What is The Isle?
The Isle is the current top dog in terms of dinosaur survival games, its one of the biggest ones by far. With a whole host of dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts on its Legacy branch.
The game is going through a total rework with its Evirma Update, an update that will change the whole dynamic of the game.

I don't think the devs understand that dinosaurs have eyes on the side of their head for a reason, its to give them almost a 180 view to survive and with the eating and drinking camera lock already, i don't think the new camera system is needed or even realistic.
Specifically herbivores, carnivores always have their eyes at the front of their heads and tbh they should just add a first person feature where people can choose wether they want the death wish view or the orbital view

@@RandomMackem0069Most carnivores still don’t have full-on human-level binocular vision. If you look at most carnivorous dinosaur skulls (T. rex is the exception), they still have somewhat sideways facing eyes, having close to 180 degree vision. Herbivores, on the other hand, have almost 360 degree vision….

I honestly couldn't care less I just started playing the game so I was never spoiled by some previous system and I gotta say the nerve wracking experience of eating and drinking is awesome. makes the game scary. as it should be your literally playing as an animal and you CAN see side to side you just cant see directly behind you
The camera changes bring more negatives than positives.
The positives are few. More realistic, more blind spots, able to look up without the dino's body blocking your view.
But the negatives are numerous and very severe.
- Alt-attacks become very difficult to use if not impossible.
- Animals using tail attacks will become non-viable.
- Ptera gameplay will be made impossible.
- Animals relying on dodging and quick movements would become non-viable (like dryo).
- Skin system becomes a joke because you cannot even see your animal.
- What is the point of the quality of animation, skins, and shading if the player cannot even see it.
- People with motion sickness might get hit hard by this.
I feel it should be server setting IF the devs decide they want to create this new system. Allow community servers to make the choice between the 2 camera options.

The new camera system is probably the only time Ive ever seen the community united and not divided. There are maybe ten people, max, ive seen who are in favor of it, a few who want to wait and see, and an overwhelming majority (myself included) who think its an awful choice for the game.

No change, it was always just an experimental concept, people just heard about it and went mad spreading it like fire, didn't even bother to find out if it was actually coming, there will be some camera changes in future but Not the ones shown in the stream @@VelocciYT

It makes sneaking up to get close to prey before pursuing them an actually viable option, and considering the isle is more focused on realism, it was the right choice. It's a shame it was reverted.

@@RandomMackem0069 oh no, don't you know They were always planning to not make it. It was all just them conceptualizing. They weren't planning it for real... Now I've seen screens that the new raptor camera is finished and looks and feels great sooo who knows what the heck they're saying anymore.

So it was mentioned that the camera changes are not being implemented. It was later mentioned in Dondi’s stream, I am wondering if Dondi likes to speak his mind but doesn’t always set it in stone. He does have a lot of hours of work almost every day of evaluation for his game with streams. I know a lot of people have been upset, but I am continuing to be patient as no other game offers this kind of unique play style for a dinosaur game, and I still hope for evrima to unveil an experience we can all enjoy.

Damn, are yall new players or something? I don't know how you can still have so much hope this far into playing this game. I've been here since 2017 and I've only gotten more and more disappointed. Everything started getting bad after evrima was first announced
I have over 4k hours of playing both versions of Legacy and Evrima. its a playstyle I have always enjoyed regardless of what others have said. I also like to help those that are learning the game for the first time and showing them how to play and then let them figure out their own playstyle. The way you play or want something to show up or be implemented in the game I guess doesn't fit your playstyle or your patience is wearing thin for waiting on upcoming updates. But the way I see it If i didn't like this game i wouldn't be commenting or showing interest. But if this game is creating that much stress for you, maybe its time to find something new.
As only a viewer and not a player, I’m sorry but i never EVER see anyone… talk about how gloriously smooth, diverse and excellent the dinos’s motions are these days. It’s just nearly unrivaled. I just felt the need to state how much i love that fluidity

Some things about the Camera System not mentioned in the Devblog
1. They are playing with the idea of changing the Camera
2. It is a Very early Prototype so don't expect it to look like this much later on
3. What we were shown on stream was NOT the actual system, those were more of guidelines for when someone starts toying with the camera system
4. The Devs said they might make Community servers have the option to enable/disable it

Just wanted to clear this up.
People will completely ignore this and continue to flame them. I'm trying as an individual to calm people down but it's difficult because the majority does not want to see reason or does not want to get educated on how game dev works. If this continues and the community continues to backlash this way it may be the very community itself that spells the end for this game. We need to remember that the devs are people too and they can only take so much BS for so long. And frankly they have been dealing with it for a long, long time. Veyr undeservingly if I must say so myself.

I want to see the game they said they wanted completed. This kind of behavior people keep inciting is just going to cause the game to collapse in on itself.

I love how Path of Titans news are just like: One of the biggest updates, 40 balance changes, 3 new dinosaurs, 73 new moded dinos, 7 new maps.
Then T.I news are all: "They shown an animation for the rex (haven't posted none in years)" "They released two new concept arts" "They shown a model (not painted)" or this one which is literally "they published the biggest devblog"
They'd definitively be better at being politcians and promising things that ain't gonna happen than being developers of a game.

@@keekz6023 personally I havent had any problem finding space in a server. Just directly after an update its hard to get on. Besides that its relatively chill
@@SirSilk77 The more populated ones are actually pretty hard to get on at the times I have to play and without Ai functioning properly right now it's a lot less fun on an emptier server.
I'm pretty sure this would be the best devblog so far if it weren't for the god F@#$in awful camera devamp that no one wanted.

All of this sounds great (if you exclude the camera system), hopefully they'll actually be able to implement these promptly as we've been talking about the trike and maia for a while now

I dont know why they are still even bothering with humans or cannibals. They have been in the works for how long now? And I dont think ive ever met anyone that was excited for that content. Its like totally ignoring what the playerbase actually want imo.
Ever since Gateway, i cannot play.. Even the slightest turn with the camera freezes my screen. And now they releasing trike soon. My favorite dinosaur!! So sad!😭🥺💔
Maybe someone should suggest "dino vision" based on the niche in the thing and what we know where it literally gives direct first person view in the eyes with filters or things to mimic the vision.
For example pterosaurs would have relatively clear vision but likely could see above them a bit and also their beak, while something small with large eyes probably has almost 360° vision like a pigeon or rat but has a filter like red green color blindness
Now we wait 5 more years for any of this to be put into the game
im not excited for the new camera system, because the 3rd person gives enough space to actually see the dinosaur and move around correctly. it also gives more stability to the camera because its more far, immagine having the camera THAT close while being a beipi for example, the motion sickness will give me an headache that strong that i'll die by just spawning probably.
I took an oath to never play a game where you collect flowers to grow, but if they add those camera changes then I’m never playing it again
the new camera system will completely kill the game, period. The good thing is that it'll remove the doubts on when things will be done. It is such a stupid idea and decision that one is fully entitled to think that it is a deliberate attempt to kill the game on purpose

I think actually knowing where a player is looking will be incredibly valuable for ambush predators. We've seen how camera locking can help with this while drinking and eating, and while it's not the greatest feeling, it'll ultimately benefit the experience by creating more vulnerabilities. That being said, execution is everything here. If it's too hard to look around as a dino it'll undoubtedly take away from the experience a good bit.

Fortunately, it seems like they've shelved that awful camera idea. I love everything else they have planned! I'm hoping they'll be able to drop at least four dinos over the summer, but for now, I'm excited about dibble.

Why do they keep working on things that less than 5% of the playerbase cares about. Like what dinosaur is going to be chasing crabs and rats and isects for food? They really think people like to play dinosaurs smaller than a utah raptor? Also why make the camera even worse than it had already been made? A few years ago the game got pushed forward a bit and felt claustrophobic, and now they want to go even further? These devs are hopeless

i am not happy about the third person cameras being so tight together.
I will wait on camera until I play around with it, but the MAIN ISSUES isn't eh camera it is the smaller dinos can't see shit anywhere cause tall foliage is in our faces all the damn time. They need to phase these things out as you walk through them within a certain distance so we can see where the crap we ar ewalking.

Imo, the isle is pretty amazing game, but the only things that’s holding it back is because of some of its crappy updates (for instance, the new camera update) but it does look a little bit better than PoT (pls don’t attack me ;-;)

Camera is really shitty idea, more than half of my kills are made by waiting for good ambush when others wont expect it, crocs are exists too, literally making drinking water very scary process. Dilos are in game now with good night visions, making them using disadvantage of poor visions of other dinos, etc, etc, etc. That just... Out of place?

This game doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Hardcore Survival? Arena PvP? Dino Sim?
It feels like Arena PvP with tedious survival "Features" and it's willing to throw fun out for those. At this point I really feel like this game needs more content in terms of roster and to focus on the game actually being fun and enjoyable. This dang title is in developmental hell. I really hope it comes out on top because their animation and modelling team are top notch.

Don't really like the "it will be a server option response". Sure server options are good, but if 90 percent of community doesn't want the new camera, and they are still gonna put it on officials that is still bad.
I just bought the game 7/10 days ago, I have 6 hours and I dont know anything abou the isle :)
Might as well add manual breathing, separate controls for each limb, manual blinking, pooping, peeing, and growth time being actual irl years. (The Isle devs if you are reading this it's a joke I know you want to take this seriously but don't you've ruined your own game like a fool enough).

They need to pump out dinos and get rid of the nutrition system that forces people to go where they want you to go. Get Apex dinos out and put ai dinos for food sources all over the map and for God sake bring back the other map as well.

Super high potential is such a good depiction of great design. People like Soviet Womble use it as a show of an original take on survival, on potential, on a living world based on the players.

Wait 3+ months for 1 dino that's fun for like... a week, then don't play it for another 2 months and 2-3 weeks because it's either getting bodied by the big 3 or becoming one of the big 3.
Why? Because there's no gameplay. The gameplay is.

Fight
Win till you don't

That kind of gameplay cycle isn't driving enough to retain players. It gets boring. Quick. Which is why so many youtubers CAN'T be dedicated solely to this game. There's just not enough content.

I have 2500h on isle envrima i played since 2 yeara ago and i got to admit game is just going down i tried playing new map but i fell like its too big and has nothing to it no ai spawns and it just looks like shit game was in best state when old utah was there but after that game got fucked i tried playing path of titans and i fell like its like 10 times better rn if ur an og of isle try the game u might be suprised its different and i respect that ofc the fighting is not as amazing but having quests to do chaning skins and just trying different attack combos fell amazing and also the map is good it has many good places and they are memorisable just like center was in old map utah rock... Give it a try it might suprise you

The new camera is an awful choice for the game if they don't give the option to switch between cameras. First person games give me such horrible migraines to the point of being unplayable, so I suppose I'll be done with the isle. Also, like others said, what's the point of cool skins, nice animations, and tail attacks if you can't even see your dino??

They've already back tracked and said it will now be an option for community servers. But honestly I think you're right. That it will cause so much motion sickness and frustration that they'll have to seriously adjust or outright revert it.

New camera system is a complete waste of time. nobody ever complained about the current system if its not broke don't fix it. Nobody asked for it nobody wants it except that hippy in charge.
The reactions to the camera changes will be interesting. However: Adding too much realism (or attempting to in this case) ruins the fun of games for many, especially if the changes are forced upon the players instead of giving them the option to choose.
It was never confirmed. It was only suggested and used as a beginning prototype to explore the opportunities. Never was it explicitly stated that THE camera system they showed was going to be implemented. They only said that some type of camera change will be happening, they just aren't sure what yet. With this information, you as a developer as well now know what's actually happening. If you did not hear, there is an explosion of drama in response to such changes. The community has already vocally expressed how "horrible of a change it is", when the change was neither confirmed or explicitly stated that what they saw would be what is implemented. They said it themselves multiple times as well but it continues to be ignored, and people are only listening to the parts they want to hear, particularly the parts that incite mob behavior, which effectively is what is happening at the moment.
They can add as many dinosaurs or fancy mechanichs as they want, but im still not playing the game untill it fixes it's boring ass map and gameplay.
There is no Future, the game will not launch out of early access.
the only reason this game is fun is because of the variety of dinosaurs, it would defeat the purpose to take away from the main experience that everyone has adapted to. the camera change is one of the worst decisions ever made and decisions like this destroyed legacy, this game WILL die.
