This is actually a refreshing alternative to the hyperanalytical approach usually taken. Plus, you adjudicated correctly in favor of the Brewers. Well done.

LETS GO BREW CREW WOOOOOOOH. I'm gonna argue for my brewers here.
    1. Beer
    2. When the brewers hit a homerun they have their mascot go down a slide and then waves a brewers flag. It's awesome.
    3. They have the famous racing sausages. I recommend looking it up. It's silly as hell, and I love it.
    4. They have the best logo. The ball and glove if you look closely it actually says "m" and "b" which of course stands for milwaukee brewers.

I do like beer & sausages, and the mascot on a slide sounds great!

There's a big factor that I think you should consider. Perhaps surprisingly to you, there are several MLB teams that *aren't trying to win*. Does that seem preposterous? Of course their players and managers are indeed literally trying to win, but their ownership groups have decided on the business strategy of keeping player payroll very low and reaping maximum profits--after all, every MLB team is financially profitable, even the ones that are obvious losers every year.
There is a likely consensus that the teams that clearly "aren't trying" are the Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, and the Oakland A's. No one can credibly argue that they are going for any reasonable strategy other than to keep it cheap and tolerate losing. Notable here are the Oakland A's who had a remarkable run of low-cost success from 1999 to 2014, but really have fallen hard in the last two years as they are literally last place in player spending. (By the way, you need to watch the _Moneyball_ film--it'd be a good one to get in before the season starts.)
There are a few others that are keeping payroll low but are still teams of credible quality, such as Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and Arizona. I wouldn't put them in the same category as the 7 teams above, as they are trying to win with a low-cost strategy, which is quite different than the teams above. (Then also there is the Washington Nationals, who used to spend a lot but cut payroll this year in order to rebuild and will likely spend more in the coming years.)
Too bad that my Minnesota Twins didn't make your first cut--I think they will be a very fun team to watch this year, as they are trying to win with a middling payroll spent very wisely. I think the teams that have an ambitious and winning attitude but don't dominate in spending are most deserving of your support. :)

Sorry for your loss, condolences. The most consistent are the Yankees. The hot team right now is the Astros. The runner ups are the Dodgers and Mets. And Braves. Underdog teams are the Padres, Blue Jays, Rays, Guardians, Phillies, Mariners, Cardinals. Teams with careless owners are Athletics, Pirates, Reds, Rockies. Rebuild teams are the rest which I have not named.

Love seeing a European take an interest in MLB. It’s a bit slower pace than other US sports, but the intricacies and relaxed nature of viewing, is something that lends itself to English sensibilities.
…until the playoffs. The playoffs are wild and anxiety-inducing, in the best way possible. Games can completely change course in a matter of a swing, and it seems to happen every game.
Good luck with selecting a team I still say not considering Boston is a huge mistake.

Truly sorry for any family difficulties you’re experiencing. I’m sure we all can commiserate on that level in one way or another. Certainly if we’re your age (I am). As far as baseball teams if I were somehow starting from scratch I would follow whatever team the previous year’s MVP was from so The Yankees (Aaron Judge). He’s going to crush a lot of monster home runs some of which may come at the end of games just when they’re needed the more and might create exciting ending. Love England. Sending ❤❤ from the USA.

I’m so sorry about your loss but happy you’re able come back!
As a biased Phillies fan, I would just skip this who thing and chose the Phillies (jk 😂)! Philly & fans of our teams outside the city, have the best sports fans!
You could always watch your WBC live if you’re able to? That way you can ask questions about the game and get live answers from followers!
Hope things get better for you and your family!!

Texas Rangers fan here. Enjoying your foray into baseball! Great to see a new vid from you. Just wanted to put in my two cents on your selections...
Of the teams you have remaining, the Brewers (in my opinion) are the most fun and root-for-them worthy. They are a relatively small market team that doesn't quite have the big budgets other teams have. Offensively, they are middling at best, but their pitching is outstanding. Their two top starting pitchers (Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff) are among the very best in the league. They are in a very weak division, with the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cincinnati Reds, so they have a real shot at battling for a playoff spot. But it won't be easy, as they have to win the division to guarantee a spot, and St. Louis is the strongest team in that division the last few years. So it could make for a fun season following them. Plus, beer!
I am a life-long baseball fan, but I am doing something similar to you with Formula 1, which I've recently developed a wild interest in. I'm in the process now of deciding who I should root for this season. Gotta hurry though, as one race is already done.

Most Americans root for their hometown teams, when as a kid or where they live now. Difficult to have a hometown team in the UK. You should pick teams you can watch on TV more.
As for the Olympics, it occurs during the regular season and there just are no enough non playing dates to fit a tournament in, so few pro players make the Olympic teams. They are mostly amateur players, college players playing with a scholarship. College baseball season is fairly short and ends early summer, so they can play in the Olympics without hurting their college teams season.

San Diego Padres, they have the Potential of having one of the most exciting season with an an all-star lineup and a hungry fanbase who has suffered with bad ownership for decades and who finally has an owner who gives a damn about the fans.

Astros fan here. Love your videos. Of course I hope you will choose the Astros but whoever you pick I will support you! To your question about the WBC and players, the WBC happens before the seasons starts. Teams are currently in what is called spring training getting ready for the season. Some teams have limits placed on their players like how many pitches a pitcher can throw in a game to reduce the risk of injury. Other teams do not let their players play. Example, Frambler Valdez of the Astros was going to be in the WBC but the Astros said he could not go since he is one of their star pitchers. But Christian Javier also of the Astros will be playing in the WBC.

As a life long Astros fan I loved seeing them beat out the Cardinals in your Tourney (there is a bit of history between them). And the Yankees not making it through was just as fun to see! It's so entertaining seeing you have so much fun with this and I wish your baseball fandom all the luck in the world no matter who you choose in the end. Whoever it is will gain an excellent fan!

In regards to MLB teams allowing players to play in the World Baseball Classic, MLB hosts the event, and they want top talent performing, so, yes, teams do allow their players to represent their respective countries in the WBC. Most clubs privately dislike their players doing so, as it's a potential injury risk and temporarily takes the players' focus off of preparation for the upcoming season, but they're unable to say as much publicly.
