- As NASA prepares to launch American astronauts this year on American rockets from American soil to the International Space Station - with an eye toward the Moon and Mars - NASA is accepting applications March 2 to 31 for the next class of Artemis Generation astronauts.
The basic requirements to apply include United States citizenship and a master’s degree in a STEM field, including engineering, biological science, physical science, computer science, or mathematics, from an accredited institution. Candidates also must have at least two years of related, progressively responsible professional experience, or at least 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. Astronaut candidates must pass the NASA long-duration spaceflight physical.

As part of the application process, applicants will, for the first time, be required to take an online assessment that will require up to two hours to complete.NASA expects to select the new class of astronaut candidates in mid-2021 to begin training as the next class of Artemis Generation astronauts.

Best of luck to anyone who wishes to be an astronaut. That was one of my dreams, but Vietnam got in the way (I volunteered for service there). Also, I have a physical disability that would make it impossible for me to do so (besides the fact that I'm 70 years of age!). I do have a PhD, but it's definitely not in a STEM field ... philosophy. Young people, work hard, keep in shape, meet the qualifications ,and I hope to be staring at my TV watching you, someday ... like I watched Neil Armstrong, in 1969. Who's going to step on Mars, first? It will be one of you.

I didn't, but I wouldn't work for any organization that would send men to Mars without having at least one person whose primary education and experience was in psychology. That they believe every crew member needs to be able to fly a jet and be trained to repair a spacecraft shows that their technology and thinking is 50 years out of date. You don't need a masters degree to be able to fly or repair machines that are built by high school graduates. You need to be able to learn how those machines function and follow directions.
The sciences and tech that were enumerated are all hardware and hard sciences, but the hardest problems will be human, not technological. It doesn't matter what kind of screening NASA uses, the military jet jockey they put in charge is going to have problems that can't be fixed with a calculator and a toolbox..

There, these last 2 make it real. I know they really aren't the specific requirements, but it only take 10 seconds to go and see that all of the previous astronauts had these.

Today im 14 years old and ever since i was 10 ive had the goal to become an astronaut after discovering the complexity of space, so every day i learnt about space, i learnt what i need to know and i try to learn more and more study these facts on my own and every birthday i look upon this video to inspire me, and every year i pool all my knowledge and test myself, to be better smarter and physical capabilities, and now today im designing a basic design of a sounding rocket. The first time I was asked what I would like to be at 6 years old I said I wanted to be a astronaut but being born in a third world country with where dreams can't travel far I quickly realized my limits. I've already resigned to that fact and now I'm just driven to make enough money that one day God willing I'll be able to pay for a trip to go to space. At least once.

Oh yeah, math will get you alright! If you're good at math, them you're already set for success! If not, I'll tell ya what you'll need to do in order to succeed in math classes.
My major is going into Physical Science and I'm already into Precalculus level and need to get to Calculus III, so before I've went to take on the class, I've studied ahead of time while taking a break from college, get a textbook from online, store, or from TH-cam for example Khan Academy is a really great mathematics TH-cam Channel, practice one section at a time, quiz yourself, and move on to the next section of whatever your course description say about the class (If that shows for you). Procrastination will set you up for failure, STUDY when you get the TIME, and keep on doing it everyday if you can, then take on that class! Maybe even create a math study group wouldn't be such a bad idea at all!

I'm graduating this May with a bachelor of science in Astronautical Engineering and then I'm going to graduate school after I get a job. My college is about 4 miles away from Goddard and many of my professors have and still do work for NASA. I might consider becoming an astronaut one day, but now I just want to get my foot in the door at NASA. I've always wanted to work there.

When you lift something from one end, first, that end gets lifted and the other takes a little more effort to LIFT. So Liftoff is not the correct term, the correct term would be blastoff as the rocket blasts off the ground into Oblivion

It's all geared toward women, despite the fact that boys and men are failing far more in school, graduate far less and are achieving less.
