      Love this idea you came up with. It sent me down the rabbit hole of awful album covers. There's one I stumbled across of a chubby dude, naked, stuffed inside the open end of a box. Have you ever considered doing a top 20 of Outsider Music, god awful music that you dig cuz it's so hilariously awful. That would be just as entertaining.

    That Bad Company album, Desolation Angels, is the album from which the single Rock & Roll Fantasy was issued. The artwork was by Hipgnosis, who did many for Pink Floyd, including Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, plus they did covers for Wings, 10cc and The Scorpions, plus many others too numerous to mention.

    Mrs. Miller was actually on the old Merv Griffin show in the 1960s...she was an old lady who was just always there, and one day someone had the bright ides to ask her to make an album...she said okay and she ended up making several.

  • @elc1960

    Mrs. Mills looked like just about any old lady you'd see on any given church or senior center's bingo night, but actually she put out several albums in the UK.

    At 5:00, whoever named a record company "Cacophonic" must have had a sense of humor. Maybe "cacophony" isn't always a negative word, but it often is.

    One of the members of The Believers on their "We Believe" album cover sure looks a lot like Roy Orbison with his glasses, smile, and hairstyle.

    That Prince album was Lovesexy. It was the album that caused his popularity to slip, big time, just based on the cover art alone. Shortly afterwards he changed his name to a symbol and they started referring to him as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" to attract attention to himself.

    • @someguy7424
      @someguy7424 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frankly, the album itself wasn’t that good (my least favorite Prince album of the 80s), but the cover damn sure didn’t help.

      On the Metro in Madrid, we had 12'x 8' billboards of That very album-cover! (Well, it *was*the permissive eighties)

    • @shiroibasketshoes
      @shiroibasketshoes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it was four years after when he became the symbol and he had more hit albums in between "Lovesexy" and that. Another factor that sabotaged "Lovesexy" success was people thinking like "But I wanted to hear The Black Album; I bet it was funkier."

    Loved the commentary throughout this series! Many interesting album covers for sure, and many....interesting ones, too. But oh my gosh, so many generic ones that looked like they could be randomly picked out of someone's photo album 🤣 definitely some funny names though, some even highly suspect like 'The London Trio' 🤔
    Also, I would just like to add that recently I finally received the 'Heaven Forbid' cd album of BOC (as well as the other albums I had to get separately from the Colombia Albums collection) and the date I received it was actually really close to the date of an earlier video of this series where you commented on its album cover! 😆 I think just a few days before the video released as well actually, it's like you knew I picked it up! I actually like it though, campy as it looks...Definitely unique, and definitely BOC-like to me (kinda reminiscent of Cultosaurus Erectus in a way too actually)

    As usual, this was pretty funny and I agree with you that Pulling Rabbits it a great cover! I had Mad Dog as well (I think it was a blurry shot of one of John's not very scary dogs, so they tried to make him look scary). Mrs. Miller was wonderful, though a greatest hits album of hers would do me just fine...I have a friend who has I think four of her records. Gibby Hanes and The Butthole Surfers always have gross covers, though I like some of his/their records.
    I thought of two you can look up for next time...the band Pigeon, and the band Sand. I thought they should open a sandwich shop together.

    Hello CSM! Yes, Rare Earth is great and “Ma” was that album title. I love the Ray Manzarek first solo albums starting with The Golden Scarab; I bought it on LP and 8 track. I believe his name was pronounced “man-ZAIR-ek.” I love Mrs. Miller’s fun music! I love Sparks, too and the “Pulling Rabbits Out Of a hat” album cover was cool. I suggest you review some old album covers by Nurse With Wound and Current 93. “Whose idea was it?” Probably some name we’ve never heard of. The bigger question is why, I think. Maybe I'm the only Prince fan in the world who is absolutely neutral on the "Lovesexy" album cover. I like the Paul McCartney “Pipes Of Peace” album. Have a nice day and stay safe

    16:34 The Sparks album cover shows the craziness that is Ron Mael. Whether it's his normal stiff-as-a-board posture at the keyboards in a bathrobe, or, as I first discovered him, his odd antics in the video for "Cool Places" (the first song I had ever heard of theirs), he is a bizarre creature. Sparks is one of those bands you either love or hate, and the same could be said about their album covers.

    I love Mrs. Miller! I have a lot of fun singing "Downtown" in her fashion (preferably when I'm home alone!) We have a very special singing lady in Norway too, look up Olga Marie Mikalsen. You're in for a strange musical experience. She's dead now.

    Almost all of Birth Control's album covers are repulsive. Pretty good band, more's the pity. Their Plastic People is a really fine krautrock album that for once has a cover that won't make you lose your appetite. The Ray Manzarek album is very good, more proggy than Doors-like. The first Juicy Lucy album had a different cover in the USA, the same general idea but not as explicit...and not quite so "juicy."

    Two comments from me.
    16:35 Sparks tendency for self-parody is fine, as on the previous covers. But this cover was visually overbearing. Much more subtle was "Introducing Sparks".
    18:18 On the cover, is Paul wondering, like me, if the shady character is carrying a blue table? I agree, the whole folly was painful for we Macca fans.

    Swans- Soundtracks for the Blind

    Daryl Hall and John Oates had some pretty bad album covers early on. Their known for some pretty bad videos too. Here's a few albums to take a look at: Whole Oats, War Babies, Abandoned Luncheonette, X-Static, Bigger Than Both of Us, Along the Red Ledge, and the infamous self-titled "silver album". The album Alibi by America is pretty bad too.
