I love greyhounds I love greyhound racing but it needs to take more care for the dogs that aren't so good.
They makes awesome family dogs.
The dogs that aren't so good get retired and go into adoption to find their forever homes.

I love to see greyhounds racing. They really seem to love it. Would like to see other sighthounds racing such as borzoi, afghan, whippet, etc.

I own a rescue greyhound, he was a rescue from an abusive owner, but I must say that not all the racers are bad. Some do it for sport, no money included and the greyhounds enjoy it and have a great bond with the owner.
I've owned 3 ex-racing dogs. The first one had a torn shoulder muscles and only lived to be 7 years old. The second one I got very young at the age of 2. Three broken bones in the front leg and so traumatized he would not even stay in the same room with me. He peed himself if I got too close. And the third one broke both the tibia and fibula in his hind leg still finished the race and was used as a breeding dog. They never tended to the broken bones and the back leg is twisted now. He came to me covered in ticks and full of worms. Took a while, but they are doing great now. The younger one now enjoys cuddle times and the older one with the twisted leg doesn't any longer try to kill everything that moves ...including humans.

Absolutely! Flyball racing has its own unique thrill, and watching dogs in action is always exhilarating. It's fascinating how different dog sports can offer such diverse but equally exciting experiences!

Dogs don't perceive races the way humans do. While they may enjoy running together, their motivation is often play and exercise, not a competitive awareness of racing.

Dogs that are put over hurdles are both too slow on the flat and are very very ungenuine.The home of Greyhound racing is without doubt Ireland and dogs that are too slow or ungenuine are given to England.Example,few years back I gave a bitch away free to Sunderland because she was so slow she couldn't reach qualifying time in Ireland but she won 22 races at Sunderland without reaching qualifying time in Ireland.
Same with horses. Many poor quality irish horses are stunning on poorer european tracks ☺️ they get a 2nd chance for sure

@@JerseyGroovyFilms w Polsce jest bardzo mało wrecz jednostki. A jak są to malowiarygodne. Falszuja rodowody itd. Potrzebowałbym psa wycofanego z toru który został wyofany z jakiś powodów. A nadający się do pokrycia mojej suni. Ona jest bez rodowodu. Bardzo szybka i wytrzymała kondycyjnie. Pomóż prosze jeśli możesz. Dziękuję.

Lots of animals die for human entertainment. This may not be the case here, but a lot of greyhounds can fall over the obstacle as well as, for example, in horse obstacle races and get injured. Such dogs will no longer be allowed on the track and so they would rather kill them ... 😰😭
It's a shame really. They don't even need to fall. Each year thousands of young healthy dogs are killed just because they are not fast enough. Did you know that the breed is physically and mentally mature at around 3 years of age? Yet they have to run their first races at 18 months old. For many, the first race is the last race. Those few dogs who are lucky to get out of the racing industry are mentally or physically scarred. And they are so gentle and loving and absolutely lazy

@@market1040 It's so sad. I currently have two ex-racing dogs. Both have mental and physical scars. Especially the younger one was a lot of work to get a happy puppy. The older one was aggressive and is left with a twisted hind leg because the previous owner neglected to mend the broken bones.
@@MairiVoorhees That is such bull crap. Thousands of greyhounds are not killed. If that was even remotely true, there would be none to adopt or to breed. Every NGA American racing greyhound is strictly regulated and accounted for from birth until they are retired. Once they are retired, the owners take them home or they go to farms for breeding or they go to adoption groups to get adopted. None are killed. Greyhounds are neither mentally or physically scarred. They absolutely love to race. They get the best care and love. This is why they make the best family pets, not in spite of it. Try learning the truth.

How come that my exracer had a bad fracture they never treated. Try google my friend. " Greyhound cruelty" should bring you some decent reports on the matter. The dogs are killed and abused. They are both physically and mentally scarred. I have had a lot of dogs from the industry. Try explaining why some dogs are so scared of human interaction that they pee themselves?? They do not love to race, they love to hunt. And having a dog sit in a small kennel with only paper to lay on is not what I would call good care. Go visit some kennels and/or rescue organisations in England, Scotland and Ireland and open your eyes

@Marion Lyford Greyhounds are loved and played with every single day. They are never ignored. Their handlers are with them every day, 365 days a year for about 14 hours a day. How long do you spend with your dog? If you don't know the truth, stop telling lies.
