I didn't check how old this video was and was a little shocked to see the original Deer Park station. The new one is so much better!

The time is coming when this line requires upgrading. The section to Wyndham Vale needs to be electrified and added to the Metro network, with through trains to Geelong/Waurn Ponds using avoiding lines through Deer Park, Tarneit and Wyndham Vale. These outer western suburbs are overstretching V/Line capacity. The growth in passenger numbers to and from Geelong district requires faster, longer trains, with more expresses.
As there are already 50+ trains in each direction each day, consideration needs to be given to rerouting some back to the original line through Werribee. These would also restore the valuable Metro and bus interchange at North Melbourne.
Thanks for this; you're right - the Vlocitys are good trains. And yes, it IS handy to shave on the way!

$10 is more than enough for this trip.

Josh I love what you are doing, bringing the charming simplicity of travel be it short or long to our attention. Airline travel is now so stressful that I dread going to the airport. Train travel for most is about commuting and comes with its own form of stress. However train travel as you are showing it, is the antithesis of both those and I experience what you appear to have, a quiet satisfaction from covering the kilometres while enjoying the simple pleasures of the scenery passing. You step off a train into the heart of any city relaxed and ready to enjoy it. Thank you for sharing.

Those power plugs are for the cleaners and not passengers.

These VLocity trains do like similar to Transport for Wales Class 175 Coradia and Class 180 Adelantes used on Grand Central and East Midlands Railway. But they do look really nice trains.

Josh, they are toilets, not bathrooms. We don't need these silly American euphemisms in Australia.
