Geoguessr - Brit Vs USA - Pt 1 Washington State

Part 1 of me taking on the USA map again! This part is in Washington State (which I figure out eventually!)

Yes, sheriff is an elected county office. He administers the county’s deputies.
Trees help identify which areas you are located. Fir trees usually means the Pacific Northwest, mesqite trees and sage brush the Southwest, tall pine trees the Southeast, and maple trees New England, Palm trees Southern California, gulf coast, Florida, and Hawaii.
Another help are highway signs. In general, odd numbered Blue sign interstate and White US route highways run north to south, with the interstate highways numbered west to east and route highways east to west. Even numbered highways run east to west with the Interstates numbered south to north and routes north to south. Therefore interstate 5 runs parallel to the Pacific Coast and I 95 the Atlantic coast. Routes are just the opposite, US 101 runs parallel to the Pacific Coast and US 1 runs parallel to the Atlantic Coast. The highways running parallel to the Canadian border are high numbers for interstates and low numbers for routes. The highways running parallel to the Mexican border and Gulf Coast are low for interstates and high for routes.
Another helpful divider is the Mississippi River with Interstate 55 running north south, and routes 51 just east of it and route 61 just west of it.
Yes, interstate highways have mile markers every mile, starting at 0 on the western state line and southern state line or freeway start
French language signs usually means you are in Louisiana.
Sometimes state highways can be identified by circles and rectangular, a few help identify which state by shape if sign or figure. Washington state will have a bust of George, Pennsylvania by the keystone shape,as was present on the last round, and Texas by shape of state on map.
