I'd like to add this classic military watch into my collection. The size is really perfect for people with smaller wrists. Really happy that Hamilton decided to go for this case diameter! (The 38mm Khaki mechanical is also great, but I agree with some people that the lug to lug length should be shorter. A 47mm lug to lug length is really too long and kind of out of proportion.)

The Arrow, also nicknamed in the British military as a Crows Foot, is used by the UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) on anything issued to the British military, army, royal navy, royal air force. So if you find a watch with the Arrow mark, it would have been an original UK military issue watch.

I expect HAMILTON to offer this collection with 100 m WR only in the future. Some improvements are under the hood and you will only notice them until market on the case/dial ...
John Epic These new ETA movements don’t all better than COSC requests... it’s only a monetary decision not to let the movements be tested by COSC. If they would go through that 14 days of testing they would easily get that vocation of being an officially certified chronometer
John Mcdonagh You should still try this HAMILTON on your wrist... You never know, you might like it... In case you’ve done it let me know what you thought...
Hello from Australia Alexander, I just happened to purchase my first Hamilton without ever seeing one in person. It isn't a brand you see much over here.. The big power reserve, day date function and 24 hr markings made it very appealing to me for my day to day work. I ordered a Black Khaki 42mm with the H40 movement which should arrive any day now. What are your thoughts? Have you handled these before?
Hello from Austria 🇦🇹! Well done to order the black Khaki... You will get real value for the money executed in a flawless way. So I know that you will like the watch... Once you have it let us know what you think please...
@@WatchAdvisor Great news, my watch has arrived! I really like the symmetry of the dial lay out the placement of the day and date complications look just right to me. I thought that the all black case and dial may make the watch wear a little bit smaller but it does indeed wear every bit a 42 mm watch. Perfect for my 7 1/4" wrist. It would be nice if the lume was brighter as I work in low light conditions alot but maybe it is not possible with the grey colour numerals. The 80 hour power reserve is maybe the best part. No having to reset the time after a long weekend!
@@Nixxtrr Yes, normally black makes things appear smaller ... At first sight maybe, but if you look closer you will still be able to discover the true size. When wearing a watch with a diameter of 42 mm you feel these 42 mm on your wrist, so I think black can't change too much. Its a cool watch though, so enjoy it! May your Hamilton always show you HAPPY seconds, minutes and hours...
Release that chronograph on a brushed and tapered oyster bracelet. Throw away the rotor and make it hand wind only. 38-41mm. 10-12mm thick. Throw in a nato in the package. Charge 1500USD +/- Make sure it's a screw down crown!! Offer 100m WR. Happy company; happy fans.
There won’t be any „Oyster“-bracelet similar to existing ones, but Hamilton could offer a good looking bracelet as an option you have to pay for (+ 100-150). If the chronograph comes to the market it will be delivered with a leather/tissue/Nato-strap. Maybe both... And 1500 are in my opinion not feasible, that’s simply not enough to realize such a watch. Add another 1000 ... All the other wishes you have are pretty realistic...
@@WatchAdvisor I think it could be done for around 2000USD. If they take the H-31 caliber from the modern Intra-Matic Auto Chrono, delete the date complication and remove the rotorworks, they would have a watch that would easily meet Lliam's requests. Less the date complication and automatic winding it could be priced at or below the Intra-Matic which is listed at 2195USD today. Stick a $2k price tag on that watch and I'm sold...right after I finish saving up for my Intra-Matic.
Put the broad arrow back on the dial where it belongs. The W10 has always been mechanical, or quartz. Indicating that the movement is mechanical on the dial is a nonsense. None of the changes made to the dial are an improvement. The W10 wasn't broken; but you fixed it anyway. I do appreciate the movement update. That was a brilliant move, slowing down the beat in order to achieve an 80 hour power reserve. And, increasing the WR to 100M was a brilliant move. But why didn't you implement a screw down back?
@@WatchAdvisor I think it was said that the Queen controlled legally the arrow trademark on the older Hamilton. The Queen sadly has passed, and so Charles now takes the reigns.
@@WatchAdvisor No. Not at all! I actually just got the 40mm Khaki Navy small dial. So far I love the look of it. It won't be the only watch I buy. I'm convinced of that. No more the rest of the year though!
Do you think this watch would be suitable for regular ocean use? I'm a surfer and I've been looking for a simple, clean, highly legible and durable watch. All the divers I've seen are just too complicated for me. There's just something about pilots watches that I love but because of my sport, I'm too afraid to trust them in the ocean 3 days a week
Honest question, why is it that this particular watch is the the only watch (to my knowledge) that is measured differently? This watch is 36mm with a lug to lug of 41mm. I think that measuring between the lugs is odd, and a disservice to Hamilton sales dept. People who dont know its true specs will be turned off by the 33mm (between the lugs) measurement.
WatchAdvisor it’s actually listed at $895 for the Hamilton khaki pioneer on the leather nato. I feel the watch is a bit expensive considering their khaki field mechanical is listed $300 lower with an equal movement.
Dr Incognito I hear you! This one plays in another league due to transcribing the look of the “W10” in the year 2019... please compare both watches, then you will understand me...
This is due to the box shape! Producing a box shaped sapphire glas is very expensive and in daily use it does make a big difference since the mineral glas is extra hardened. On top the Sapphire glas very often is bulky ... would not look good - believe me!
WatchAdvisor I’ve worn this watch for about two months now, the clarity of the Crystal is astounding, it’s like there’s nothing there. And no scratches yet so hopefully it stays that way
I am sorry, but I do not agree with you regarding the swatch group. I had a hamilton khaki mechanical which I purchased new from an AD. The watch had a defect which I showed the AD. They agreed and sent it back to Swatch for repairs. Swatch declined the warranty and later reverted requesting to share the cost. So sorry but I won't buy from a company that says they warranty their products and then look for ways to avoid honouring the warranty. I sold the watch
This is a one-sided statement... I read this kind of thing again and again.... but we don't know the real background or the reason why the watch wasn't repaired free of charge... who knows what really happened....
@@WatchAdvisor You are perfectly entitled to your opinion and your dismissal of me like swatch did. It does not matter. I know what happened and the AD knows what happened. Anyway, swatch group is a large group and one disappointed customer will not bother them, nor be any cause for concern. I sold the watch and am happy with my replacement purchase. Thank you.
@@redzuan6425 I only have the chance to hear your story… please accept that I “question” a few things… Already the “old” Romans said: Audiatur et altera pars…
@@WatchAdvisor lmao you are such a hypocritic buffooon... if you really cared about the truth you would ask for more details and also ask the company since you have contacts there. unsubscribed and will never buy from them.
The choice to not use a sapphire glas was not made to safe money and ask you more for the watch, but due to design reasons. A box-shaped sapphire does not look good since it is much too bulky ... This decision is not a flaw!
To me if it doesn't have a GMT complication... it's just not a pilot's watch. It's just an ordinary watch. Breitling and IWC keep making this mistake over and over again. Rolex doesn't.
@@Joe-xo3xy I'll explain. First of all yes of course fliegers are pilot's watches - GMT movements simply didn't exist back then. It wasn't until 1955 the first GMT Master was created [Hans Wilsdorf, Rolex]. So in my opinion, from 1955 onward GMT should have been incorporated into all of them, period.
YE TH Yes, I said! This was before everyone - even man - again wanting to wear these sizes... There is a demand and I adapted my communication a little 😉
Loses a lot of its appeal by removing the broad arrow symbol. Other brands use it on their watches so it's not impossible. Sounds like they just didn't want to go through the effort of getting the rights to use it.
Maybe they should have done this ... maybe they just respected the fact that Swatch Group sister company Omega presented its new James Bond Seamaster with the Broad Arrow ... 😉
Maybe not. I like the exceptionality of watches with broad arrow. Having this insignia meant that the equipment was service issued and not for commercial purposes. In my opinion, buying the rights of the symbol and slapping it on a product diminishes its historical significance. Anyway, keep up the good work WatchAdvisor!
The arrow is earned leave it to the ones who deserve it. This watch was given free to the men in-service. To add the arrow then sell it commercial than makes no sense at all.
“Below 40mm” doesn’t mean shrink it by 4mm!!! Yes, 40mm is too big, but 36mm is too small! I’m always amazed how manufacturers continue to make this basic mistake. 1mm difference is a huge change for case diameter. 37-38mm would have been great. My money will, stay in my pocket.
This is my 2nd 36mm watch. I’ll most likely only buy 36-37 with 45 max lug to lug. It’s a shame because my Damasko doesn’t get much wrist time anymore. It is 39mm and 47mm. Great watch but seems so big. And I have a muscular build with larger wrists to. If Connery can rock the tiny sub in 007 men today can too. My daily is the 36mm MSAR marathon auto. Great watch, recommend.

Justin Serda Well, let us see how the cookie crumbles... 😉
WatchAdvisor if I’m right will you buy me one? Hahah PLEEEASe
Justin Serda I wish HAMILTON could deliver the watch for such a price, but I am not really convinced they can...
Twist their arm and get them to build that chronograph !!!
That's what I did and the watch is in the pipeline. As soon Hamilton gets that chronograph calibre from ETA the watch will be made...
Love it
Omega was able to put the arrow on the dial for the new Bond Seamaster. I guess they were able to "negotiate".
Yes, it’s part of the “James Bond Commander” deal ...
Now Charles controls this “arrow.” He won’t let Andrew anywhere near that arrow.
Interesting! Who is who? Can you please specify?
@@WatchAdvisor I think it was said that the Queen controlled legally the arrow trademark on the older Hamilton.
The Queen sadly has passed, and so Charles now takes the reigns.
Thanks for clarifying! Now I understand… 😉
Right-sized...smart move, Hamilton!
Size matters! In this case the small size... Very true!
Wow, cool watch for that price.
Quite an offer in fact. And don’t forget the brand HAMILTON, founded in 1892, is not a no-name...
I have my eye on the Khaki Navy Pioneer Auto now.
Do I need to be sorry John? If it stresses your credit card then it was my fault...
@@WatchAdvisor No. Not at all! I actually just got the 40mm Khaki Navy small dial. So far I love the look of it. It won't be the only watch I buy. I'm convinced of that. No more the rest of the year though!
John Manley I hear you! It’s good to read that you have that passion for watches ! Welcome to the club!
@@WatchAdvisor It's definitely an addiction. I feel somewhat guilty to say that I was checking out other watches even as I was about to buy this one 😂
John Manley I know! There is only one thing we can do: Buy more watches... 😉
Yes! Please read the description of the video... the watch is waterproof 100 meters... with the appropriate strap this Hamilton is ready for the Ocean
Good point! Of course the Khaki Pilot is not as small as it might appear due to the 33 mm ....
should i take this one or new khaki field mechanical with sapphire
Fandi Hidayat I hear you...
@@WatchAdvisor then what is the answer?
Fandi Hidayat This one! No doubt!!
WatchAdvisor please review the khaki field mechanical the original one and the reissue too sir
Fandi Hidayat I cant do this immediately, I don’t have the watches and the time. But I will continue doing reviews, also with HAMILTON, very soon
Thank you for doing this in English so I can understand 😅
All the content here is in English... So you will be able to discover all our other videos. They have been viewed 4,427,680 times until today...
Love the look of that hammy cushion case but $800! Damn! Chrono is stunning as well.
What you mean? 800? Don’t you think this is value for money?
WatchAdvisor it’s actually listed at $895 for the Hamilton khaki pioneer on the leather nato. I feel the watch is a bit expensive considering their khaki field mechanical is listed $300 lower with an equal movement.
Dr Incognito I hear you! This one plays in another league due to transcribing the look of the “W10” in the year 2019... please compare both watches, then you will understand me...
super model below 40mm! thx for the story with the prince Harry, it was a pulsar G10, not a Hamilton I think
Thanks for your feedback! I don't know either... What I know is that William, his brother, is wearing an Omega Seamaster ...
❤️
Hamilton, please make that chronograph! Do not make it bigger......don't deviate at all from that design.
I will pass the feedback to the team of Hamilton… it is always good to remind them … 😉
All is good except for the mineral crystal. Why not sapphire? :(
This is due to the box shape!
And no scratches yet so hopefully it stays that way
How big is this guy’s watch collection.
I don’t know 🤷🏼♂️
the left just WOW!!!
The chronograph will be available as a re-edition in about a year ...
Worth considering the CWC version in both quartz and mechanical with the Military markings including the pheon arrow and back cover military markings
I would strongly recommend to compare a CWC to Hamilton... you will understand me once you’ve done it ... only then you know what to buy ...
W10 Means it was issued to the British Army.
Thanks for letting us know!
Why plexiglass and not Zaffiro on a so exposed glass ....
Nice but overpriced especially w/o sapphire
The choice to not use a sapphire glas was not made to safe money and ask you more for the watch, but due to design reasons. A box-shaped sapphire does not look good since it is much too bulky ... This decision is not a flaw!
I understand this very well mister thank you
@@WatchAdvisor why not acrylic ?
Scorpion Would have been an option indeed!
I like Marathon GPM ......
Didn't know this one!
To me if it doesn't have a GMT complication... it's just not a pilot's watch. It's just an ordinary watch.
Breitling and IWC keep making this mistake over and over again. Rolex doesn't.
Right... So fliegers are also not pilot watches then?
@@Joe-xo3xy I'll explain. First of all yes of course fliegers are pilot's watches - GMT movements simply didn't exist back then. It wasn't until 1955 the first GMT Master was created [Hans Wilsdorf, Rolex]. So in my opinion, from 1955 onward GMT should have been incorporated into all of them, period.
Watch Advisor, please advise Hamilton to make a 38mm or 40mm version of this watch.
Everybody is seeking for smaller sizes... Read the hundreds of comments on our channel... Now you want the watch to be bigger... Why?
@@WatchAdvisor In your Rado Captian Cook video, you said 37mm is a big watch in 1962 but today it is a nice watch for women.
Lots of others were very happy about exactly that size… Tastes are different! 🤷🏻♂️
@@WatchAdvisor So true! It would just be great if some of the tastes drove the development of a 38mm watch! Thanks for your review and video!
@@smarley678 Of course! I hear you! I am as well not into so small watches… prefer bigger sizes, got used to them after the last decades…
Hamilton already has a full line of Khaki Field in 38mm, this 36mm makes perfect sense.
Crap introduction. Dolla isn't even a real name.
