecast or google apps for it to sync (it cant use the apps you download on the tv itself)
All TVs are compatible. However, a compatible HDMI device is required for the syncing of the LEDs, integrated apps on the TV will not be synced. So if you would like to watch Netflix for example with synced LEDs, you will have to watch using a compatible HDMI device like an Xbox or Amazon Firestick.
@@fancyleds thanks
“RPG games” like Spider-Man 2 is crazy 🤣😂
Wondered who'd spot that little gem 😉
Does this box work with an AVR?
do you have an answer to that ?? :) would be nice to know
Nice unit, but the inability to sync from internal TV source (over the air, built-in apps, etc.) is a deal killer for me.
I'd certainly like to not have a camera hanging off my TV to control things, like the Govee has, but it does make it work with anything displayed on the TV... no matter the source. The Govee (and its controller app) have tons of features/options available, along with syncing to external lights they produce via their DeamView mode.
