I dunno, feels kind of lonely.
It's not something I've ever had an issue with, except for being an Empath. I've got a few friends and fam who deal with alot of health issues, and if mine alone weren't enough, feeling what they do can seriously hurt even worse. Like knowing when my friend who's been battling cancer and depression shot themselves trying to just end their pain, that hurt like crazy and I actually got very sick from it. And then to have a family member who I love and miss to bits, I don't think she knows it, but when I sleep, I mostly see what horrible things she's going thru, what's been done to her and the likes.
Empathy isn't a bad thing, but damn, it can seriously hurt 😢😷😳
I don't even shake peoples hands anymore as that's how sensitive I am. Hugs? Only to a very few and it still affects me :(

Maren H. I’m actually an extrovert (an ENFP on the Meyers-Briggs, which is their most introverted type of extrovert) and I’ve been told recently by so many adults that I’m an old soul. I watched this video, and it completely applies to me. I think I just have a foot in both worlds, though- like, I love talking to people, but the moment I’m alone, I want to savor that moment.
I think it just makes me weirder because I always want to share my deep revelations with everyone around me and they don’t know how to react... that’s what I get for being super introspective and yet also super talkative at the same time.
I guess that and a bit more makes me an old soul, and an... ambivert?

Everyone is like: "that describes an introvert"... Yeah, maybe some traits are similar but it doesn't mean just because you're an introvert that you're automatically more mature etc.
I know a lot of introverted people, and some of them are pretty immature and don't have a thirst for knowledge and don't see the big picture.

Your logic is flawed, because no one here is equating introversion with emotional maturity. They're simply equating the evidence given with introversion, which is true. Just because introverts aren't always emotionally mature does not mean this video isn't subtly describing introversion.
I think... It's not "Introverts are emotional mature", maybe more like "Emotional mature people are usually (not only) introverts", because we take time to deal with our emotions
I've been recognized as an old soul by a few of my friends and family. Initially I thought that being an old soul meant I was missing out on my youth my accelerating my maturity. But then my sister told me that I have reasons for liking certain things and disliking certain things. You're not missing out of life by not doing things that you didn't even like in the first place. Seeing through the shallow things in life is a gift not a burden, it can motivate us to pursue more meaningful things in the long run.

Boo I felt the exact same way, until my parents once took me aside just before I left my hometown for college, and encouraged me to stay who I was-not very social, shy, introverted, hard working, compassionate...EMOTIONALLY NOURISHED AND RICH.
I love being an old soul. But it does get lonely sometimes. Wishing you could meet someone out there like you. Someone who isn't glued to their phone or talking about meaningless gossip.

I'm going to be 72 next month, and when you reach this age, the topics of conversation are health problems, what the grandchildren did, and what you just had to eat. I swear, I could practically feel my brain cells dying. Make that committing suicide.

I think that being an old soul actually means you have been through tough situations in your life and the pain and hurt has helped you grow mature and perceive and value things through a different perspective...a more "serious, old and mature" perspective. For example people have hurt you and betrayed you several times in the past so now you value those who are trustworthy, faithful and loyal to you...
I think an old soul represents that you been reincarnated a million times back on planet earth, someone with a new soul has been reincarnated for 1 or 2 times

Being an old soul is not so great, i feel an extreme disconnect from anyone even remotely close to my age, which is why my girlfriend is 7 years older than me.
Yup my friends are like 5 years older than me and i don't feel any connection to people on my age neither women or men it's probably half reason why I'm so alone :(

When I was younger, my only friends were two of the teachers. Now, all of my friends have something going on in their life. 3 of my friends have divorced parents, 1 of my friends have social anxiety, and 1 of my friend's parent drinks (and is divorced which sounds just SWELL!)

What I tend to do is kinda adapt my "personality" to others. It's to fit in, so when sb is out going, loud and energetic, I get a bit louder too, and as time passes, it just gets "natural", same is the other way around. I sound like a fake person, but honestly, I don't have any bad intentions, I just want to fit in, and when the person is very important to me, I want to decrease the chance of losing them
As you grow older this will automatically drop off and you will be your real self around others

I'm an old soul since I feel like I aged 100 years in the past decade thanks to good and bad life experiences. My coworkers have even told me that I sound like I am in my 50s since I am too serious minded for a young person.

This video describes me 100%. Used to think something was wrong with me when I was younger but now I get it. People in general love being and thinking on low levels (sports, sex, drugs, alcohol, parties, etc). Those who think on higher levels and value more important things are seen as "non-conformists" and are ostracized. Experienced that my entire life...thus is why I gave up on people a long time ago...

This is mostly me in a nutshell. I can relate to this lesson.
From the age of a toddler, I’ve always been told that I’m wise beyond my age, relating to 30, 40, and 50 year old friends of my parents more than my peers. I never really understood what they meant, but now that I’m older, I look back and reflect. Quite an odd feeling, but it holds a hint of nostalgia.

Hans Adriel Gabriel Mainly we try to keep our distance simply because we know that it not a great idea to interact with them. We look at virtually anything that raise the red flag and we simply avoid, and those peers at our age group usually stack with red flags. Disrespectful music, nasty attitude, risky behavior, bad decisions, no effort to improve themselves, not using their time wisely,etc. I’m only 19 and I’m just a ghost drifting though college right now.

I couldn't agree more, for I too, am in college, which means I'm surrounded by idiots yet again. I was beginning to think that I was the only one with this mindset, given the fact that everyone my age seems to act the exact same uncivilized way, but I guess I was wrong. There are others out there that think like me and would agree with my opinions, but sadly, if they're that much like me, then they too are difficult to find in a world, or at least in a nation, filled with practically synchronized stupidity.

Learning to become more vulnerable, empathetic, and compassionate... recognizing how lost many of us are. Im 29 and realized why I have felt so weird relative to society, and that society played a large role in making me lost. I finally have much more clarity about my self, and am embracing it.

I'm 17 years old and I've always enjoyed the company of adults and older people more than the company of teens my age. I have similar interests, hobbies and likes with people much older than me and I can actually keep a conversation with them. Teenagers my age have always seemed too childish, naive and inexperienced for me and their way of thinking often makes me uncomfortable. People often tell me I am too mature and serious for my age.

I'm currently taking a break from social media and was searching for history stuff on youtube when I stumbled upon this. This made my day better, because now I know, that even though I dont love myself and often judge my existence, I would never switch myself with someone else. I would never want to be someone else than myself, because with myself I helped so many great people around me who needed a me. And that makes me the happiest human on earth, knowing that I made them smile. Somehow I can't stop hoping, and that scares me terribly, but I don't want it to ever stop. To all of you out there, take time for yourself. You are just as important as the people you value, and through your self-love, others will feel strengh and inspiration.
Being an old soul is definitely a good thing yet it makes it hard to connect with people your own age since everyone is pretty immature and ignorant until they reach a certain age, but by the time people your own age matures to relate to your way of thinking...you're even more enlightened during that time it took others to see what you see for the first time.

I'm an old soul, im lonely, and im suffering. Being an old soul is not mysterious and cool. Im at university and nobody has reached a maturity level like mine. instead, im supposed to "ease up" and "have some fun". I want to fit in, but doing that is too draining and that fact is upsetting. My other half understands, hes an old soul....but still younger than me; it seems like a spctrum.

I have been the same way my whole life. Even when I was in grade school, I liked my mom's friends better than any of the kids at school, and found my older relatives much easier to talk to. I would still do a few things with people my age, like go to birthday parties and whatnot, but most of the time I'd prefer to be alone or talking to maybe a couple people at a time. I had a hard time making friends until college, where I found a couple people I did get along with quite well. My advice would be to not worry about all the friends you don't have, and to focus on the few really great ones you do have, because they matter the most. The people who understand you are the most valuable. I'm 32 and only have a few friends, but they are the best friends anyone could have. Do try to have some fun, just have it in the way you like to have it. Is reading your fun? Go read! Let people call you a stick in the mud, it's none of their business! If you want someone to chat with, I'll talk to you too. :)
Being an Old soul has its upsides and downsides, but as I age (I'm 22) I begin to appreciate my maturity, mental clarity and "life is a struggle, learn to bear it"- attitude. Even though this makes me rather melancholic, and rather different from people my age, it will help me in the long run, and I've learnt to love (or acknowledge the value of) the lessons I learn from times of adversity, a skill I've found many people my age have not yet aquired fully. Maybe this is what wisdom is, I don't know, however it does strip life of much mindless fun and joy. Hopefully I will one day find this joy and energy within myself, because I know it can be found there.

people my age are so annoying and teenaged girls are so closed minded and superficial. i can't find anyone i don't see through immediately. i get on way better with adults and i ADORE philosophy as it thinks past all the other subjects. it's so difficult to feel isolated and it's frustrating when youre surrounded by idiots who ask you stupid shit like "what time do you wake up in the morning?" or "what is your favourite subject?". it sounds really snobby when i put this in words but i just want to meet someone the same as me.

Hey i know this is 3 months late but I understand this so much. Girls in highschool and even the beginning of college can act so fake, they go from being your friend when you're alone to not talking to you in front of big crowds because you aren't the most popular kid in the room. Or they only try to talk to you about trends, and/or never even try to get to know you as a person on a deeper level AT ALL. The best thing to remember when they act like this is that you are mature beyond your age, and they just need some time to catch up to you :)

I'm a teenager and i don't understand why people my age act so weirdly and why they are so vulgar when they speak or eat, and they are so mean to their parents,i did some mistakes when i was a kid but i was never mad when my mother punished me,mostly because i was wrong and she corrected me and we usually laugh it off so i'm really grateful for her being my mother. I was raised differently my family was full of old people so i kind of adopted some traits that i liked about them the most.

This reminds me of the time I was in 7th grade and a teacher was lecturing us about being irresponsible and untrustworthy. He then asked the class which they would trust to be their doctor, the whole class picked me. I was slightly fulfilled.
I'm 13 but i can relate to all of this. I don't feel like i fit in with my peers and i only have 2 wonderful friends that are like me. It does feel really lonely because it feels like no one understands me but i remind myself that there are people out there like me who feels the same way. I do think being an old soul is a beautiful thing because you have a gift to emphasize and can see through people, and you can use that gift to serve humanity in some way and i think it's really great to leave your mark in the masses. Number 9 and 10 is me. I'm deeply fascinated with older songs from 70s, 80s to 90s because I feel much more connected in those kind of songs than the newer ones. I feel so disconnected with the present society I live in and usually find solace in older and classic songs
