I was in Shenzhen twenty years ago and there were three hotels in the building where I stayed. It was next to Shangrila. The lobby of the hotel I stayed in was on the twenty-fourth floor. My room had floor to ceiling windows with a good view. That was high for Shenzhen then. I think the viewing deck of the Empire State Building is only on the 86th floor. I'm always floored when I see videos of modern China as I go back to when China was all about everybody wearing Mao jackets and waving Mao's Little Red Book during the Cultural Revolution. The border with Hong Kong was agricultural back then. The trouble with staying in "The Ritz" is that the more you stay in "The Ritz" the harder it is to go back to "The Pits". Maybe you should marry Arthur. Hmmmm, by the way, where's Edy?
Amazing hotel, if anytime my wallet allow me i definitely gonna visit it :) In Shenzhen i usually stay in Huaqiang Plaza Hotel, is perfect for people who want to visit the electronics market's. Amazing rooms with view in market or mountain. I have a timelapse from room in the beginning in my first video from Shenzhen. I'm waiting your next nice video from China :)

Purpose of the firewall is to block foreign MSM fake news and intelligence infiltration (ex. CIA's using Facebook and fake news to create the Arab Winter in Egypt, Libya, Syria etc.), and to enforce Chinese law where foreign companies won't help (ex. blocking pornhub and google because they don't comply with Chinese law on child porn). Legitimate use is commonly accepted regardless of income.

That's is mainly Luohu District on the Shenzhen side ( across the river is Hong Kong without rioters ) . One of the smallest/oldest districts of Shenzhen .
I work in travel&MICE industry and used to travel a lot over the world, China has literally the most modern, luxury and high-tech hotels in the world. And the restaurants are so good cuz every fancy hotel serves both Chinese and Western food. Every year we have a bunch of 5-star hotels brand new open here, and they’re usually much cheaper than those in developed countries. With the same room rate you can only stay at Residence Inn in US
It's hard to say when seeing the luxury hotel things. I have been to only a few places maybe not as good as this one but still really good. One thing that makes me feel not good is that this is definitely something I can't afford but actually it is someone's daily life. The rich poor gap in China is huge.
I have been stayed in Manhattan, San Francisco, LA etc . The 5 star hotel in the western world is similar to the 3 star hotel or even 2 star in China. But it’s 2-3 times expensive .
That was great! Clearly, I’m traveling too much for work, because that hotel (other than the awesome views) just didn’t seem that crazy to me, Now - when it is _my_ money - yeah, I’m not able to even go into the lobbies of hotels like that unless I sneak in. :)
Sorry you didn't have the dinner buffet. While pricey, the unlimited pours of fine wine, sea urchin (served table side), and Movenpick ice cream are over the top! St. Regis is truly the finest 5-star hotel in the world.

Hmmm, so the view having cleared up seems to have provided you with a better view. Still the hassle and the chaos of being in China, but when the mountains are visible like that can make all that nonsense more manageable.

Almost all five star hotels in China have built in VPN that travelers can access FB, TH-cam, Google.
not vpn, those businesses have separate lines that don't go through china's firewalls (still go through hotels' own firewalls for protections).
