    Watch this at 0.75x. I just bought this today. You have to see it in person. It’s a beautiful thing. A true reissue of the original 1970’s one. Don’t be put off by “faux”. It really doesn’t scream faux anything. It’s just not bright green. In person it just looks a little muted and it matches the dial. I have 6” wrists and it wears perfectly. It makes the normal Khaki Field look cheap.

    Mine is beautiful! Great for us small wristy guys?!?!;) this case was designed by Ray Mellor who left Hamilton to form CWC a company made just to supply the Brittish MOD with timepieces for the armed forces! Go check out the Mellor 72 . The Hammy is more of a dressier piece because of the textured dial , patina lume and the fact it hasn’t got fixed spring bars. The Mellor 72 looks like a watch you bought at the time they made it!!!;) check out the reviews anyway I enjoyed it;)

    This is my favorite watch. I would't say this is a "small" watch for "small wrists", tho. Generally speaking 36mm is just fine for 6-7 inch +wrist folks which are just about 90% of the fellas out there. Think of Casio 158A (35mm), and that just fits great for almost anyone. This watch ain't too small for me and I'm 6'2" 230 lb and have 7.25 inch wrist.
    Is it a little bit overpriced by like 100$ to 150$? Kinda yes. But I think it is still a helluva BEAUTIFUL timepiece.

      Did the same. It was a bit of a shocker initially, but your eyes and understanding adjusts. In normal wear with a long sleeve shirt, it looks fine. Compared to the 44 I’ve regularly worn, it’s light and jewel like. When warmer weather comes and I’m rolling up my sleeves, I might not wear it as much, but that’s fine.

    • @Quicksilver_Cookie
      @Quicksilver_Cookie ปีที่แล้ว

      Weirdly enough hesalite/acrylic is even clearer. People think plastic would be more..."milky", but it's the opposite. New properly polished hesalite crystal looks as if it's not even there. One of the advantages of acrylic crystals. Shame it becomes extinct on watches outside of affordable range. It has more advantages than people think. In fact the only advantage of sapphire I can think of is that it doesn't scratch easily. Which seems to be the only thing people worry about in a luxury watch. But hesalite is actually better for protecting the movement and dial of the watch, doesn't shatter, more impact resistant, clearer, can be polished multiple times quite easily. Also, hesalite is extremely non-reflective. So, no need for an anti-glare measures. It's also why it's so clear.

  • @deedee8568
    @deedee8568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    No doubt about the quality of the finish and the aesthetics. Hard not to double-take the crystal and the provision of a good quality, but uninspiring, strap, for that price. I would rather sapphire, acrylic and mineral, in that order.

    Thanks!

    Thank you teddy for letting me know bout this one I've had if for a year and it's an amazing little piece. Now from my personal experience perhaps due to the shape of the case it feels like a 38 mm watch at least to me, it never feels too small and it has character.
    My only complaint is when I pull the crown sometimes it feels as if there's a first position that doesn't engage the hands so they won't respond to me trying to set time, it's a bit fiddly I have to push it in and out "that's what she said" till I the hands respond.
    Don't know if this is normal or I have a kind of a lemon.

    It is a sharp looking watch, used to own one, but have found the timefactors "Smiths" Navigator a more flexible variation of pilot watch, it's polished bezel is easier to dress up than this. Legibility wise, the mineral is outstanding.

    No a criticism (because I am afraid some will take it so) but a question whether Teddy is only going to review watch brands he is an authorized dealer for from now on? Not that some of these watches aren't great but I was curious if there will be limitations on what brands will be reviewed? Will it also limit any potential criticisms? I.e. will these be more presentations of watches as opposed to reviews?
    Again not a criticism, others do this as well. I know Mark from Long Island Watch only talks about his Islander Line and occassionally other brands he sells, Frederico is another who focuses primarily on what they have in stock to sell. I am sure there are many others as well.

    Its a little funny that Hamilton would market this as a pilots watch because of its small size. Traditionally what makes a pilots what is its largeness. This is more of a field watch in my eyes but maybe they're trying to differential the lines. Really tho, love the case shape - reminiscent of the semi-hooded lug like those in the 70s.

    • @kutter_ttl6786
      @kutter_ttl6786 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's advertised as a pilot watch because of its history. Teddy already mentioned it was for the British MOD but specifically it was designed for the RAF. Compared to modern pilot watches it's definitely small but the fact it was issued to RAF pilots does give it that pedigree.

    Have it, love it. It hugs my 6.5 inch wrist like no other. Love the tonneau case. The rough texture dial, though, is imperceptible and flat at eye level, that's how subtle it is in real life. Little disappointing tbh. But a great everyday watch, that brings something different. Out of all the watches I own, this one is the most accurate. I own double more expensive Longines and Oris, and this one is noticeably more accurate. Winding it every 3 days or so, feels soooooooooo good, the clicking sound is very satisfying. Difficult to explain, but it's like an old fashion fidget spinner. Big bang for buck, even if its not as cheap as the other khakis....but worth every penny.

    • @ichris2011
      @ichris2011 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it might be almost like a “risk tax”. I’ve noticed this in other brands when they make something that is super faithful to an old design or a very niche piece in general. They’ll price it higher to make it a more worthwhile investment for them as they don’t anticipate selling that many. I’d imagine from a purely on paper sales perspective (which is what a marketing department deals in) a 36mm watch is less of a prospective hit than a 38-42mm so that might have something to do with it.

    This is a gorgeous watch. I'm not sure I understand Hamilton's choice of a mineral crystal with all the nice "boxed" sapphire crystals that are being used. With that said, why does Hamilton leave off anti-reflective coatings on so many of their field style watches? My most worn timepiece over the last 8 years has been a (hard to find) 40mm hand wind Khaki Field Mechanical. I absolutely love the watch but the lack of an anti-reflective coating drives me crazy sometimes. How much would this feature cost Hamilton...a few extra dollars? I would even gladly pay a little more for this. As usual, fantastic review Teddy.

    I really like this one but just seems a little pricey. Without sapphire crystal, the price doesn't seem to be justified in my opinion.

    Teddy, you need to relax a little bit, I would say. You are talking in this video twice as fast as an average human being. The entire message gets lost when you fire like a machine gun. Otherwise, thanks for one more video on a great watch and also thanks for your fantastic macro shots!

      Thanks for the feedback. I tend to talk fast in general but I think the nature of cutting some of the pauses in the audio especially does not help either. I will work on it. Thanks for watching!

    Hamilton modifying the movement like that across their line; is almost a deal killer. Few private watch makers are going to be set up to regulate them. And, if they are; they are going to hit you heavy.

    Enjoy the field watch reviews. Would like to see a review of the Momentum Atlas 38mm. Titanium case, sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, Seiko VX32G quartz movement for under $200. Thanks

    Too small and this is coming from somebody who is completely wrist size conscious. I have tiny wrist's however this Hamilton could have been so much more if it was 38 instead of 36. In turn it would have had a wider lug width making for a more eye catching watch. It is a good watch that could have been a very, very good watch.

      Not every watch has to be 38, it’s compactness is what makes it unique. Plus it’s a historical homage to the W10 which was a little watch. Plenty of options for 38mm Hamilton, I’m glad to see some added variety here.
