Hey all. Q70D and Q80D do appear to be 120Hz native with VRR, but Samsung’s use of the Motion Xcelerator badge can be misleading since most use of that kind of verbiage in the past has indicated a lower native refresh rate with motion enhancement to “fake” a higher refresh rate. I’m still not entirely convinced that is not the case, and have a question in to Samsung to see if they will clarify. That said, the spec sheet does list a 120Hz refresh rate deep down in the listing, but not as “native”.
The Q80 definitely has all the gaming features of the high end TV’s. 120hz VRR and all the best gaming features plus has fald. It’s been that way since Q80B at least I know I own an 85 in. The Q80 series is an excellent tv that gets overlooked to often and can hang with the high end TV’s just fine. It’s definitely not fake 120hz it’s ledgit 120hz

The S90D is going to be the issue TV this year. I just quit a PT job selling TVs at Best Buy on the weekends. Of the few 83" S90Cs that we sold, 1/2 of them came back. These customers were upset that the 83" didn't look like the 65" and 77" they saw in the store. They felt the different panel types were misleading. If the S90D becomes a panel lottery TV that will be an issue. I could see folks buying one, getting a WOLED, and then swapping it until they got one with QD-OLED.
Very helpful. Stores like their special model numbers because it keeps them from having to price match because they can say they are different. I believe that is part of the reason this started.
Is there a panel lottery for the s90d 55inch and 65inch as well? Have read reports that there is no guarantee of getting a QD-OLED screen with these TV’s
Thank you for taking your time to share the different Samsung tv with us. I saw a Samsung 65 inch for under $500 at Costco while I saw some other Samsung 65 inch going for over $1,000 . I wasn’t sure what the difference was.
I just purchased the 77" S95D and it arrives in 3 weeks. This is a long overdue (and huge) upgrade from my current 2008 50" Samsung HP-T5054 plasma which could only do 720p HD...not even full 1080p HD. I am excited making the jump from 720 (skipping 1080) to 4K. At the time that is what I could afford, 1080P were still expensive and 720 was common. Was still leaps and bounds better than the SD rear projector I had. Regardless of only doing 720p, its motion processing and black levels were leaps and bounds better than 2008 LCD's. When viewing the S95D on the showroom floor, I can assure videophiles when the TV is on it looks glossy and dripping wet. I was debating about going with the 85" Neo QLED QN92D just for bit of extra size, but with $2300 (Canadian) off the S95D it was a no brainer. Neo QELD's can do amazing things but as a former plasma owner, I wanted something comparable and that is OLED. Also FYI, my 2008 Samsung HP-T5054 plasma is still running solid! No burn in, no dead pixels, a testament to Samsung engineering.
Another “quirk” of the store specific models is that there is an extra feature to differentiate it from the regular models or a missing feature to allow a lower price. The Sony TV models at Costco has the upgraded backlit remote. Plus you can’t price match because it is technically a different model.
Please, review specialty type TVs in the 75” class size. I am very interested in the Frame TV for a nicer look when not in use (not sure if it even comes in the 75”). I would really benefit from a review to discover how the performance compares to other specialty TVs and how do they compare to the standardized versions of similarly priced and sized TVs, otherwise? I want the nice look of the Frame but I can’t find any information about how good the TV s color, sound, etc., are when it is in use and being viewed from multiple angles in various lighting conditions. I do not want to sacrifice certain things in order to have a better look while turned off. Would love an affordable TV that looks great when turned off and when it is turned on. Outdoor TVs are another specialty type of TV that I would appreciate comparative analysis of, as well. I really love your reviews and hope to see you add these specialty TVs as another category that you regularly include in your future reviews. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for the information. I went to Best Buy yesterday trying to figure out what the model numbers meant. I hope you do the same type of video for the other tv brands out there.
I had a S95C. It had some serious issues with my PS5. Every few seconds the screen turned black and there was nothing i could do but lowering the resolution on my PS5 to 1440 which is equivalent to buying a sports car and drive it with 25mph. I had no choice returning it and go for the S90C which has an awesome picture quality also. If Samsung fixed that issue with the 2024 Model S95D i will definitly buy it because the picture quality on the S95C was mind blowingly good!
S95D also heavily discounted...at least for another day. I received $2300 (Canadian) off the retail price. $2000 discount and even though I didn't trade a TV in, I still received another $300 discount. Getting a $6000 TV for less than $4000 feels like theft lol.
@vincentvincent9576 I got the 75" from Costco for $2450 all in, but that included an extended warranty. Best Buy had one used for $1800 pre everything, but they had it out as a floor model for a month and I wouldn't have touched it with a 10' pole. Jealous of the 85". Maybe one day 🤣

I've appreciated your videos on the S95D! I have been an LG fan for a long time but where I live now, I do get reflections from the windows (not direct sunlight, but mirror like reflections in the day even with my blinds closed which still let in diffused light). The S95D should completely eliminate that for me and your positivity about the TV helped me make the decision to give it a shot!
I replaced a LG with a The Frame this year and now I'm just all for anti-glare TV and One Connect box. Now my goal is getting the S95D for the perfects blacks and gaming specs.
3:09 Wait, Q60D is 60 Hz and doesn't offer HDMI 2.1, but Q70 and Q80 are all 120Hz refresh rate. The same goes for the last year and probably before. Is it some trickery with a 60 Hz native accelerated to 120 Hz? Samsung and other companies have done this for years now on certain models. One would think that native 120Hz panels would be more of a standard now.
Even though I expect to be happy with my 85-inch Sony Bravia X90CL for a number of years, as an audio/video / home theater enthusiast, I still enjoy watching videos and reading about everything all the major brands are putting out every year whether I can afford it or not, including everything in this Samsung video you just made. Being there is not much native 8K content in the US, I think Samsung is making a mistake and for their financial benefit should drop their 8K lineup and put all the backlighting technology and processing found on their QN800D and QN900D in a flagship 4K model above the QN90D. Also, if Samsung was to acquire the license for Dolby Vision compatibility/support and add such a feature, how much higher of a percentage would they have to raise the price of their displays?
In my country, the discounts given by Samsung is unbeatable. Currently the S90c is selling for ~$1600 while oled from other companies like LG and Sony are >$2500
Would it be worth switching from Lg 65c2 to Samsung s95d 77 inch, on black friday? Or keep the lg C2 a couple of more years, for even better picture Quality/technology?
Always great content and very informative. The only thing I was missing was more of when these TV releases? That would help inform of how long the 2023 year models are going to be discounted, and maybe even get a bigger discount close to 2024 year models release.

Are there significant improvements on this years QLEDs over last years. Trying to understand why I am paying extra for to get a Q70D over a Q60D. Thanks in advance.
You commented on this video that the new QN90D is the more or less the same as last year's QN90C with a recommendation for picking up the outgoing model at a discount. However, in your review for the QN90D, you mentioned that the new model rectified the delay in dimming processing. I returned my QN90C because of this delay and other distracting side effects of the local dimming system. I'm now considering getting the QN90D, but this video contradicts your other video. Which is it?
Other than the Frame, which Samsung Tvs include the One Connect Box? Also, are all the TVs that use the One Connect Box super thin like the Frame? Thanks.
I just purchased the OLED S90D, and samsung said the only difference from the S95D is a control panel. You can use it on connect for all your hdmi and other ports. That's what samsung told me.
Ya the Q80 definitely has ledgit 120hz and all the same gaming features as the high end models very good tv often looked over. When buying Samsung I recommend the Q80 series and up they drop down in quality fast below that
the 43 and 50in 2023 QN90C are VA panels, and have very very narrow viewing angles. (i own the 43in), It is the higher sizes only that have the ADS Pro panel. It looks like all sizes of the 2024 QN90D are VA panel.
Still rocking my old 1080p tvs with no plans on upgrading for so many reasons but this is good to know. I just want to know which type of screen by which manufacturer lasts the longest. I bought a stupid expensive tv because it was supposedly the best 3d tv when they came out and it lasted 4 years and it did not have a better picture than a non 3d tv which is still going strong. Most people just want to know how long a product lasts.
Very informative video! Love that you have a segment for each model and explain. Would love some more info if the tvs are good for gaming (input lag) and watching sports
Not that it makes a difference to the consumer, but sometimes that special model number is their way of getting around business agreements with certain retailers. For example, Costco typically has an agreement with it's vendors that they will give Costco the best price, and they may face penalties or issue kickbacks if they sold the same model cheaper elsewhere. Another thing you may notice on TV's with slightly different model numbers is small cosmetic differences in a TV that has identical hardware, such as the trim surrounding the screen having a different finish. However very few retailers would carry both at the same/similar cost and would typically only carry on cosmetic version.
I currently have the s90d 77-in. I heard that the QD-OLED screens are easy to scratch I just looked at mine with the screen off with the flashlight and I have two scratches. I was thinking about taking it back and replacing with the QN90D 85 in or should I just get a replacement for the s90d or replace it with a QN90D. I am in the living room with light controlled environment. The only thing I will do is watch movies, TV shows, a little bit of news, no video games. Is the QN90d black levels almost the same as the s90d would I be disappointed with the QN90d.
What about X95L 75 inch ? In my country they are only available at 85 inches which is too large for my usage. Is it the same reason why QN95D might not arrive to US?
Thanks for the rundown, all the models are so confusing. I need a new 55” TV soon, I keep my TVs forever the current one is 10 years old. I mostly watch TV shows, Movies and sports. It needs to be is a room with lots of windows and reflection is a real problem. Is the anti-glare only a S95 feature or does the S90 have it as well? It sounds like it works well.
Do you thinks a good deal on a repaired qn90b with two years of warranty is worth it still? Alternatives for that price would be something like the tcl c805 in europe

Would it be worth switching from Lg 65c2 to Samsung s95d 77 inch, on black friday? Or keep the lg C2 a couple of more years, for even better picture Quality/technology?
Qled Linup has also some 120Hz panels.
As far as i know, the Q80C (2023) has a 120Hz capable panel.
Always great content and very informative. The only thing I was missing was more of when these TV releases? That would help inform of how long the 2023 year models are going to be discounted, and maybe even get a bigger discount close to 2024 year models release.
I just brought my s90d and was wondering are you going to put out a video of your calibration for this specific tv or is it room specific?you made yours look amazing
btw love the way you do your reviews !
Where are the list prices per model? Are they on another video?
Are there significant improvements on this years QLEDs over last years. Trying to understand why I am paying extra for to get a Q70D over a Q60D. Thanks in advance.
You commented on this video that the new QN90D is the more or less the same as last year's QN90C with a recommendation for picking up the outgoing model at a discount. However, in your review for the QN90D, you mentioned that the new model rectified the delay in dimming processing. I returned my QN90C because of this delay and other distracting side effects of the local dimming system. I'm now considering getting the QN90D, but this video contradicts your other video. Which is it?
What about the New QLED QNX1D?
So is the new Frame tv worth upgrading to over the old one?
Other than the Frame, which Samsung Tvs include the One Connect Box? Also, are all the TVs that use the One Connect Box super thin like the Frame? Thanks.
I just purchased the OLED S90D, and samsung said the only difference from the S95D is a control panel. You can use it on connect for all your hdmi and other ports. That's what samsung told me.
QLED QE1D 4K Smart TV Is not mentioned.
Very informative would definitely like to see a break down with other brands.
I bought qn90b 75 in pc richards. Next to the 85 settings the same panels seems different. I choose 75
With the crystal uhd models would I be able to screen mirror my samsung tab s9 fe to them?Thankyou!
How is Samsung QNX1D? I couldn't find much information on youtube.
Hey you made a minor mistake. The Samsung lineup starting with the Q70 becomes 120hz. The Q60 is the only QLED that remains 60hz
Not entirely minor. Thanks for the call-out
Ya the Q80 definitely has ledgit 120hz and all the same gaming features as the high end models very good tv often looked over.
Where is the QN95D,that model not coming to the North America market?
Still rocking my old 1080p tvs with no plans on upgrading for so many reasons but this is good to know. I just want to know which type of screen by which manufacturer lasts the longest. I bought a stupid expensive tv because it was supposedly the best 3d tv when they came out and it lasted 4 years and it did not have a better picture than a non 3d tv which is still going strong. Most people just want to know how long a product lasts.
Very informative video! Love that you have a segment for each model and explain. Would love some more info if the tvs are good for gaming (input lag) and watching sports
Only a panel switch to VA for the QN90D was mentioned. Do we know what is happening for QN85D?
Is the QE1D just a Q60D?
Not that it makes a difference to the consumer, but sometimes that special model number is their way of getting around business agreements with certain retailers. For example, Costco typically has an agreement with it's vendors that they will give Costco the best price, and they may face penalties or issue kickbacks if they sold the same model cheaper elsewhere. Another thing you may notice on TV's with slightly different model numbers is small cosmetic differences in a TV that has identical hardware, such as the trim surrounding the screen having a different finish. However very few retailers would carry both at the same/similar cost and would typically only carry on cosmetic version.
found this interesting and helpful. more please
So I'm torn between a QNX1D QDLED and an S85 OLED. Which is superior?
What about the qn86d ( 2024 ) 🤷
Thanks for the rundown, all the models are so confusing.
I need a new 55” TV soon, I keep my TVs forever the current one is 10 years old. I mostly watch TV shows, Movies and sports. It needs to be is a room with lots of windows and reflection is a real problem. Is the anti-glare only a S95 feature or does the S90 have it as well? It sounds like it works well.
Do you thinks a good deal on a repaired qn90b with two years of warranty is worth it still? Alternatives for that price would be something like the tcl c805 in europe
